Lilly V
Page 23
I knew from an early age after the first vision of Assassin that he would never be mine. I also knew that I would never have children. I have had countless visions. Some that has come to me by chance and others that I have called upon, and in none of those visions did I ever see me with a child. I guess the Dark King and I were the same in that one thing, we both wanted children.
From the moment I met Lilly, I knew that I could never fault her for obtaining Assassin’s heart. Besides, it was always hers to own.
“Did you hear him, Aunt Avalia? Did you hear what he said?” Matthias asks with his hazel eyes bright with excitement.
I smile and nod at him while rubbing my hands through his curly hair. He turns back to Hyland’s story. Although the twins are not mine, I’ve been allowed to be in their lives and to help fill a void her absence left. Even though I would give anything for her to be here to enjoy them herself.
“Uncle Drago, can you tell us about the time you and Mother ran into Oden and Karima?” William asks.
This is his favorite story. I don’t know if he loves it because of Lilly’s part in it, or because each year Drago changes up his part in it.
“Alright, Lad! Here it goes, we were surrounded by an army of vicious murderers. Yer’ Aunt Medina was clutching to my chest crying for me to save her.”
Medina rolls her eyes at her mate as she feeds their son trap fruit. She’s learned not to interrupt his wild stories. They only make him exaggerate more.
“I was just about to pull out my curve blade and save us all, but…..”
“….He was taken out by a bunch of kids first.”
Her voice causes everyone in the room to swing their head towards her. If I did not see it with my own eyes, I would not believe it to be true. Lilly is here, in the flesh. The goddess daughter came through. She did the one thing I could not. She figured out a way for both my visions to come to past.
“Mother?” Matthias calls to her.
I watch as pure joy fills Lilly’s face. Her eyes shine and tears spill down her cheeks causing the rain to fall outside.
“Hi, Boys!” Her voice shakes as she whispers her greeting.
Both boys jump from their seat, followed by an overeager Mogo. The twins rush into her arms. Their excitement nearly knocks her off her feet. She’s on her knees clutching her twins in her arms.
“I’ve missed you so much. I thought about you all the time.”
“We thought you were dead.” Matthias says as tears stream down his face.
William strokes his mother’s cheek as if he’s testing to see if she’s real. “I can’t believe you’re here.”
“Mogo miss Lilly too.”
Lilly reaches out her hand and grips Mogo’s, placing a kiss on the back of it.
For a moment the entire room looks on at the reuniting of the mother and her boys. There is not one dry eye in the room.
“Can you believe it?” his voice causes me to gasp.
So long have I gone without that connection. I didn’t know how bad I’ve missed it until just now.
“I am still trying to wrap my head around it. How?” I look up to find his eyes on me. For the first time in eight years, I see that spark back in his eyes. Assassin has finally come back to us.
He tells me briefly of how she was brought back, and for the first time I notice the young boy in his arms. My eyes connect with sparkling brown intelligent eyes and I am immediately hit with a vision.
I stand in front of the fire place in my bedroom. The heat from the fire warming my naked body. My hands rub my swollen belly. My daughter is restless inside my womb.
I feel hands wrap around me. The warmth of my lover’s body cradle me as he places a kiss on my shoulder.
“Come back to bed, wife.” He whispers in my ear.
I feel my body vibrate with love. It warms me more than the fire in front of me. I am inconceivably in love with this man.
“Yes, Nashir, I’m coming.” I reply.
The vision fades and I am again struck in awe. I wipe the happy tears from my eyes. All these years I thought it was Assassin, but it is his son.
I feel the intensity of Assassin’s eyes on me. I realize that I did not break off the connection before my vision occurred. When I look into his silver eyes, I do not see judgement or disgust at what he’s just witnessed. I see love.
Assassin nods his head towards me, and I know that he approves. We will never speak of the vision again. We will allow fate to work out its plans naturally. I’ve waited 12 Centuries to find the love of my like, what’s eighteen more years.
“Nas,” Lilly calls out to her son. “Come meet your brothers.” The little boy climbs out of his father’s arms and walks over to his mother with a wolf at his side. For only a second does the young boy stare at the twins and their adopted half giant brother, then he leaps into them wrapping them all in a tight hug. Again the room is moved to tears.
“Wait a minute,” Drago’s voice calls over the scene before us. “Is that my godsdamn wolf hound? Ye’ stole my bloody wolf hound, Lilly?”
The entire room erupts in laughter and it was what everyone needed. Before long we were all out of our seats rushing to give Lilly hugs and welcome her back home.
As the hour draws late, I watch as Assassin and Lilly sneak away when they think no one is looking. I smile as I already know what they are doing. In about five months from today, a little girl will be born. I put away the remains of the crushed red flower petals I slipped into Lilly’s drink.
I guess in the end, Lilly provided everyone with a happily ever after. I take a glass of rice wine off the table and take a sip.
Cheers to Lilly!
