“Does it look like he’s going to drive down towards us?”

  “Can’t be sure, maybe.”

“That’s good enough for me,” said Judy as she bounded out of the truck. She quickly ran to the rear of the truck. She glanced up the road towards Mother Nature’s and then she ran across the road. She stopped by the side of the road and fluffed her hair before setting out on a slow jog heading away from town.

Bob looked at her from the driver’s side mirror of his truck.

  “She’s...good.”

Meanwhile, Bob noticed that Mother Nature’s Land Rover had pulled out onto the road, turned and was headed in Bob’s direction. Bob slouched down in his seat so the driver of the Rover would not see anyone sitting inside of the truck.

The Land Rover drove slowly past Bob’s truck.

Aaron glanced only briefly at the truck and seeing no one inside, continued along the road heading away from the center of town. After turning past a short curve he noticed up ahead, on his side of the road, a woman jogger stumble and fall to the ground. She immediately sat up and clutched her right ankle.

As he pulled closer to the injured jogger he noticed her bright pink spandex outfit. Earlier, when he had looked out his bedroom window he noticed there were two people sitting in the tow truck he had just driven past. One of the two people was a woman.

He wondered, Could she be the woman? Was she a member of the coven?

He decided to pull over and find out.

He pulled the Rover to the side of the road just ahead of the woman. He climbed out of the vehicle and walked over to the woman.

  “Are you okay?” he asked.

With moist eyes she looked up at him and said, “I don’t think so. I think I broke my ankle. It really hurts. Owww.”

“Let me check it out for you.”

“Are you a doctor?” she pouted.

“No, I’m actually a teacher. Look, I’m going to touch it. I’ll be gentle. I promise.”

His eyes were soaking up her incredible beauty. She looked like a Hollywood starlet.

Aaron knelt down next to her feet and gently reached out and touched her ankle, probing for any sign of swelling. When he touched her ankle sock he felt a cold chill rush through his own body.

  “Does this hurt?”

“Uh-huh,” she said with a wince.

“How about when I touch here?”

“Oh, yeah, that hurts, too,” she said. “Is it broken?” she asked.

“I don’t think so. It’s probably just a bad sprain. Would you like me to give you a lift home? We seem to be traveling in the same direction anyway.”

  “That would be wonderful.”

“All right,” said Aaron standing up. “Here, take my hand and put all of your weight on your left foot. I’ll pull you up.”

She reached out and put her hands into his. There was no cold chill this time. She seems nice, maybe she’s not one of them, he thought.

With a gentle but firm tug he pulled her to her feet. Her momentum however, caused her to fall forward into his arms. He had to hold her up as her body collided with his.

Aaron looked down into her sparkling blue eyes. She gave him a warm friendly smile. Her teeth were a perfect white. Her lips were smooth and full.

“Sorry. I guess I don’t know my own strength,” said Aaron.

“Oh, I don’t mind. By the way, my name is Judy. What’s your name?”

  “Aaron Powell.”

“Well, Mr. Powell. I don’t know what I would have done if you hadn’t come along to rescue me,” she purred as she leaned into him.

  “Please, call me Aaron.”

  “All right, Aaron.”

He found the scent of her perfume to be very sensual. She continued to lean into him. He could feel her trim but soft body pressing against him.

“Here, let me get you to the Land Rover. Now put your arm like this,” said Aaron as he tried to walk her on her one good foot.

  “I don’t think I can.”

  “Try.”

They went one step and she lost her balance tipping into to him in the process.

“Well, I guess I’ll just have to carry you. If that’s okay?”

“It’s okay, I’m sure you’ll be gentle with me.”

He lifted her up into his arms. She felt feather light. She wrapped her arms around his neck. He couldn’t help but notice the swells of her breasts pushing at the scoop neck line of her spandex top. The sensual smell of her perfume enveloped him.

He carried her over to the passenger side door. Aaron was able to reach out and open the door. He carefully placed her on the front seat. As he closed the door, he noticed how ample and firm her breasts were from the sideways profile set out before him. He even noticed that her nipples were erect.

  “Thanks,” she said.

“No problem. Now buckle up. We can’t have any more accidents.”

  “Okay.”

As Aaron went around to the driver’s side to climb in he thought Bazooka Gum, that’s the color of her outfit. That mental recognition brought a smile to his face.

He started up the Land Rover and after checking his side mirror, he pulled back onto the road.

“You’re going to have to direct me to your place. I’m not from around here and I don’t know my way around.”

“I thought so. I know most everyone around here and I sure didn’t recognize you,” she said while she looked him over from head to toe.

They drove along for a moment.

  “Directions?”

“Oh, I almost forgot. Sure, uh… you will have to turn around on this road and head towards the town center until it intersects with Route 7, and then turn right and my place is about a half a mile up, on Route 7. You can’t miss it. I own a motel called Grand View Motel. I hope that it’s not taking you out of your way.”

“Trust me, it isn’t a problem. So are you very busy this time of year?”

“Not really. This time of year I mostly get traveling salesmen. Fall foliage time and winter ski season are my busiest times.”

“Owned it long?” asked Aaron, continuing to make small talk.

“It seems like forever,” she sighed.

“Miss Beacon, how is it that this coven doesn’t know exactly what we are doing? Don’t they have special powers like the ability to read minds?”

“They have powers, yes. As to the ability to read minds, well that’s a different matter. They all have special powers. Most have changeling powers, you know, to change shapes. They sometimes can read one’s mind, if that person is weak and lets them in.”

“But, what about their master, can’t he read everyone’s mind? He must be able to tell them what is going to happen?”

“No, dear. Their master, Moloch, can only know what is happening on this earth through the senses of his minions. He too can’t read just anybody’s mind. He has to be invited in first.”

“Then it should be easy. All we have to do is just not let him or his followers into our minds.”

“I wish it were that simple. Moloch is very powerful. The coven member’s devil partners are, too. They all use tricks and deceptions to try to knock you off guard. Then, when you are distracted or confused, they will try to get you to invite them in. They can disguise themselves as one of your friends, a relative, a pet, or someone you might trust. They will tempt you until you give in. They are relentless.”

“Then how can Aaron possible succeed against Moloch’s powers?”

“He is a Powell, with his own special powers passed down to him by his ancestors. What he must now contribute is free will and courage. I believe he is strong enough on both fronts. It will remain to be seen whether he uses them wisely.”

  “I’m afraid for him.”

“Korie, don’t be afraid for him, just be strong for him.”

“You’re his guardian angel. Why can’t you go with him and protect him?”

“Because, as his ancestors before him, and th
e other families throughout human history who have faced this challenge, he too, must battle alone. He will soon have to make a choice between good and evil. God imbued humankind with free will. So it is that Aaron will be called upon to freely choose. Only he can make that choice. While it is true that I have journeyed alongside him and his family for many years, for this, it is God’s will the chosen one must stand alone.”

“I hope we’re all ready for this.”

  “I agree, child.”

“Now we wait for darkness, then as I said earlier, we have to save a young girl from the clutches of those evil parasites.”

“Will Aaron be back by then?” asked Korie.

“Maybe he will, maybe he won’t. It’s in his hands Korie. We’re just going to have to trust him.”

Swallowing hard Korie said, “I hope that you’re right about all of this.”

“Hope and pray, child, hope and pray to God Almighty that we defeat Lucifer and Moloch and all the coven members here in Sutton.”

  “I will.”

“Shhhhhh!” said Miss Beacon as she put her right index finger up to her lips to signal for silence.

  “Someone’s here!” said Miss Beacon.

Miss Beacon quickly moved to the kitchen window, looking north along the road that passed her property. Bob Senecal’s tow truck was making a U-turn in the road. It left her place, heading north away from town.

Miss Beacon half ran down the hallway towards the front door. She turned and in a whispered voice said, “Stay in the kitchen.”

Korie moved to the hallway entrance to the kitchen, and took up a position so she could listen to whatever was about to take place.

Miss Beacon waited at the front door. There was a single knock, then a pause followed by a succession of heavier knocks.

Miss Beacon waited a moment before she opened the door. She placed herself squarely in the doorway entrance. She made no effort to open the screen door. However, whoever was standing there on the porch side pulled the screen door open.

“Afternoon, Miss Beacon. I’m sure you remember me. I’m Phyllis Atkins. I’m a local realtor, and this is...”

“Shirley Carter, yes, hello,” said Miss Beacon as she extended her hand and shook hands with the two women.

“To what do I owe the pleasure of your visit ladies?”

“Well, Miss Beacon, I do appreciate that you are a business woman, and as such, you are most correct to ask us to get to the point of our little visit,” said Phyllis.

“And that point is?” asked Miss Beacon.

“We’re heading up a committee of local business leaders, looking into the possibility of starting up some sort of welcoming service for any newcomers to our quaint little Vermont community. Don’t you think that it is a good idea?” asked Phyllis.

Miss Beacon noticed that Shirley’s eyes were roaming about, as she not too subtly scanned for some sign of anyone else inside.

“It might be a good idea. Look I really don’t have the time right now to discuss this, perhaps another time,” said Miss Beacon, as she tried to pull the screen door closed.

Phyllis held firmly to the screen door outside handle. She had a cold stare, which she fixed squarely on Miss Beacon, searching for some sign of weakness, some area that could be exploited to perhaps get her to invite her and Shirley Carter inside.

“But we were hoping you could join us weren’t we, Shirley?”

“Why yes, Miss Beacon, you would fit right in.”

“No thanks. Look I have some work to do. I was in the middle of sorting out some curios that just arrived from downstate and really must. . .”

“It’s so hot Miss Beacon. Could you perhaps spare us girls a cold glass of ice water or perhaps some tea?” said Phyllis Atkins.

“I would like to but I ah...ah...ah,” Miss Beacon’s eyes squeezed shut as she lets loose with a powerful sneeze that managed to spray spittle upon the two women standing in her doorway.

“Oh, I’m so sorry, really, I think I’m coming down with one of those nasty summer colds. I’m sure I could make some fresh ice tea for you ladies, ah...ah...ah choo,” sneezed Miss Beacon once more.

This time however, the two women managed to have backed themselves up in time, to avoid the brunt of the spray of spittle. Shirley Carter put her hands up to her face to cover her mouth. Phyllis Atkins covered her own mouth with the back of her left hand.

“You do seem a bit pale, Miss Beacon. Perhaps we could come back again, when you are feeling better,” said Phyllis.

“You’re probably right. I am feeling a little weak. Later then.”

Phyllis released her grip on the screen door handle as she and Shirley turned and walked down the front steps to Phyllis’ car.

“I hope you feel better real soon,” said Shirley as she gave a wave to Miss Beacon, before she settled into the passenger side of the car.

Miss Beacon waved back from behind the closed screen door.

Phyllis Atkins started up the car and under her breath she said, “Fucking old maid. She’s faking that cold. There’s no doubt she’s hiding something. I’d like to rip her fucking heart out with my bare hands,” she said from behind clenched teeth, as she pulled the car out of the driveway.

  “Well?” asked Shirley.

  “Well, what?”

“Aren’t you going to ask me if I noticed anything, or are you too busy planning to rip out the old lady’s heart?”

“Well, did you?” asked an exasperated Phyllis.

“Didn’t see anything, but I sure smelled something,” said Shirley tapping the side of her nose.

  “Yeah, what?”

“There’s another woman in there with her. She’s young and she’s afraid,” said Shirley with a wide smile.

  “Afraid? What else?”

“Well, once my trusty nose sniffed her out, I was able to mentally search her out. I tell you she’s got a strong mind, that’s for sure. She was hiding and listening to us, and she suspects we’re members of the coven.”

“Well, it looks like we’re on to something here. We should go report to Samuel and see if he wants us to try again.”

The two coven members drove down the road feeling pretty proud of themselves.

Meanwhile, back at Mother Nature’s, Miss Beacon watched the car drive away until it was out of sight. Then she closed and locked the front door.

Aaron pulled the Land Rover to a stop. He parked in front of the large white house with a wrap around, open porch. The house was set on top of the small hill behind two rows of single story motel units which Judy Perillo owned. There were forty motel rooms in the two rows. At the end of the first row was the motel office with a sign in the front window indicating the motel was closed until September first.

Aaron got out of the Land Rover and quickly moved over to the passenger side door. Judy had already opened the door before he arrived. She sat on the edge of the front seat, extending her arms out to Aaron.

She held onto his neck as he held onto her. He used his hip to close the Land Rover door. Aaron went up the front steps and moved to the front door.

  “It’s unlocked,” said Judy.

  “Really?” said Aaron.

“Look,” said Judy as she reached down with her right arm and turned the door handle, opening the door. She pushed it wide open.

  Aaron carried her inside.

“In there,” she said pointing to the living room. She used her left hand to close the front door.

Aaron carried her into the living room and gently lowered her unto the camel-backed couch.

Judy managed to hold onto Aaron for an extra moment. Her hands caressed his neck. He looked down at her. Judy’s eyes locked onto Aaron’s.

  He stood up.

“Well, I guess you’ll be okay now that you’re home.”

“How can I possibly thank you for all you’ve done?” said Judy, as she reached out and took his right hand with both of hers.

  “No thanks are necessary, r
eally,” said Aaron. Standing over her gave him a good viewing angle for her ample breasts. He could see deep into her spandex top, past the swells of her breasts. He felt himself blushing.

“You’ve done so much for me already, I hate to have to ask you for another favor,” she said with a pouting expression.

  “Ask away.”

“Well, could you be a dear, and get my mail for me? It’s in the mailbox down next to the road. I forgot to ask you to stop when we arrived.”

  “Sure, I’ll be right back.”

Aaron turned and headed outside to get the mail. When he stepped outside he noticed he had an erection. She was an incredible looking woman. Certainly more attractive than any woman he had ever met. He stopped in front of the mailbox, removed several envelopes, closed the mailbox door, and headed back up to the house. As he walked back to the house, Bob Senecal drove past in his tow truck. He spotted Aaron immediately. He picked up the CB microphone from its hook on the dash and flipped on the CB radio. He would radio in and report Judy was successful in connecting with the Powell male.

When Aaron reentered the house, he headed back into the living room to find Judy standing up with a tray in her hands. The tray had a pitcher of lemonade and two glasses. Judy seemed to be favoring her injured foot.

“You caught me,” said Judy with a surprised tone in her voice. “I wanted to offer you some hospitality. Are you angry with me? Maybe I’m being too…oh, I don’t know.”

“Presumptive?” said Aaron in an effort to finish her sentence.

“That sounds better than pushy,” said Judy giggling in a little girl sort of way. “Please stay for some lemonade!”

“Okay, I’ll have just one glass!”

  “Good.”

He sat down on the couch.

Judy bent over and put the tray down on the coffee table directly in front of him. He got another look at her ample breasts.

Shit, they seem bigger, he thought.

Judy hobbled over to the couch, and sat down next to Aaron, on his right side. She put her left hand half way up his right thigh, as she reached for the pitcher of lemonade. She managed to give his thigh, a gentle squeeze.

Aaron now experienced a full fledge erection.

Judy poured two glasses and handed one to Aaron. She offered her glass up and they clicked them together.
