Wyatt chuckled and sat back on his heels, “So impatient. Tell me what you want, sweets. I want to hear you say it.”

Aleah whimpered in her frustration, “We don’t have time for games, lover. The Director will be getting to the conference room any minute now.”

The Endocrinologist grinned widely, “Then I suggest you hurry, darling, because we aren’t going any further until I hear you tell me what you want.”

She could see the desire in his eyes, the smoldering heat simmering just beneath the surface and knew that she would not win in his stubborn game.

Aleah sighed and returned his grin with sultry smile of her own, “I want you to taste me, lover. I want to feel your tongue lapping at my juices causing me to squirm until I can’t take any more and I’m begging you to enter me.”

Wyatt leaned forward and blew another breath on her pussy, making her squirm again, “Your wish is my command, sweets.”

He changed his position, getting on his knees. Wrapping his hands around her thighs he pulled her closer to the edge of the table.

She placed her hands on either side of her body and leaned back on her lower arms, spreading her legs even further as Wyatt leaned forward. He gave one long, slow lick between her folds, finding her button quickly. Wyatt concentrated on her button, swirling his tongue around it, then placing his lips around her nub and sucking softly. Aleah’s body jumped at the sensation before she wrapped her legs around the male shifter’s head, pushing it closer to her body and writhing under his attention. He let go of her button with an audible pop and began pushing his tongue in and out of her, her juices flowing faster than he could swallow.

She bucked as the orgasm rode her body, panting as she began to beg, “Oh God, Wyatt, please! I can’t take anymore. I need to feel your cock buried deep inside of me!”

Wyatt chuckled as he stopped licking her pussy and looked up at her, his face glistening with her juices, “Are you sure, sweets? Because I don’t think you’ve quite reached your breaking point yet.”

As if to emphasize his point he blew another breath onto her heated pussy, causing her to almost leap off of the table.

Still trying to catch her breath, Aleah slid herself back onto the table and closed her legs, “I’m positive, darling. You know how sensitive I get after I cum that hard. I’m so wet and ready you could slide into me up to the hilt without any resistance. Please Wyatt! Fuck me. Fuck me now.”

He didn’t wait for her to say anything more, just stood up and gripped her hips, bringing her lower body closer to his and causing her to spread her legs to accommodate his body. His cock slid into her wet and ready pussy with one stroke and he lost himself in the sensation of feeling her gripping him so intimately. He moved slowly, enticing low moans from his partner just enjoying the feel of his cock encased in his lover’s body. Soon Wyatt found his rhythm and Aleah met him thrust for thrust.

  Chapter Four

Wyatt and Aleah finished getting dressed and rushed out of the staff lounge, hurrying to the conference room where the team had gathered.

“I told you all that playing around was going to make us late for the debriefing,” Aleah whispered to Wyatt accusingly.

He shrugged unapologetically, “I can’t help it, sweets. You’re so cute when you beg.”

She shot him a glare as she opened the door to the conference room. Every member of the team, including the good Director, was sitting at the table and all eyes turned as the couple walked in.

Aleah gave Dr. Morgan a sheepish smile as she took a seat close to the door she had entered, Wyatt sitting next to her, “Sorry we’re late, Director. I was just filling Dr. Masterson in on a few of my theories.”

Their boss just gave her a nod and a knowing smile, “That’s quite all right, Dr. Macleod, we were just getting started. It seems that we have a patient waiting in the ER for our expertise.”

William was glaring at the two sitting across the table from him. Aleah could feel the goosebumps crawling over her skin as she watched the Cardiologist turn his scowl onto her lover. The look in William’s eyes turned the Hematologist’s blood cold as he bore holes through the Endocrinologist. She could almost see the wheels turning in his brain as he seemed to be weighing the pros and cons of jumping over the table and pummeling Wyatt in front of everyone present. Aleah couldn’t be sure that was what he was doing but the murderous look in his eyes made her believe it was happening. She reached under the table and gripped the Endocrinologist’s hand, giving it a light squeeze. When he looked over at her, Aleah gave a slight nod in the Cardiologist’s direction. Wyatt glanced over and looked back at the woman holding his hand, giving her a wink. It was his way of letting her know that he saw what she was subtly pointing out.

“If the two of you are ready maybe we can begin the debriefing on our patient?” Dr. Morgan said; bring the team’s attention back to the subject at hand.

Aleah let go of Wyatt’s hand and turned to the Director, “Of course, Doctor. I apologize again for being so late.”

She folded her hands in front of her on the table, waiting to hear what her boss had to say. Out of the corner of her eye she saw William reluctantly take his gaze off of her and Wyatt to pay closer attention to Dr. Morgan.

The Director cleared his throat, “As I was saying we have a patient waiting for us to see if we can help him down in the ER. Now he’s a vampire, which is why the ER docs have called us in but I feel I need to tell you before we get down there that his symptoms are all over the map. The docs downstairs haven’t been able to pinpoint a diagnosis. I need all of you to be on your ‘A’ game when we arrive down there to do our initial examination.”

He turned to the small, soft-spoken Latin woman to his right, “Dr. Devlin, I need you to prep a room here on the fifth floor where we can move this patient and meet us downstairs when you’ve finished.”

William stood impatiently, “Well, what are we waiting for? This is the first real patient we’ve had the chance to see since you set up this team. I don’t know about the rest of you but I’m ready to get started on some real studying.”

Dr. Morgan stood and walked slowly to the door, turning to look at the Cardiologist, “Dr. Wolfe, I want you to help Dr. Devlin prep room 526 for our patient. We’re not going to be in need of your expertise just yet.”

The Cardiologist looked like he was choking on something as he sputtered, “But, Director! I can be of more help downstairs with you examining the patient than setting up a damn room for him. I’m pretty sure …”

Dr. Morgan moved away from the door, letting it close behind him as he slammed his hands down on the conference table effectively cutting William off and raised his voice, “I want you to listen to me very carefully, Dr. Wolfe. I run this team, not you, and when I tell you that I want you to prep a room with a fellow team mate then you will damn well prep that room. But since you seem to think you are better than the rest of us, I believe that you can prep room 526 for our patient on your own. Dr. Devlin, if you would, accompany us to the ER so we can begin our initial examinations?”

He pushed off the table and headed out the door, expecting the rest of his team to follow his lead. William glared at the Director’s back until the door closed again.

The Cardiologist slammed down into the closest chair and then jumped back up, punching the conference table with his right fist, “Damn it all to Hell. I am better than the rest of you. I should be running this team, not that old man who’s about a year away from his retirement. Who the fuck does he think he is?”

William began to pace, then turned his aggression on the couple still standing in the room with him, “Why are you still here? Don’t you have a job to do? Go on, Aleah. Go show the good Director just how much ass you can kiss.”

Aleah positioned herself between Wyatt and William as the Cardiologist moved around the table and headed in their direction.

He stopped right in front of her, “And just what were these theories you had to run by the good Endocrinologist
here? Huh, Aleah? Why couldn’t you run them by me this morning we walked to work together? Am I not good enough to hear the great Hematologist’s ideas now? Is that it?”

The sneer on his face showed what kind of theories he thought they had been discussing and Aleah cleared her throat before answering him, “Just some theories about what separates us from the humans, William. Nothing that I haven’t discussed with you before and certainly nothing for you to be losing your temper about. Now if you’ll excuse us, you’re absolutely right. We should be catching up to the Director.”

William grabbed her arm as she turned around to leave the conference room and Wyatt bristled, taking a step closer to the two but stopped short when the Cardiologist looked over Aleah’s head and into his eyes, “I wouldn’t do that if I were you, Doctor. Unless you want things to turn ugly real fast.”

The look in William’s eyes had Aleah’s skin crawling and she could practically feel the violence shimmering under the surface of the man holding onto her arm, “I’m okay, Wyatt. Why don’t you head on down and meet our patient. I’ll be there shortly.”

Wyatt didn’t leave, just leaned against the wall, “I’m not going anywhere. Not while you’re in here with him.”

William’s sneer grew, “Ever the knight in shining armor, am I right Wyatt? Just doing your part to make sure the damsel in distress is saved? Well let me fill you in on this damsel. She doesn’t need you to save her.”

Wyatt didn’t answer him; he just stood with his arms crossed staring stonily at the Cardiologist.

Aleah pulled her arm out of the man’s grip, “Don’t you ever fucking grab me again. Do you understand me, William? Or Wyatt is going to be the least of your worries. No one touches me without my permission and it’d be in your best interest to remember that. And just what are you implying, William? What the fuck is your problem?”

William leaned his right hip against the conference table, “What the fuck is my problem, Aleah? I can’t believe you’re going to stand there acting all innocent and ask me that question. I know I’m not the only one who sees that Fate has put us together and you’re off fucking this? God, Aleah, he’s not even in the same species of animal as you are. At least I’m pretty close to being the same. What game are you playing at? How much harder do I have to try to get you to look at me? To see me? Don’t you understand how I feel about you?”

Wyatt continued to stare at the Cardiologist, letting Aleah handle him as she saw fit, “How you feel about me? Damn it, William, how many different ways do I need to show you that I have no interest in you that way? I’ve tried to be nice, to let you down easy. To be your friend! But maybe I should have been a bitch from the beginning because I can’t seem to figure out any other way to get it through your thick head! You make my skin fucking crawl! I can’t stand being around you! You think you’re better than everyone else and your attitude just sucks. As for species of animal, that has no bearing in this conversation. You have no idea what type of shifter I am, any more than I do of your other form, so you can keep that opinion to yourself.”

She held her hand up as William started to speak, “I don’t care what you are anymore. All I care about now is that you keep your distance. That means no more showing up at my door to walk to work together, no more coffee runs to get on my good side. None of that. We have to work together because we are on this team but from this moment on I want you to pretend that you don’t know me outside of this hospital. Am I clear?”

The Cardiologist looked from Aleah to her lover still leaning against the wall, “Crystal. But this isn’t over. Not by a long shot, Aleah.”

He pushed past the Endocrinologist and headed out the door, presumably to set up the room that the Director had instructed him to do.

Wyatt pushed off the wall and took Aleah into his arms, “Remind me never to get on your bad side, sweets.”

She stood up on her tiptoes and gave him a quick kiss on the lips, “I don’t think that’s possible, lover.”

He crushed her closer to his body, “Still I will be keeping an eye on him. Just so you know.”

Aleah shuddered in her lover’s arms, “That might not be a bad idea. And after today I might need to move.”

The two of them broke apart, looking at each other somberly. She moved to the conference room door and held it open.

“We had better catch up to Dr. Morgan before he gets angry with us. Suddenly I’m not too thrilled to be on this floor for a minute longer. Besides I’m really curious about this vampire we’re going to be studying.”

  Chapter Five

Dr. Morgan was asking the vampire about his symptoms when Wyatt and Aleah joined the rest of the team in the ER, “Where did you say it was hurting?’

The vampire watched as Aleah came up to stand beside the Director then turned his attention back to the doctor asking questions, “My abdomen. But it’s not a sharp shooting pain; it’s more of a burning.”

Dr. Morgan jotted some notes down on his clipboard, “A burning? Is there any way you can describe this burning, sir?”

The vampire looked back at Aleah, his gaze glued to her throat, “It’s a burning, doc. There really isn’t much more description than that. Do you know how your stomach feels when you haven’t eaten all day?”

When the doctor nodded, the patient continued, “Well it’s a lot like that. At first I thought that was the problem but I’ve eaten, a lot, and the burning is still there.”

The Director wrote something else in his clipboard and closed it up, turning to his team, “Dr. Macleod and Dr. Masterson so nice of you to finally join us. Team, it’s time to make sure we have everything we need.”

He turned back to their patient, “Mr. Crabtree, we’re going to be moving you to a private room and running some tests so we can fix you up and get you on your way. And let me be the first of my team to thank you for taking the chance to step into this hospital for medical treatment."

The patient gave a sigh of relief and closed his eyes as the team followed their boss out of the examination room.

The Director stopped in the hallway and looked at each of his team members, “We’ve been preparing for this day a little over six months so I’m sure each of you knows what you need to do. Doctors Devlin, Bates and Barlow, I need the three of you to head on upstairs and make sure Dr. Wolfe has prepped that room for us. Doctors Macleod and Masterson, I’d like the two of you to accompany me to check on our equipment.”

The three specialists sent to check on the Cardiologist shared a look then moved to the elevators in unison.

Aleah’s sensitive hearing picked up Deanna’s whispered words to her companions as they boarded the elevator car, “See I told you she was the Director’s pet. What is it about Aleah Macleod that has Dr. Morgan disappearing with her on his tail all hours of the shift? And now Wyatt Masterson is in on it?”

Alfred turned to look at the Director and the two doctors standing with him, “You don’t think she’s sleeping with both of them, do you?”

The elevator doors closed before Aleah could hear anymore. She felt the tears burning in her eyes but she refused to let them spill over. Aleah had known that the other team members were beginning to feel threatened by her but she had no idea that they considered her to be Dr. Morgan’s pet. And now they thought she was sleeping with the Director and Wyatt. When she looked at the man she was indeed sleeping with she could tell by the anger in his eyes that he had also overheard what the three specialists had been discussing. Turning her gaze to the Director she was surprised to see a matching anger brewing in his eyes. The Endocrinologist placed a hand on Aleah’s shoulder, giving it a light squeeze. She looked up at him and leaned back, making sure there was full body contact, needing to feel his strength if only for a few minutes.

Dr. Morgan cleared his throat, “Don’t let them get to you, Aleah. You know what we’re doing is to keep everyone in our community safe. The humans are still scared of us and even though some of them are starting to come around there will alw
ays be those fanatics that feel we shouldn’t be allowed to walk the same space as them and we need to make sure every single one of us is safe from any of those humans that mean us harm.”

Aleah nodded, “I know, Doctor, but don’t you think it’s time to bring in the rest of the team? Not just because they feel you are giving me special treatment or that they think we are sleeping together. I think they can help us figure out what makes us all so different. Rosa’s a vampire so she will be able to help us immensely, not only with our patient but also with the tests. And Alfred is a witch so what we can’t find out through science he can use magic to help us. And Deanna, well I’m not quite sure what Deanna is but I know she’s ‘other’. Not to mention the fact you have three shifters on your team; myself, Wyatt and William. Isn’t it about time that we used all of the members to their fullest advantage? And I’m not talking about their specialties in medicine but their natural abilities.”

The Director looked from Aleah to Wyatt standing so close behind her, “I understand that you’re upset, Aleah, but I’m not sure if the whole team will understand, much less appreciate, what we are trying to accomplish for our community. Things will settle down and once the dust settles they’ll see that you’re not so different from them and there has been absolutely no special treatment being dished out. Now let’s go down to the lab, fill Dr. Masterson in on all the details and discuss this more without having the humans on this floor eavesdropping on our conversation and adding fuel to the fire.”
