“Your turn,” he husked, barely controlling the urge to rip her leather leggings off and throw her down on the bed.
His heart stopped as she slid off the last remnants of clothing then restarted full speed. Miles didn’t hold back then, he picked her up and fell backward onto the bed with Annabelle on top of him.
“I’ll squish you!” She laughed.
He shook his head and gave her a pat on the rump. “If it were possible to then I’d die happy.”
“Idiot,” she mumbled with warmth in her eyes.
He took her lips in a kiss so full of love and crazed lust that she’d have no doubt of his feelings. Annabelle slid her core over his erection and he shivered all over. When she reached the tip, she took him all the way inside and they both let out a muffled groan. He loved watching her when she rode him this way, her hair falling around her face in messy curls, her cheeks faintly flushed, and her breasts bobbing as she slid up then down. Nothing got him hotter.
As her pace increased, Miles held on to the orgasm building with intense force. His fingers delved into the soft curls at her core and he stroked the swollen nub. Annabelle’s cries ricocheted through the room and her honeyed channel convulsed around him. The way her cheeks flushed and eyes stared at him, slightly out of focus, tugged at his heartstrings. She was so beautiful. He was the luckiest man alive.
Once her rhythm slowed, Miles rolled them on the bed so he was above her and ground his hips into her in a slow, lethargic rhythm. He knew she deserved better than him. Annabelle was so kind and caring, so selfless and good right to the core that she deserved someone who was just as good.
On their wedding night he’d promised her that he’d spend the rest of his life trying to be good enough for her. When she’d told him he was more than she deserved he knew that couldn’t be true.
As he continued to thrust into her, his eyes never leaving her sparkling blue ones, waves of pleasure roared through him and he ached for release. He held back though, waited patiently for her orgasm to build too. After all, he may not deserve her or be good enough for her in any sense of the word, but he could give her all the pleasure and love he was capable of.
She convulsed around him again and he released the tight grip he held on control. The climax crashed through him with as much force as a stormy sea battering against cliff faces. He dropped his head to kiss her gently before rolling onto his side, bringing her with him and holding her against his chest.
His heart was pounding in rhythm with hers as they lay together, wrapped in each other’s arms for a moment while their breathing slowed. Miles realized something then, something that made him think that he might deserve her after all.
“I love you more than anyone else ever could, Mrs. Oliver,” he whispered into her dark red hair. He wasn’t being smug, just stating a fact.
“I know you do.” She sighed contentedly against his chest. “And I love you just as much.”
Hearing the words never failed to send his heart into overdrive. Each beat pounded out heated blood that spread through him, from the top of his head right down to the tips of his toes.
And he knew Annabelle felt it too. She didn’t so much tell him as show him how she felt—with her loving looks, the secret smiles they shared, and the fact that she was always eager as ever to make love to him.
“I can’t wait until after the tour next year.” She sighed against his chest.
“Next year?”
“Mmm,” she murmured. “When we can start our own family.”
Miles didn’t think it was possible to be happier than he was, but apparently he could. His heart swelled in his chest and a euphoric glow soared through him.
“I can’t wait either,” he whispered, hugging her so close he worried she might find it difficult to breathe. Instead of pulling away though, she tightened her grip on him.
He’d promised her once that everything would work out all right for her in the end; he hadn’t known that it would all work out so well for him too. He couldn’t help feel elated that it did, his guilt about deserving this kind of joy long forgotten.
About Aimée Duffy
For as long as I can remember, I’ve had a good book in my hands. In primary school I loved Roald Dahl. In high school my English teacher introduced me to Charles Dickens, Stephen King, Jane Austin, Emily Bronte, and Shakespeare. It was then that I discovered my love for romance and I’ve wanted to pen my own imaginary heroes and heroines for others to enjoy ever since. Only in the last few years was I lucky enough to meet some fabulous and encouraging people to help me gain the skills to make that dream possible.
I live in sunny Scotland in a small town near the Ochils and work nine to five in a solicitors. In my free time, you’ll find me on Facebook, stalking *cough* following friends on Twitter and may even catch me shoe shopping.
