John and I need you to come with us to Florida to interview Dr. Murray and Dr. Williams next week to see if they would be strong expert witnesses for our hearing in December and corresponding motions. Please prepare detailed research on their biographies. Read everything there is to read on them. I don’t want to miss a thing. I need to know every single detail of their lives, professional and personal, ahead of time. I don’t want to arrive at these meetings unprepared. Be thorough, Peter. Have my secretary book your flight, hotel, etc., same for me and John.
I also need you to draft a motion for a protective order for those documents we discussed in my office this morning. This motion should be tight but lengthy. Leave nothing unsaid, no stone unturned. You should be spending every waking hour on this. We cannot afford to lose this motion. We cannot afford to let the plaintiffs get their hands on these documents as they contain highly sensitive and privileged information.
Please also look into the possibility of a venue change for the Dr. Cannery matter. Removal could be an option. We need to pursue it if it is indeed a viable one. Research not only the possible alternate venues, but also the judges from each district. Have the library run cross-checks on each judge from Westlaw. Read every case each judge has ever ruled on. I recognize that this may be a lot of cases, hundreds perhaps, but the judge we are assigned will be a critical issue. Judges decide cases, Peter. Research every judge.
Last thing for now: Have opposing counsel in the Drug 5-D matter call me. It is better if you have him call me than if I call him directly. I need to appear to be in control at all times. Have him call me. I don’t make phone calls.

I do need something very important though. I need you to summarize the nine depositions I took last week and the week before in New York. They should be detailed summaries. Sue has the transcripts of the depositions on her desk. Have her makes copies of them for you. There were nine days of eight-hour depositions. Each deposition generated approximately 380 pages of text. That said, it should take you about five hours to summarize one deposition. This means you should have them done in three days, assuming you work fifteen hours a day.
After you summarize them, please create a chart with relevant tabs for all major issues that were discussed in the depositions.
I need this by Monday. That gives you over the weekend to work on them. Should be plenty of time. Like I said, five hours per deposition, working fifteen hours a day, you’ll easily finish them by Monday. In fact, if you are diligent, you’ll have them to me by Sunday.
