He saw the mischievous expression on her face and he threw his head back and laughed. She was kidding around with him, but he made a silent vow he would never call her by that name again. “You know what, mi querida? I wouldn’t have had it any other way. I’m delighted to have you with me. When you were gone, I nearly fell apart.” He raised her hand to his lips once more. Her fingers trembled. “I’m glad you’re safe. You’ve made me realize there was something amazing missing from my life before. Love. I wasn’t ready for it, but I am now. Whatever time you need to make up your mind, I can give it to you. There’s no hurry.”
“I feel—”
“I understand we barely know each other, and it is too soon, too early, but really…you should not feel pressured. Just because I love you, does not mean you have to feel the same way. You can take your time. We will be like any other couple who gets to know each other over time.”
She put a hand on his lips before he could continue his one sided conversation. “Give me a second here, please.” Paige took a deep breath.
He braced himself.
“I love you too.”
“You love me?”
“No man has ever mattered so much in my life like you. Yeah, I’m nervous as hell. Yeah, I didn’t think I was ready to be in a committed relationship, but after seeing Amor and then the kidnapping, I’ve sorted out my priorities, and this relationship is important to me.”
He tried to make sense of her words. All he heard was she felt the same way. “I love you.”
She kissed him lightly on the lips. “I don’t need any more time to decide anything. You and I, we belong together and that’s just how I feel.”
“Estás segura?”
Paige chuckled. “I’m not sure I know what you just said, but I’m going to tell you this…I. Love. You” She punctuated each word with a kiss. “And yes, that’s how I really feel.”
He swept her into his arms before she had a chance to say anything else. Her lips moved under his with a passion that matched what swirled in his heart.
This was love, true and powerful. It struck him hard and fast and he was powerless. And now that he found her, he never wanted to let her go. She was the right woman for him. She was his. They would be happy together, and that was all that mattered.
This was the beginning of their journey, and he couldn’t wait to ride off into the sunset with her.

Roxy Wilson, a self-professed book junkie, was born and bred in a beautiful island in the Caribbean.
As a graduate with a degree in Education, she writes blogs which help readers to think critically about and appreciate poetry. Recently, however, she decided to delve into the world of writing interracial and multicultural romance stories.
