  Chapter Thirteen

Abby took little notice of the décor in the large white building as she was directed through the door and down a long hallway. Most of her attention went to locating her enemies and assessing their strengths and weaknesses.

One of the brothers took the lead. Turning into a smaller hallway, he walked halfway down it then opened a door to a flight of stairs. She dreaded what she would find at the bottom, but reminded herself that Ryan had only been taken down to the basement a few minutes ago. Surely Montoya would want to draw Ryan’s torture out rather than to kill him quickly. He’d waited this long to get started so why would he rush now?

Reaching the bottom of the stairs, she stepped onto the plain concrete floor. She came to an abrupt stop when she saw Ryan secured to a metal chair. His torn shirt hung open, but she didn’t see any signs of blood so far. She met his eyes and he looked to the right and down and shifted his right foot slightly. His eyes went back to hers and she nodded minutely to tell him that she’d received his message.

“You must be Abigail,” Diego said and opened his arms wide in welcome. “How delightful that you have decided to join us.” He smiled charmingly and one of the brothers prodded her in the back to propel her forward. “I am very interested in learning how you managed to find my home.”

Abby was disheartened by the number of adversaries that she was facing. Five men and one leather clad woman stood behind Ryan, four more men stood off to her left and the two brothers were flanking her. Including Montoya, there were thirteen enemies in total.

The blonde lurking behind Ryan sneered at her cattily. The fingernails of her left hand were digging into his skin. Her right hand held a blade resting lightly against her captive’s neck. Abby wanted to kill her simply for putting her hands on him at all.

She’d taken this all in after a quick scan of the room. “Your mansion isn’t as secret as you believe,” Abby said. “The CIA has extensive files on you. I hacked into their network and stole their data.”

“Why did you have to hack into their files?” Montoya asked. His eyes crawled over her face, coldly assessing whether she was lying or not. “Do you not work for them?”

“I used to work for them,” she lied. “I was fired a year ago.”

  “Why?”

It was hard to tell if his interest was real or feigned. Abby didn’t care, just as long as she could draw this out for as long as possible. “I slept with my boss and his wife found out about it. She threatened to put him through a messy divorce and he had no choice but to let me go. He spread some false rumors that I was corrupt and no one would hire me after that.”

Ryan listened to Abby’s lies with admiration. He almost believed her even knowing the real truth about why she was no longer an agent.

Contemplating what he’d just been told, Diego turned to the men that had escorted her inside the mansion. “Did you search our guest for weapons?”

Sharing an uneasy glance, they shook their heads. “She doesn’t look armed, boss,” the one on her left said apologetically. Diego’s temper could be volatile and they weren’t sure how he would react to their lack of foresight.

“She is a trained CIA operative,” Montoya said. “She could have a dozen weapons on her and you wouldn’t know it until after her knife slit your throat.”

The other brother stepped forward to perform a belated search, but Diego waved him back. “Never mind, I will search her myself. If she moves, shoot her.” He smiled at Abby as he gave the order and his eyes dropped to her breasts as the brothers pointed their guns at her head. “Put your hands up,” Diego said softly as he came to a stop right in front of her.

Ryan clenched his teeth when Abby did as ordered. She stared straight ahead and remained expressionless when Montoya crouched down in front of her. He ran his hands up the outsides of her legs up to her waist, making sure to slide against her skin and feel every inch of her. “Move your feet apart,” he ordered, watching her face as he did so.

Abby had shut her emotions down as soon as she’d entered the mansion. She felt nothing when Montoya slid his hands up the insides of her calves to the apex of her thighs. Looking back at Ryan over his shoulder, Diego cupped the space between her legs. “It doesn’t feel as if she is concealing any weapons up there, but maybe I should take her pants off and have a closer look?”

Ryan saw mild annoyance on Abby’s face and chose to follow her lead instead of venting his fury at seeing his girlfriend defiled. He gave Montoya a bored look. “I’m sure your minions would get a thrill out of it.”

Not getting the reaction he was hoping for, Diego stood and moved behind the American female. He almost admired her ability to keep her emotions in check when he ran his hands up the back of her legs to her ass. She gave no reaction when he slid his hands down the back of her pants. Her flesh was firm beneath his palms. Growing hard, he pressed himself against her and squeezed her cheeks. “I am going to enjoy raping you in front of your boyfriend,” he whispered in her ear.

Abby flicked her eyes to Ryan and refused to allow him to see her revulsion at having the drug lord’s hands on her. With a last squeeze, he pulled his hands out of her pants and ran them up her back. Finding nothing alarming, they moved around to her front and slid beneath her shirt.

Ryan tensed when Montoya’s hands roamed up Abby’s torso and came to a stop just beneath her breasts. Diego smiled at him over Abby’s head as he shifted her bra out of the way and took her naked breasts in his hands.

“Your girlfriend has truly excellent tits, Agent Sheldon,” Montoya said as he groped her and ground his erection into her ass. Both agents were too well trained to react. He wondered how long their restraint would last if he bore Abigail to the ground and fucked her then and there.

If she’d been just a normal woman, he’d have ordered his men out and would have buried himself in her by now. But she wasn’t just an ordinary female, she was far more than that. Besides, he didn’t want his lackeys watching on when he raped her anyway. He wanted only Agent Sheldon to witness the act. He wanted to cause the man both mental and physical pain and defiling his woman was the best way to accomplish one of the two. Tatiana would take care of the other with her knives.

When Montoya stepped away, Abby kept her expression blank and moved her bra back into place. She wanted to kill him very badly despite her vow not to take any more lives. It was unavoidable now. Everyone on this property would shortly be dead if Trevor’s handpicked team did their jobs as efficiently as she hoped.

“I have something to show you that I believe you might find very interesting,” Diego said to his new captive. He gestured to one of his men and the thug spoke into his radio too quietly for her to hear him.

“I am afraid that your boyfriend has not been faithful to you, Abigail,” Montoya said with false commiseration. “He could not resist Tatiana’s advances.” The blonde smiled widely and bent to press her obviously take tits against Ryan’s back.

Ryan’s lips thinned and he silently tried to warn Abby not to believe whatever she was about to be shown. Tatiana’s attempts to get him hard suddenly made sense when a laptop was carried inside by yet another lackey. Diego took the computer and motioned for the bandito to leave.

He held the laptop open in front of Abby and watched her face as the heavily doctored video of Tatiana and Ryan played out. Sheldon hadn’t proven to be cooperative, so Diego had set up the same scenario in another cell using one of his men with a similar build and clothing as the agent to get the effect he wanted. Tatiana had had her way with one of the other men and he’d spliced the two videos together to make a fairly convincing home porno movie.

Abby’s blank expression disappeared and was replaced by something close to rage at seeing another woman’s mouth on her boyfriend’s dick. She made a sound of outrage when the bleached blonde sat on Ryan’s face. Her rage grew with every gasp and moan of pleasure that the slut gave as she writhed in ecstasy.

  Ryan’s
eyes widened when Abby flew towards him. Tatiana started backwards, nicking his neck in the process. Blood trickled down his skin as Abby’s hand lashed out and slapped him hard enough to make him see stars.

“How could you!” Abby screamed into Ryan’s surprised and wary face. She slapped him hard enough to rock his head to the side then slapped his other cheek just as hard. She landed half a dozen blows on him then sank down to the ground and sobbed into his knees.

Ryan didn’t feel any tears soaking into his pants and he knew that Abby was putting on the performance of a lifetime. He bit the inside of his cheek to contain a fierce smile of pride. While he’d loved Miranda dearly, Abby was his true soul mate, if such a concept really did exist. It was clear to him that they were meant for each other. Now all they had to do was to stay alive until his former unit could come to their rescue.

  Chapter Fourteen

“How touching,” Diego said with a grin when he grew tired of watching the broken woman sobbing on her soon to be dead lover’s knees. “Get her to her feet,” he ordered the brothers. They’d begged to come with him and to be a part of the operation that would see Ryan Sheldon dead. They felt betrayed by the man that had called himself Alejandro and had pretended to be their leader for an entire year.

They didn’t just want to witness his punishment, they were also hoping to have a second chance at Abigail. The agent had stolen her from them and they felt it was their right to claim her again. Diego had initially agreed to their request, but now that he’d seen for himself just how beautiful she was, he decided she was too good to waste on mere lackeys.

Stepping forward in unison, the brothers dragged her to her feet. Abby looked into Ryan’s eyes for a split second, warning him to be ready, but kept her head down so on one else would see her tearless face. Stumbling as if blinded by grief, she allowed herself to be led back to her original position and put her hands over her face to hide her dry eyes.

Patting her on the back consolingly, Diego gestured towards Tatiana. “Do not worry, my dear, Tatiana will be happy to punish Agent Sheldon for you.”

Smiling hugely, the blonde reached over Ryan’s shoulder and ran her blade lightly across his ribs. The knife was wickedly sharp and blood immediately began to flow. The cut was long but shallow and it didn’t hurt much, yet. The next cut was deeper and he couldn’t contain his wince. The Russian was panting in his ear and ground her overly large breasts against his back as she leaned over him. She was enjoying torturing him a little too much.

Abby watched through her fingers as Ryan’s flesh was sliced open. There were still a few minutes left before the sun would slip from the sky, but they’d run out of time. If she didn’t act now, Ryan would soon receive a wound that couldn’t be easily patched up.

Waiting until Diego had taken a few steps closer towards the chair, Abby dropped her left arm straight down. Her fingers closed around the hilt of the knife that she’d taken from Ryan’s boot as it dropped into her palm.

Ambidextrous from years of training, she was just as skilled with her left hand as she was with her right. The blade sliced into the throat of the sibling to her left. He made a quiet choking sound as blood spurted from the gash across his throat. His brother turned at the sound and tried to scream a warning. Abby’s knife silenced him as well, cutting deeply enough into his neck that she severed his vocal cords. Both of the brothers went down and she deftly plucked the assault rifle from the closest man’s corpse.

Ryan watched in fascination as the woman he loved became a skilled assassin right before his eyes. She dispatched the two men that he’d once saved her from then swiveled and fired a controlled burst at the four men standing off to the left. Her face was devoid of expression as blood sprayed on the wall and the men jittered and fell. In the space of seconds, she’d dispatched nearly half of their enemies.

“Shoot her!” Diego screamed at his remaining lackeys and ran towards the back of the room. Tatiana was smart enough to hunch down behind Sheldon, shielding herself from his girlfriend’s ire. Shouts and gunfire came from the mansion above and Diego realized that Abigail hadn’t come alone. Backing away as his men spread out and began to fire, he spun around and ran for the secret exit that only he knew about.

Abby saw Montoya running towards the back wall, but she was far too busy dodging bullets to stop him from escaping through a hidden doorway. Diving to the ground, she rolled away as bullets whizzed through the air where she’d been standing a moment ago.

Ryan had almost forgotten about the psychotic Russian bitch until her hand clamped around his throat and her knife blade came to rest on his neck again. “Say goodbye to your woman, Agent Sheldon,” she shouted above the deafening rain of bullets.

Risking slicing his own throat open, Ryan threw his head back and was rewarded with the sensation of his skull connecting with Tatiana’s face. From the instant stinging in his neck, he’d cut himself. Warm blood sheeting down his skin hinted that it wasn’t a shallow wound.

Abby fired with precision, taking down the first of her opponents with a bullet between the eyes. Rolling across the ground again, she came to a stop and fired, hitting her next target in the heart. Moving quickly and gracefully, she dodged badly aimed fire and took another one down. With only two men left to target, she was distracted by the blonde holding her knife against Ryan’s throat. She smiled when she saw him head butt her and break her nose. Her smile changed to a grimace of pain as a bullet scored her left side.

Rolling across the floor, Abby fired a burst of bullets at a fourth man. A neat row of holes appeared in his chest and he fell. Now she only had one bandit and Tatiana left to dispatch. Putting a hand to her smashed nose, the blonde snarled in fury and leaped towards Ryan with her knife held over her head. Torn between her two targets, Abby didn’t have time to form a plan and acted on instinct. Her left hand whipped back and threw the knife that she was still holding. Using her peripheral vision, her right hand fired the rifle.

Ryan heard Tatiana’s snarl of rage and hunched his shoulders, expecting to feel her knife in his back at any second. Instead, he heard a shrill scream of pain. Turning his head, he saw his knife protruding from her right shoulder even as the final bandit fell with a bullet in his forehead.

Hearing footsteps descending the stairs, Abby shifted to her knees and swiveled around. Special Forces boots came into sight and she eased up on the trigger as Jackson jogged into view.

Grinning at the man that he’d once worked with, Ryan was starting to feel woozy from blood loss. “Long time no see, Dale.” Jackson had been one of the men to escort him back to their headquarters just over a month ago.

“I’d like to say you look well, boss, but I’d be lying,” Jackson said.

Abby knew the blonde would be gone even before she turned to see Ryan alone. Blood was sheeting from his wounds and he needed medical attention immediately. Jackson shrugged off his backpack and reached for his first aid kit. Trusting that he knew what he was doing, Abby sprinted over to the concealed door that now stood open a few inches. There was no sign of Montoya or the blonde, apart from a spatter of blood on the ground. The property sloped downwards towards the back of the mansion so the door emerged at ground level rather than being beneath the earth.

The rest of her team arrived and cut Ryan loose from the chair. They worked efficiently to get the bleeding stopped as best they could. None were medics, but they all had experience at doctoring wounds during and after battle.

“Are all the targets accounted for?” Abby asked Jackson as he sat back and wiped his hands on his shirt. The blood soaked into his black material without leaving any telltale traces of red.

“Not quite.” He seemed uncomfortable and hesitant to answer her.

  “Why not?”

“Ten of them were women,” Dale explained. “They were being kept here against their will. I wasn’t about to murder any innocent civilians, so I let them go.”

To his relief, Abby simply nodded. Dal
e had heard that the Black Squad had been cold, heartless bastards willing to do whatever it took to reach their objective. Abby clearly didn’t feel that way.

On the verge of losing consciousness, Ryan watched Abby as she reached a decision. She could have ordered the team to go after Montoya, but she deemed that saving his life was more important than seeking revenge.

“Find something we can use as a stretcher,” she instructed Holt and Doran. They sprinted back up the stairs almost before she’d finished speaking.

Afraid of what Ryan would think of her now that he’d seen her in action, Abby knelt at his side and took his hand. Instead of horror or disgust, she saw only respect and admiration. “How are you feeling?” It was a lame question, but she didn’t know what else to say.

“Like I’ve been sliced open by a psychotic Russian harpy,” Ryan said with a small grin. Abby smiled, but her stormy gray eyes remained grim. He knew that look well. He’d seen the same expression in the mirror ever since the night that Miranda had been murdered. Abby wasn’t going to let this rest. She would hunt Montoya and Tatiana down and take them out before they could make another attempt on his life.

“I can see what you’re thinking,” Jackson said to Abby. “If you’re planning on gunning for Montoya, count me in.” He was single and he hadn’t lost anyone when their mission had gone sour two years ago. He’d been spared that experience, but he still considered Diego to be his enemy and he wanted in on the operation to kill the man.
