  A BIT OF TRIVIA

I often draw energy from music while I write. I seek songs with a melodic and lyrical combination that provides a vibrant tempo without creating distraction. When I find one that works, I listen to it on a loop, through hundreds of repetitions. Pushing Brilliance was written to Sting’s Mad About You, and Taylor Swift’s Style.

If you have working song suggestions, I’d love to hear them. Please write me at tim@timtigner.com.

Watch for Achilles’ return in late 2016, in The Lies of Spies.

  ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Tim Tigner began his career in Soviet Counterintelligence with the US Army Special forces, the Green Berets. That was back in Cold War days, when "We learned Russian so you didn't have to," something he did at the Presidio of Monterey alongside Recon Marines and Navy SEALs.

With the fall of the Berlin Wall, Tim switched from espionage to arbitrage. Armed with a Wharton MBA rather than a Colt M16, he moved to Moscow in the midst of Perestroika. There he lead prominent multinational medical companies, worked with cosmonauts on the MIR Space Station, (from Earth, alas) chaired the Association of International Pharmaceutical Manufacturers, and helped write Russia's first law on healthcare.

Moving to Brussels during the formation of the EU, Tim ran Europe, Middle East, and Africa for a Johnson & Johnson company and traveled like a character in a Robert Ludlum book. He eventually landed in Silicon Valley where he launched new medical technologies as a startup CEO.

Breakthrough medical technologies sometimes bring tremendous power and great financial reward. Tim's thrillers take you into that world. When the fortunes and dreams of powerful people are on the line, they tend to do whatever it takes to thrive. Their victims pile up until heroes emerge, people with the courage, skills, and resources required to fight back, overcome, and survive.

Tim grew up in the Midwest, earning a BA in Philosophy and Mathematics from Hanover College and then a MBA in Finance and a MA in International Studies from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton and Lauder schools. He now lives with his wife Elena and their two daughters in Northern California.

  ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

Writing novels full of twists and turns is relatively easy. Doing so logically and coherently while maintaining a rapid pace is much tougher. Surprising readers without confusing them is the real art.

And then there are the characters….

I’m grateful to the Editors and Beta Readers of PUSHING BRILLIANCE for their guidance with the finer points of plot and character, and for their assistance in fighting my natural inclination toward typos.

Brent Bird, Doug Branscombe, Anna Bruns, John Cabler, John Chaplin, Geof Ferrell, Lawrence Fulkerson, Andrew Gelsey, Emily Hagman, Robert Lawrence, Margaret Lovett, Tony McCafferty, Joe McKinley, Bill Overton, Bryon Quartermous, Stan Resnicoff, Chris Seelbach, Todd Simpson, Gwen Tigner, Rob Tigner, Steve Tigner, Slaven Tomasi, Judy Troyer, Igor Vocanec, and Jill Weinstein.
