“It’s great,” Alec told him, grinning. “You all right with that?” Alec asked, taking a few strands of her hair between his fingers.
“It’s fine.” Fern nodded.
It’d taken Alec a few weeks to recover. Things had been fuzzy, but his clarity had eventually returned. Johnny was serving time in jail for assault. Jada had come to visit them and assured her that Johnny would be cooling his heels for a long time.
“Are we going somewhere hot or cold? I haven’t skied in ages,” Fern said, glancing between them. Alec’s brow rose in question.
“Hot,” Levi said, his tone exasperated. “I’m not icing my ass on any ski slope.” Alec laughed.
“Oh yeah.” Alec smiled. He leaned into her, nibbling her ear lobe. “The hotter the better.”
