Jane pushed her husband aside and continued her conversation with Cruz and Lucy. It was indeed a special moment for a special group of friends.
“Ok, Steve, let’s get this stuff home before it gets dark, Jane ordered!
Steve went about the chores of securing the premises. Her rigged different types of alert traps with pop cans and marbles strung together with cord. It was a leftover Vietnam thing.
“Your dad sure had a lot of neat stuff stored down in the basement. These marbles must have been from his childhood. Now look what we’re using them for”, he stated as he rigged the last of his traps!
Jane prepared a special Cajun Wedding dinner to the background of Acadian Rose.
“It doesn’t look like the Fiddleheads is open tonight”, Jane observed through her kitchen window.
Steve hauled in the firewood supply for the evening as he secured the premises and surveyed the status of the firearms in the gun cabinet.
“I didn’t hear from Dave Harris the big meeting today”, Steve reported.
“There was probably nothing to report”, Jane thought.
“You should not be cooking on our wedding night”, Steve requested!
“Would you rather have a frozen pizza”, Jane answered sarcastically? “I want to do this. I feel like making this. It’s what my parents had on their wedding night. I miss Lucy in the kitchen. Here, we’re starting off with praline and pecan appetizers, an old Creole favorite”.
“I’m going to make us a couple of French 45’s to go with the Acadian Rose”, Steve offered.
“I really miss Cruz and Lucy. This would be a perfect party if they were here to share in this”, Jane said sadly.
“We‘re going to do the best we can, sweet thing”, Steve said with his most comforting effort. “We have everything we need and I am the happiest camper in the campground”!
Jane squeezed her man with a smile as she toasted the most perfect union on the planet, to use Cruz’s line.
“Well, Mr. Slattery, if we don’t wake up tomorrow morning, I’ll have the comfort and satisfaction of knowing that I’m in the place I want to be, doing what I want to do, and sharing it with the man of my dreams for all of eternity”!
Aliens in the Allagash
Epilogue
The lifecycle of the Allagash has been altered forever. The reality of survival on the greater planet has once again been compromised and is continuously being threatened. Mankind has the vivacity to be extraordinarily resilient. Can we recover? It’s very unlikely. Consider that more than half of the planet’s wild animal population has been eradicated in the last forty years, not centuries. What makes us different from them?
The various agencies, accountings, and programs cited throughout this work are not fictional. Actual claims and circumstances are valid and too numerous to ignore. A divisive trend of personal documentaries is evident, but not in itself conclusive. However, the underlying biopics were used to establish a contentious trail of deception and trickery by the aforementioned agencies we trust.
Did the events actually happen? Are they happening now? You will find that the names and places are real. Acadians of the Allagash are the soul of the earth and are not receptive to unwarranted ridicule and embarrassment. They have no reason or motivation to discuss these events for anyone else’s entertainment value or subsequent risk to their own stability.
We don’t know if the characters within this work have survived. Not enough time has passed. You will need to provide closure for yourself. What we do know is that all of the environmental trends as well as outside influences are currently in motion.
There is only anticipation that the pristine life of the Allagash can survive. Man is not the first species to face extinction, nor will it be the last. The sustenance that our existence depends on is rapidly being transformed. As for the presence of visitors from the beyond, note that it would be statistically impossible to deny their presence. But that alone doesn’t substantiate their existence. However, what was the actual reason that the U.S. Government rapidly endorsed funding for the Outer Air Battle program, and then marketed it as a Hollywood stage name? Was it the Chinese-Russian alliance? Not likely. The U.S. had other means to deal with that threat.
Opinions in this epilogue are based on statistical renderings, not personal endorsements. What began as a semi-fictional work of characters, personalities, and circumstances evolved into that of a survival guide. We all anticipate a sequel of personal choices and decisions. How will you handle a similar incursion that lands at your doorstep? Let’s hope that the people of the Allagash can point the way.
