A choked gasp caught in her throat when his hands grasped her knees and gently forced them apart, allowing him to move forward between her legs. "Because,” Laura sobbed, letting loose a whole new floodtide of emotion. “I don't want this to end, but I'm afraid it's all just a dream. How can any of this be?” Her voice raised several octaves as anguish choked off her throat.
Barnabas smiled with reassurance. Amber sparks flashed through his eyes as he looked at her with an expression full of comfort and faith. “I guess God was listening after all."

Shannon Leigh is a practicing registered nurse who graduated with a BSN, RN from the Indiana University School of nursing in May of 1996. She is happily married and lives in Indiana with her husband, four sons, two cats, and a spoiled chow chow named Aysia.
