My Masters' Nightmare Season 1, Episode 8 Questions

“God will protect you, my lamb. I will also protect and love you, for we are now one.”
His shaking picked up again, my words not calming him down. It melted my heart, made me want to protect him even more, although, again, I knew without a doubt I’d hurt him if he disobeyed me, as I had done to his brother. Yet, my heart told me this one wouldn’t be any trouble, only pure joy.
My gaze moved to Matteo as he entered the soldier’s room. Anger rose within me, but I clamped it down, staving my greed, because my nephew would keep for now.
A blood curdling scream came from the Daughters of Eve’s room, making my head snap to their door. Then another one sounded, the girls within those walls crying for my brother to stop, which he wouldn’t: Christo’s party was only just getting started.
“Please help them,” a small voice said, the accent surprising me.
I looked down at the boy. “Speak again.”
He kept his face pressed to my chest. “Please help my friends.”
“Are you French?”
He glanced up at me, those big eyes so enchantingly timid. “Yes.”
I brushed his soft curls aside. “You have such a pretty voice. Do you go to church?”
He nodded.
“Do you sing the songs of the gospel?”
He nodded again, his body going stiff as another scream sounded.
“Will you sing Ave Maria for the Daughters of Eve?”
“Daughters of Eve?”
“The Landi sisters. Although I don’t like their kind, there is one that holds my respect: the Mother of our Lord. You will sing her song for the daughters.”
Yet another scream came from the room.
“I … please stop that man from hurting them.”
“I might consider it if you sing for me.”
He screwed up his face, looking as though he was going to burst into a fresh batch of tears.
I placed a finger under his chin and lifted his face up. “I promise I will save at least one of the sisters if you sing for me.”
“Save them all.”
“I’m not sure I can do that, but for you I will try. So, sing, my angel,” I let go of his chin, “and I will go help them once you have finished.”
He breathed in, then let it out, the voice that followed sending chills up my arms. I stared at him in astonishment. His voice was like nothing I had ever heard before, the sound not of this world, such purity within those notes, heaven to my ears. I listened, captivated by this angel as he sung. A scream made him stop.
“Continue,” I said.
He started singing again, his voice bringing tears to my eyes. He was mine, and I was never letting him go. I leaned back into the couch, watching him sing. Strains of Ave Maria filled the house along with screams—both heaven and hell trapped within these four walls.
