I don’t know if he means, they’re from Lundy Looely, or someone else. There's no time to clarify because I'm on.
“Time to walk the runway, Mrs. Bates!” The technician signals for me to step forward. I do, and he presses his hand into the small of my back and whisks me hurriedly along.
“Knock ‘em out!” Anna hollers after me, as the technician parts a second set of curtains and stuffs me through.
“You’re on!” He tips his head toward the catwalk— the daunting, lit-up catwalk, and I blink.
The music builds in volume and thrust, as I step out into the blinding lights. The crowd goes nuts. They announce my name, as the designer of the Heartbreak Collection and they get even louder. My heart hammers hard in my chest, both from happiness and fear.
I don’t know how these girls do it, I’m already unsure of my footing, and I’ve only taken two steps. These lights are wicked deadly out here.
Two models, wearing my final two creations, swoop in on either side, helping to steady me as I take my victory walk. Looping their arms through my arms, they scamper along at my sides, with grace and elegance and really wide steps!
As we near the end of the catwalk, they drop my arms, threading their fingers through mine, and fearlessly stomping to the end, our arms swinging violently to the beat of the music, we arrive in a shower of glistening ticker-tape. They throw up my arms in a triumphant show of victory, like I’m a prize fighter who’s just won her match. I blink, unable to see, only hear, as we bow, due to the intensity of the light.
"Go, Jules!” I hear someone scream above the roar of the clapping crowd, followed by a sharp, shrill, two-fingered whistle.
I glance up from my feet to see him standing in the crowd, just a few rows back. "Jayden?" I shriek. He grins and shakes his sign high in the air, the words made of glitter. GO! JULES! GO!
"You made it?" I scream.
"Are you kidding me?” He smiles warm, and wide and bursting with pride. “How could I not be here?"
I’m so happy I could explode! ”But your job?" I hollers.
"I quit it!” he shouts back. “Figured, going forward, you'll need a manager!"
I burst into the biggest smile, ever.
Now, it’s THE END

About the Author
Jacquie Gee is the alias of Jacqueline Garlick. Maybe you’ve read her? We are one and the same. Two faces of one author with very different writing styles. That way, I keep readers happy by keeping my writing passions separated.
On a personal note, I love to talk… strange for a writer, I know, but it’s true…and I’m told I’m pretty funny. Though, my kids see things in a different light.
I love to write romances with a strong, sassy, heroines, and scrumptiously, gorgeous leading men. I write sweet romance surrounded by chocolate, and always with fresh flowers in the room. Raised in a small town in the country, I like writing about that best. I mean, who doesn’t love a small town, right? More importantly, enough about me, what about you?
Drop me a line and tell me something about yourself.
