Shaking his head, Numbers decided he needed to quit thinking like this, there was too much going on. They needed to deal with one thing right now, and thinking of this woman was not one of them.
“Does Fork know what is coming down the pike with regards to his half-brother?”
Numbers asked.
Data laughed. “He is the one who suggested they needed to be dealt with. Fork holds no loyalty to him after this. He gave him a shot, but if you break his trust once, you do not get a second chance to do it again.”
Numbers nodded. “Damn.”
Their leaders entered the room, and Creed paused and then shook his head. “You two gossip more than the women.”
“For shame!” Data snapped and shook his head and snapped his fingers and then Fork frowned.
“Dude, don’t ever do that shit again, it just creeps me out.”
Data chuckled and then said, “I have been hanging around Harmony and Freedom a bit much.”
“Yeah.” Creed sighed and then said, “What have you got?”
Data pulled out the pages he had already printed and handed them to him and said, “They are in TJ right now, in a warehouse about three miles from the border. I am working on getting a few of the locals to pay attention to what they are doing, the comings and goings of the men inside. Right now, we just know a location, not sure how many they have there. But, there has been some chatter about big money coming to them and soon for payment of a job. When pressed, they said the job was a rescue mission of a girl. Now, I am thinking they are talking about Jas, and if they are, it means that there is going to be a situation for the Black Hawks they may not be willing to accept. We need to give them fair warning.”
Creed nodded absently and looked at Numbers and said, “Do we have anything we can give them in the way of a thank you for everything they are doing, go ahead and send it. This is going above and beyond right now. Jas was a handful when she was here; I can bet they are just loving having her there.”
Fork laughed and said, “Hell, send them a couple of cases of tequila as well. They probably need it.”
“What do you want to do about the Vipers. We have so much shit going on it is gonna be a stretch to make sure we have enough men for all this shit,” Data said.
Creed rocked back on his heels and said, “Yeah, we are gonna need to find some men we can trust to join us. Someone call Maxi and have him check with the guys at the base that are about ready to get out. Maybe a few of them would be interested. We are going to need some heavy duty hitters for this, guys.”
“Let me go talk with Bear as well. They just got home last night, but the Furies may be able to spare him right now,” Fork said.
Creed laughed loudly and said, “We should all go; it is entertaining to see the big guy with a tiny baby. He refuses to let anyone else hold her unless Bob yells at him. Raylee is going to be hell on wheels; I can see the look in her eyes already.”
Fork shook his head. “Plus all the girls are getting baby fever. Hell, I think the Harley store sold out of baby clothes and had to order more. The women are all over one-upping each other on dressing their child. It’s getting to be a pain in the ass.”
“Seriously? Harmony has baby fever?” Data laughed and shook his head. He couldn’t picture it; the woman was not the mothering type.
“Hell yeah, she is already looking at defense classes for kids. Plus, she made a down payment on a mini motorcycle, the fucker is nicer than mine,” Fork snapped and shook his head and then looked at Data who was trying not to laugh. “Just wait, when it’s your turn, you aren’t going to find this shit funny.”
“Uh, yeah I am,” Data said and looked at Numbers who was agreeing with him. “I am pretty sure finding someone to take on us two geeks is gonna be hard. I figure we need to go to the Comic-Com again, last time we found a Cat Woman who kept us busy for the whole convention.”
Creed frowned and looked up at the ceiling. “Really? We are an MC; I am pretty sure that is gonna destroy our rep if we have members wearing their patch to a Comic-Com. It is embarrassing.”
Numbers laughed. “Boss, if you would have seen the way she could bend, you would so not be saying that. I swear she was a cat in another life.”
Fork laughed loudly, and then Creed shook his head and said, “Come on, let’s go see how the mighty have fallen.”
Chapter Two
Kit looked over her shoulder as she walked down the hallway to where her office was situated. She really didn’t need anyone following her at this juncture. Her boss thought she was making reservations for her upcoming trip to the United States; in reality, she was getting the information she needed to contact the group of people her boss was setting up to kill.
Yes, she had heard and seen Angela’s plans, and she wasn’t going to let her get away with this. The girl they were seeking didn’t deserve what lay ahead of her, no one did. When Henry had ordered her to place clothing orders from a lingerie shop, Kit had been disgusted.
There was no way she was going to be a party to this. Kit didn’t care if she lost her job, her father would have to understand.
She hurried to the office and went directly to the computer. All she needed was the email sent from the man who ran the Vipers. Until recently she hadn’t understood what an MC was. Of course she knew about bikers, but they always seemed like rebels, miscreants. She grinned when she thought about the pictures she had been searching online; those men weren’t miscreants; they were actually kinda hot. Not that she really had the time to think about that, she didn’t. But later, when she had done what she had set out to do, Kit knew that was going to be her new research topic. There was just something about a man in leather that was so, well hot.
She rounded the desk and looked at the door before turning on the computer. If she were caught, she knew she would be killed. That was what it had come to working for this woman.
She really didn’t know how in the hell anyone could stomach working for this woman and her lackey.
It only took a few moments for her to find the message, and she sucked in her breath. It was just as she feared, but she had a lot less time than she thought. If this email was correct, they were going to be making their move in the next week. Biting her lips, she plugged in her external thumb drive and began to copy the email; she quickly scanned through and added things she may need when something caught her eye. What was this?
She opened the email and began to scan down the page; she felt her breath quicken as she read what they were discussing, other females who had been with the girl Angela was seeking, their people were providing information about the Ops Warriors, the club she already knew she was going to help. Kit copied the email and then scanned for the address and copied the rest of them without reading; she didn’t have the time to read them right now. Finally, when the light went off the drive, she pulled it from the computer and slipped it into her pocket.
Before she had a chance to power down the computer she heard voices in the hallway, her time had run out. Moving quickly, she hit the power source on the floor and then went to the French doors that led out to the veranda. Hopefully, they wouldn’t see her leave, she had little choice now, though. She slid out the door and shut it when she heard the office door opening, then she slid next to the door and listened.
“I am leaving in a few hours, and as soon as the arrangements are made, you need to follow. We will meet up in Las Vegas, and from there we will be able to finalize the plans to get my granddaughter back,” Angela said briskly to Henry who was following along as usual. Kit grimaced as she thought about them actually getting their hands on the young woman.
“Are you sure you want to put this much faith into men who so quickly betrayed each other. I mean the Warriors have a blood bond with this group, and they turned on them at the smell of money,” Henry said and then she turned and looked at him.
“What do I care, when it is all said and done, they will be dead as well,” Angela said. “I have told the Vipers they can
do what they want with that territory.”
Henry paused and frowned. “I believe the new owners of the mine there are connected if you know what I mean.”
“I do, which is why I think using them is our best course of action, they will be keeping everyone busy while we find my granddaughter. I already have a suitor picked out for her. The young man’s father is very powerful in several of the southern areas of Mexico; he will be a good ally when the time comes,” Angela said and then sat down at her desk. Kit continued to listen at the door with hopes of getting even a morsel of extra information to give to the Ops Warriors to help them.
“Are you sure it is wise to be so set in stone, there are others…” Henry said, and Angela laughed and shook her head.
“Yes, there are others, but none of them will be able to handle her. I think Jose has the right skills to teach his son in order to keep Jas in line. Besides, once we take her, we are going to need to move and fast. Before you leave, I would like you to shut up the house, put it on the market, and give the employees their severance.”
Henry replied, “The permanent severance we discussed.”
“You know the rules, Henry; I want no one to be able to come back and identify me,”
Angela said, and Kit sucked in a quick breath at what she heard.
“Very well, I will begin to make arrangements for that now. There are only five employees so it will not be hard,” Henry said.
Angela shrugged and said, “I don’t need the specifics, just take care of it, and when we meet up, make sure you do not leave any trails back to me either.”
Henry nodded and said, “It will be taken care of.”
Kit looked around and then slowly slipped from the shadows, intent on getting to her father and getting him and her family the hell out of town. The other groundsman would take care of the cook and servants; she needed to protect her family. As she ran, Kit had no idea what the hell she was going to tell them, the only thing she did know was that the Warriors were going to be her last chance to help anyone, including herself.
Chapter Three
“Do not hog your daughter,” Bob snapped and hit Bear on the back of the head. The large man growled and turned and glared.
“Woman, you hit me one more damn time, I am gonna…”
“You are gonna what?” Shady said, fingering a pocket knife that appeared out of nowhere.
“Make them stop,” Bear demanded, and Bob laughed and shook her head.
“No, the deal was, we left New York early because you were freaking out about my new family being all up in your business, so in turn, you had to share your snuggle time with Ray.”
“Okay, they are completely nuts, you know I’m not lying. Your adoptive mother wants a tattoo…and she wants Kink to do it…on her…” Bear bellowed, and Raylee startled and looked up at her father. Really, you had to wonder why the baby just stared and smiled at her father’s anger; it was a little disconcerting.
“Stop it,” Creed said when he walked in the door. “I cannot hear the word hoochie come out of your mouth one more time without having to take another shower, and so far, I’ve had two today.”
Since coming back from New York, they had all been laughing and teasing about the crew they met there. The O’Malleys and the Roarks were just that fucking entertaining. Harmony had declared she wanted to be like them when she got older and the guys had all called quits to that notion right off. Numbers and Data hadn’t gone but had heard all about it. They were kinda sad they missed out. According to some of the guys, there were some hot babes there.
Sofia smiled and shook her head. “Mom and Dad are planning another trip out here,
Georgie and Boomer are tying the knot apparently, so they are making plans for several shopping trips.”
Bear grinned and shrugged. “If I am gonna be tortured, I am taking all you bastards with me. That family in this state again, we should call out the fucking troops to stand by.”
“Especially if Olivia is coming too, you have not seen anything until you see those two planning a wedding. Let me tell you; they scared the fuck outta me.”
“No swearing around Ray,” Bob snapped and bent over and grabbed her daughter who was still smiling at her father.
“Yeah, ‘cause shit and bitch are so much worse than fuck, which you said like five minutes ago when you burnt your finger on the bottle warmer,” Bear said dryly then stood and stretched. He had been sitting there for more than an hour with Ray, keeping her from the women when they showed up. He didn’t like too many people touching her; she may get confused, and there was no way he was going to let his baby girl get confused on who her daddy was.
“Go away, do your manly bonding and leave us to make sure Ray Ray knows that boys are gross and can lead you on the road to darkness,” Bob said and turned around and motioned to the Lady Riders who were all in the room just watching their byplay. Bear looked closely at the women as they looked at each other, these poor bastards had no idea what was coming down the pike at them. Hell, if he were nice he would tell them, but fuck watching it happen was gonna be so fun. Kissing his woman and baby, he turned and looked at the guys who were shaking their heads at him.
“What?” Bear growled.
“Dude, I am revoking your man card,” Data said sadly and held out his hand. “You have officially been ousted from the man club.”
Bear glared at him and then walked to the man, looked him in his eye, and said, “You wanna say that again.”
Numbers chuckled and shared. “Hey, he is sometimes a dipshit, but this time, Bear, I think he has ya. That was a little too sweet.”
Bear shook his head and said, “Yeah, okay. Did you come to my house for a reason?”
Data said, “We need to ask you a favor.”
Harmony chuckled and stood, but her men stopped her and shook their head. “Can we have a word with you and Shady?”
The leader of the Lady Riders froze and then turned and looked at them with a grim expression on her face. She knew something was going to come down the pike, the shit hadn’t hit the fan in a few weeks, and since they had been back from New York for a month, that was a record.
Boo paused as she was walking out the door and murmured, “You guys find me when you are done, we can deal with it later.”
Creed frowned and turned to Harmony who nodded and then looked at him and raised an eyebrow at him. “What?”
“You sick again?”
“Yeah, we will talk about that later. What’s up?” Harmony said, and Shady shook her head with a grin.
“Not sure that is gonna help.” Then Harmony turned and glared at her.
“Pot this is kettle,” Harmony said.
Shady frowned and ignored her and said, “What is going on?”
“It’s about Jas,” Fork said and watched both women tense. He knew this had been a sore subject for a while, Jas being so far away, and Shady missing even more of her life than she had, but it was for safety. Fork also knew given the chance she would bring her soon-to-be seventeen-year-old home.
“What about her?” Shady asked and braced herself.
“Nothing right this second, but right now, we need to check if she talked to anyone after she left. You know the shit that is going down in Arizona, and if her position was compromised we need to deal with it like now,” Creed said.
Harmony growled, “If those fucking bitches did anything to compromise Jas, they are going to answer to the Lady Riders. Bad enough their old men are a fucking wart on the ass of humanity, we already made the break with them, but if we need to make it clear what will happen if they tell anyone shit about Jas, we will.”
Data stepped up. “We don’t know anything yet, we are still in the discovery phase, right now we know the Vipers are holed up just over the border and are still answering to Angela. We are going to need some more men who are trained. She is either planning on coming for you or Jas, if it is you, Shady, we are covered but Jas?”
Shady nodded then looked at Cre
ed, and she said, “Call them, have her brought home, here at least we will have eyes on her. Let those fuckers come; it is time to put the past in the past once and for all. It is gonna be a clean start for us all if we pull this off, and I intend on making that happen.”
Creed nodded and then Harmony said grimly, “Numbers, get the information on the company who is building the safe house, tell him we need to speed shit up like now.”
Fork turned and said, “Call the boys; church is gonna happen early.”
Shady nodded as well and looked at Harmony. “For us too. We need some plans for Bob and the baby, as well as a few other things.”
Creed turned back to Shady and said, “We meet tonight to go over plans.”
“Dinner it is,” Shady muttered and then walked out of the room, Harmony knew she was going in search of her men. Hopefully Slider and Cajun would be able to calm her ass down.
Data leaned over as their leaders walked to their woman and began to talk quietly. Bear raised his head when Data hit him on the arm and said, “Come on; we gotta get more information. If we are going to get ahead of the game, they are going to need some good intel, time to tap a few of our resources and see what they have.”
“Just let me tell Bob I am leaving, I will meet you out front.”
