“And have you come back to the city for good now?”
Anabelle shook her head, her straw bonnet moving slightly with her movements. “Only for the next few months. Then Ned will take up a position teaching music at a school in Boston. But we’ll be staying at Mother’s until then.”
“Oh, well, we can get together for awhile, at least.”
“Yes. I doubt there’s a greater blessing than friendship. I’m truly looking forward to renewing ours again.”
“So am I.”
The sound of clomping footsteps carried from the back porch.
“And here come those husbands of ours. Gabi, would you mind getting out a few more cups? We want our friends to tell us all about Europe and the wondrous sights they saw while they were there.” But Eliza knew the most wonderful sight was the love between friends and family together at last.

Sally Laity has successfully written several novels, including a coauthored series for Tyndale, three Barbour novellas, and six Heartsongs. Her favorite thing these days is counseling new authors via the Internet. Sally always loved to write, and after her four children were grown she took college writing courses and attended Christian writing conferences. She has written both historical and contemporary romances and considers it a joy to know that the Lord can touch other hearts through her stories. She makes her home in Bakersfield, California, with her husband and enjoys being a grandma.
