The Movie Star's Sextape
Page 16
She hadn’t gotten twenty feet when she happened to hear a familiar voice and she turned with a start and that was when she saw Tristan sitting across from Yvette at a table in a booth. He looked up at her just as she saw him. Their eyes met, and she gasped as his eyes widened and his mouth fell open. Yvette was talking and never saw the look that the two of them shared.
Valerie looked away from him swiftly and rushed toward the bathroom. She stayed in there a long while, hoping that when she came back out, Tristan would be gone. When she was certain that it had been long enough, she walked out of the restroom and almost landed in Tristan’s arms. He had been waiting in the hall by the bathrooms for her the entire time she was in there.
She gasped as his arms closed around her and his hands held tight to her shoulders. He pinned her loosely against the wall and looked straight into her eyes.
“Valerie! I have to talk to you! I need to explain a few things to you. Please… give me just a few minutes!” he pleaded, but she narrowed her eyes at him and turned her head away from him as she planted her hands on his chest and pushed hard.
“You let me go right now, do you hear me? I know what you were doing with Yvette, and now you’ve left her sitting at that table alone while you’re in here trying to come on to me! You’re horrible, Tristan! Let me go!” she demanded, but he only held her more firmly.
“No! Valerie you don’t know what happened! The media got it all wrong! I wasn’t having an affair with her, it just… it just looked that way because of the photo that the press got. That wasn’t what was going on at all!” he insisted adamantly.
She glared hotly at him. “I’m not blind, Tristan! I saw the pictures! You got what you wanted! We did the tape, you had some fun with me, you furthered your career, now let me go damn it! Get back to your new lover!” She tried to push away again but he shook his head in frustration.
“No! Now you listen to me! It’s not real with her. It was all a set up. It’s still a set up. We’re doing what the director of the film we’re making told us to do! We aren’t a couple! Why can’t you get that through your head?” He held her fast, his eyes locked on hers.
She gritted her teeth and tried to push him away again. “You used me to get where you are now with her, so let me go! We’re done!” But she could not hide the emotion in her voice or the glisten of tears forming in her eyes, and he heard it and saw it.
“We are not done,” he told her firmly as he leaned forward and pressed his lips to hers.
She tried to turn away, but he held her face in his hands and kissed her so tenderly that her heart melted in her and she began to kiss him back, aching for him much more than she ever knew that she could, wishing that he loved her half as much as she loved him.
He pulled her into a solid embrace and she whimpered just for a moment, but as his mouth moved with hers, she remembered two things. She remembered that Yvette was sitting out in the dining room waiting for Tristan, and she remembered that Ricardo was sitting out in the same dining room waiting for her.
With one final great shove, she managed to push him away. He blinked at her in surprise, his breath short and his lips slightly swollen from their kiss.
“Valerie!” he whispered her name, looking for a reason and a resolution.
She shook her head and backed away from him. “You might not care about hurting other people and cheating on the partner you’re with, but I do. I’m not like you. There’s someone out there waiting for me, and I’m not going to hide back here and kiss you while he’s out there. Go back to the woman who is waiting at your table for you, and leave me alone.”
Valerie turned then and walked quickly back to her table, where Ricardo was enjoying the last of the wine in his glass. He looked up at her with a smile that turned to surprise when he saw her expression.
“What is it? What’s wrong?” he asked worriedly.
She shook her head. “It’s time to go, Ricardo. I need to go, please.”
He stood right up from the table. “Of course! If you are ready, we will leave. Let’s go.”
He took her arm in his and they walked out of the restaurant together, passing Tristan’s table as they went. She knew that Ricardo did not notice him or see that he was there. Ricardo was busy talking about something mundane. She kept her eyes away from Tristan, but she felt him watching her as she left, and she hated that her body reacted the way that it did, warming for him, wanting him, needing to feel his touch.
She vowed to herself that she was going to fall out of love with him, no matter what.
Ricardo drove her home as she had asked him to do, and he walked her to her front door. Once there, he smiled adoringly at her and took her into his arms, kissing her softly on the mouth. He moaned pleasurably, but she felt nothing but coldness in his kiss, and it was coming from her.
Lisa had told her that she needed to get under another man, and she knew that at least with Ricardo she trusted him, she knew him, and it would be the easiest thing in the world to get into bed with him because she knew that he would be more than willing to make love with her, but she also knew that her heart wouldn’t be in it at all, and his would be.
She knew that she couldn’t use him that way, and that she would regret hurting him when he figured out that she didn’t want to be with him. He grew breathless from their kiss and tried to kiss her again, but she turned away and stepped from his embrace.
“Ricardo, I just can’t. I’m so sorry. I know you’ve tried so hard, and that you care about me, though I don’t know why. I don’t feel that way about you. I’m not ever going to feel that way about you. I have to be honest with you because I don’t want either of us hurt. We aren’t going to go any further than this. No more kisses, no more dates, no more flowers, no more coming over here and asking me to be your girl. I’m not your girl. I am your neighbor, and if you want, I can be your friend, but that’s all that we are ever going to be. Do you understand?” she asked, hoping with all of her heart that he really did understand her.
With a heavy sigh and a nod, he lowered his hands and his eyes from her. “I understand. You are in love with the other man; with the actor who has broken your heart.” He looked back up at her. “If friendship is all that I can have with you, then that is what I will accept. I would rather keep you as my friend than not have you at all.”
He turned then and walked down the stairs away from her. He looked back over his shoulder at her, his eyes sad, but caring.
“Good luck, my friend. I hope that he does not hurt you anymore.”
With that, he went back to his own home, and she closed the door and locked it, letting a few tears fall as she made her way to her bed, wondering how love could hurt so terribly, and why there was almost nothing fair about it at all.

Tristan picked up his cell phone the next morning and called his brother. Gavin answered pretty quickly and Tristan was grateful for it.
“Gav, I need to talk with you,” he said in a low tone filled with anguish.
“Yeah… I saw the pictures in the paper. I guess you must be in the middle of some pretty big changes in your life right now. I left you alone for a couple of weeks and look at the mess you’ve gotten yourself into. You want to tell me what’s going on?” Gavin asked with a serious voice.
Tristan sighed in frustration. “I’m not even sure what’s going on! I mean… there I am doing the movie and Valerie comes to see me and she tells me that she’s going to Paris to work for a couple of weeks. I knew that something was different between us when I saw her right before she left. Things changed for us. Things started to feel… real… between us.
“Then I’m doing this love scene with Yvette for the film and Ethan gets all over my case because he says it isn’t believable and not hot enough, and that my head isn’t in the scene. I guess I must have been thinking about Valerie, because I just couldn’t fake any interest in Yvette, not even for the movie.
“Ethan said that Yvette and I had to go out on a date and f
ind a spark or make one, so she takes me out in a limo and says we’re practicing for the scene, which does take place in the back seat of a car, by the way.
“We pull up outside of this dance club downtown and she pulls her dress halfway off and gets on my lap and kisses me, and just then the driver opened the door and the cameras are all right there, waiting to go off. She told me afterward that it was all faked; it was all a plant for the media. She said it was so that Valerie would break up with me and then I could focus on her in the movie. I was furious with her!”
Gavin listened to all that his brother had to say. When Tristan grew quiet, Gavin finally spoke. “Listen to me, little brother, Yvette is only going to last as long as the filming for the movie lasts. I don’t even know her, and I can tell you that. Whatever you had with Valerie… that would last. That’s what you need to try to hold onto.”
“Gavin, I don’t think she’s ever going to forgive me or want me back. She believed what she saw in the photos of Yvette and me. She believed what everyone else believed. There’s nothing that I can do about that.” Tristan sighed heavily.
“Did you ever tell her how you feel about her? Does she know that you love her?” Gavin asked in a quiet voice.
Tristan bit his lower lip. “No. I never said anything. She has no idea how much I care about her.”
“Well then, little brother, if I was you I’d go find her and tell her the truth. Tell her that you love her and you want her, and see if she will take you back.” He spoke plainly and simply, and Tristan knew that he was right.
“I’ll give it some thought. Thanks, Gavin,” he said quietly, and ended the call.
He went into his trailer at the studio to get ready for filming that day, only to find Yvette waiting for him. She was lounging on his bed in a silk robe. She eyed him as if he was a morsel that she wanted to eat when he came in, and she pushed herself up off the bed and walked toward him where he had stopped.
“What are you doing in here?” he asked her seriously.
She smiled slyly at him and reached her hands up to the top of her robe, opening it and exposing herself to him. She let the robe slip from her body and puddle on the floor at her feet. She stood before him fully nude.
He drew in a sharp breath and kept his eyes on hers. She walked toward him and wrapped her arms around his neck, kissing him softly.
“Listen, Tristan, it’s time that we stopped fooling around and took this bond of ours to the next level. I want to be with you, and I know you want to be with me too. Not as part of the movie, but just… for fun. Just to enjoy each other and have a good time. We’re both single… let’s do it. Let me show you a really,” she kissed his mouth again, “good…” one more kiss, “time….” She traced her finger over his chest and reached for the buttons on his shirt to open them up, but he pushed her away from him.
“Yvette, I don’t want to have sex with you. I’ll be honest; I’m sick of you coming on to me. I don’t want you. I want Valerie. Now get your clothes back on and get out of my trailer, and don’t ever let me find you in here again,” he snapped coldly at her.
Tristan opened the door and held it for her. She glared at him in outrage as she reached down to the floor and grabbed her robe, pulling it back on. She stomped past him, jutting her shoulder into his chest as she did so, marching down the stairs and over to her own trailer. She went inside and slammed the door closed, and after it was shut, he heard her scream.
With a shake of his head, he closed the door to his trailer and changed into his character clothes for the day of filming ahead. Every scene that he did worked out perfectly that day, and as he was leaving, Ethan stopped him at the door where they could speak privately.
Ethan smiled at him. “You know, I’ve done other films with Yvette, and I’ve got a lot of friends who are directors and actors who have done films with her, and I’ve got to be honest with you. I’ve never seen anyone kick her out of their trailer before, and I sure as hell have never seen anyone turn her down for sex before. You’ve got some guts, Tristan.”
He shook his head. “I think you’re crazy, but I gotta tell you, I really respect you for turning her away. We’ll work out the sex scenes. I have some other ideas and we’re going to rewrite part of the script, so don’t worry about those. I want you on this movie no matter what. You’ve got a lot of integrity and I really like that. You’re a true professional, and I value that. So get your butt back here tomorrow and every day until I call the wrap, because no matter what, this film is yours.”
Tristan grinned and reached for Ethan’s hand, giving it a solid shake. “Thanks, Ethan. I’ll see you tomorrow.”
He turned and left then, and went straight to Valerie’s house. He was relieved to see her car parked in the driveway, though he wasn’t sure he could get past the front door with her. He went up to it and knocked with his heart in his hand.
She answered and scowled at him. “I have something for you,” she said, walking into the house.
He realized that she meant for him to wait on the front porch, but he followed her in anyway, and closed the door behind him, locking it.
She came back a moment later with a check in her hand. “Here you go; ten thousand dollars. Thank you for the help, and the loan.”
He took the check from her silently, folding it and sliding it into his breast pocket. He drew in a deep breath and locked his eyes on hers.
“Valerie, I need to talk with you. I want you to know what really happened between me and Yvette.”
He motioned for her to sit on the sofa and she crossed her arms over her chest and stood obstinately before him.
“Fine. Say your piece.”
She didn’t feel as if she had any real right to kick him out after handing him a check for the ten grand that he had loaned her to save her grandmother’s house. She felt obligated to at least listen to him.
He slid his fingers into the front pockets of his pants and began to explain. “It was the director. Ethan. You met him at that party we went to. He wanted us to do our sex scene and I guess I just wasn’t into it because I couldn’t stop thinking about you, and she just couldn’t inspire me enough to make it seem believable on camera, so Ethan told us to get out and practice until we got it right.
“There was no spark and he needed a spark for the film. So we went out. She told me we were practicing when we were in the back of that limo… rehearsing for our scene, and then she dropped her top and the driver opened the door. I didn’t know that was going to happen. If you look closely enough at the pictures, you’ll see that I’m wearing my pants, and that they are all the way up and fastened.
“She and I weren’t having sex. She was posing for the cameras. It was a set up. She did try to come on to me, and I kicked her out. Ethan was so surprised and impressed by that that he said he’s changing the sex scene and they’re rewriting the script. All of that because I just couldn’t get over the woman who I really love. I couldn’t get over you. I didn’t care that I was supposed to do a hot scene with her. The only woman I want any heat with is you. I love you, Valerie. I really, truly, love you.”
He walked toward her, his eyes steady on hers, searching her face for her response.
Valerie was frozen in place. Everything he said made sense, except for the last thing that he had said. It felt somehow to her as if had gotten stuck in her mind and she just couldn’t quite process it.
“You… you love me?” she repeated, and he smiled at her and nodded, reaching for her hands.
“I love you. In fact, I love you so much that I can’t imagine my life without you. I want you to be mine; my leading lady, and the sweet, beautiful, thoughtful, kind, passionate love of my life. Marry me, Valerie. It doesn’t have to be now or in six months, or even in six years, but just promise me that someday you will marry me, and make me the luckiest, happiest man in the world, please.” He lifted her hands to his mouth and kissed the back of both of them.
Tears rolled down her cheeks again, but they met with
a smile that was as bright as the sun.
“I love you, too, Tristan, and I will marry you. I love you…” she repeated, loving the sound of saying it out loud to him, and the way it felt to speak those words to him as she looked into his eyes.
He took her in his arms then and kissed her softly and sweetly, and she knew without a doubt in her mind that right in his arms was where she wanted to spend the rest of her life. Always and forever.
