The Siege of Kadenburg

“Is there anything else I can get for you?”
Sammy shrugged her shoulders as she took her coat from the woman’s hands, quickly putting it on over her hospital gown.
“No,” she shook her head quickly. “I need a smoke, so I’m gonna go do that,” she scribbled her signature on the dotted line before glancing at the nurse again. “I’ll be back.”
As she hurried down the hallway towards the elevator, she was pretty certain she heard the nurse saying something about odd patients and their bad habits. Not that it mattered now. Sammy would be gone in about five minutes and this nightmare would be behind her.
At least that’s what she thought as she pushed the elevator button.

“Dinner was good, wasn’t it?” Presley asked as she put away the last of the freshly cleaned dishes.
Lorcan glanced up at her from the sink, giving her a small grin before nodding, “Yeah, Darlin’. It was great. I think my mom was seriously impressed with your skills.”
He felt the light smack to his shoulder and he couldn’t help but to laugh at her. The night had gone so well, and everyone seemed to be in relatively good moods. Even Arnold had managed to keep his opinions to himself and made it through the dinner without making any remarks about Natalie. Thank Urseth.
“Well, I’m glad that everyone enjoyed the pasta bake. It’s the first recipe I’ve tried out of the cook book your mother gave me. Did you like it?”
Lorcan turned the faucet off, his eyes soon landing on Presley’s beautiful face as he smirked.
“Of course I liked it,” he said softly. “But I’m really looking forward to that dessert you promised me.”
He took pleasure in watching the heat rush into Presley’s cheeks. She was too adorable to handle sometimes. He immediately pulled her into his arms as his lips brushed against her forehead.
“I’m just teasing,” he mumbled against her smooth skin. “If you’re not in the mood, I won’t push it.”
Presley pulled back, staring at him with a frown on her lips.
“Who said I wasn’t in the mood?” She asked. “Believe it or not, I think pregnancy makes me more…..open to the idea than usual.”
“Oh, really?” Lorcan asked huskily. He scooped her up in his arms, carrying her bridal style down the short hallway that led to their bedroom. They didn’t have much-yet-but they did have a nice queen sized bed. It was the one he’d had when he lived with Liam in town, but now it was here and that was okay. Of course, that meant Rutley didn’t have a bed to sleep in since he and Dimitri had taken over residency at the apartment, but…..
“Lorcan!” Presley gasped, squirming beneath him as his lips attacked her neck. “That tickles.”
He chuckled, careful to keep his weight off her as his knees dug into the mattress. He kissed down to her collarbone and nipped playfully before lifting his head to gaze at her.
“Do you want me to stop?” He asked, drinking in the sight of her flustered skin and sparkling eyes.
“I’ll kill you if you do.” She smiled, moving her hand to the back of his neck and pulling his lips down to her own. She kissed him sweetly, but he could feel the hunger growing inside her. The scent of her arousal screamed out to him, and Lorcan would answer the call.
“Oh, Lorcan.” Presley whimpered as he made his way down her body. He kissed between her breasts, pushing her shirt upwards before planting a softer kiss just above her bellybutton. Their baby was in there. He could hear its tiny heartbeat. It made his heart jump and do backflips.
“I love you,” Lorcan whispered before lifting his eyes to gaze at Presley. “And I love you, too.”
Presley was gazing at him. Her green eyes were filled with love and Lorcan couldn’t thank Urseth enough that her love was for him and their cub. He was a damn lucky man.
“I love you.” Presley whispered, allowing her head to fall back against the pillow as Lorcan carefully unbuttoned her jeans and peeled them away from her legs.
It wasn’t long before their clothes were piled up on the floor, and Lorcan sank between her legs. He pressed a kiss against her hip bone and traveled back to her lips as he rubbed his pulsating length against her inner thigh.
“Oh, please.” Presley whispered. Her small, warm hands glided up and down his muscular arms as he caught her lips in another kiss.
She would never have to ask twice.
Lorcan pushed his hips forward, burying himself in the heated sanctuary he liked to call home. Presley’s moan was stifled against his mouth as he kissed her again, thrusting gently as the mattress creaked beneath them.
“Oh, yes,” Presley panted as she raked her nails down his back. “Don’t stop. Please don’t stop, baby.”
“Never.” He promised. He kept his weight off of her as his hips connected with her thighs again and again. His heart was hammering against his ribcage as he nipped at her jawline, listening intently to the sound of her breathing.
“Lorcan!” She gasped, arching her back as her nails bit into the flesh of his upper back. He could feel her trembling beneath him, and he knew it wouldn’t be long before he brought her to her peak.
“Go ahead, darlin’.” He whispered huskily, biting at her shoulder delicately. He knew that spot like the back of his hand. The memory of their coupling was still very fresh in his mind; the night they became one in the eyes of Urseth. The night he promised to be hers and hers alone, forever and for always.
As Presley’s breathing became labored and shallow, Lorcan took it upon himself to push her further over the edge. He hooked his fingers beneath the bend of her knee, lifting her leg higher so he could reach her sweet spot from a new angle. He gazed at his beautiful mate in pure awe as she lost herself in ecstasy.
A few moments later, he found himself experiencing the same level of euphoria. He stilled atop of her, groaning loudly as his orgasm washed over him. He carefully rolled off of her, but quickly collected her trembling body against his chest.
“I love you,” he murmured, kissing her forehead. “You’re my world, Presley Goult.”
“I love you more,” Presley promised in a tired voice. “You’re my universe, Lorcan Bamey.”
———————————-
Sometimes Dimitri felt like he was babysitting rather than serving as an alpha. Rutley was a lot to handle occasionally, but he was confident he could keep the reigns tight until his new beta learned everything he needed to know.
Rutley wasn’t just a beta though. They were friends, and lately that friendship had been tested, especially since the she-wolf came into play. Who the hell was she, anyway?
Dimitri had too many questions and not enough answers. Worries still plagued him and the whole A-Douchebag-Could-Be-Your-Dad thing wasn’t helping. At all.
Things had been visibly tense between Rutley and himself. Even at the dinner, Mrs. Bamey kept giving them worried glances, though she said nothing. Good. He wasn’t sure he could handle any more Mama Bear concern at the moment. He knew she had good intentions, but this was something he needed to work through on his own.
He wasn’t even sure if she’d forgiven him for the kissing incident in the bedroom that night. Hell, he wouldn’t even know about it had he not read Rutley’s mind one evening. That had been a shit storm and a half…..
But still, Dimitri couldn’t be bothered with any of this. Not right now; maybe not ever. There was too much he needed to be focused on. He needed to be prepared for when Breslin returned to Kadenburg. Things were running smoothly for now, but he knew Breslin would be back one day. Everyone needed to be ready for that day to come.
“Have you seen the snow yet?” Rutley asked eagerly as he popped his head into Dimitri’s room. It had once been Liam’s room, but now it was his. His love’s scent still lingered on the walls, and Dimitri took comfort in that. God, he missed Liam…..
“Nope,” Dimitri replied as he closed the lid on his laptop and glanced up at him. He pinched at the bridge of his nose, sighing. “I suppose
it’s coming a doozy out there, huh?”
“Doozy is an understatement,” Rutley replied excitedly. “Dude, kids will be lucky if they have school within the next week!”
“Is it that bad?” Dimitri pushed the computer chair backwards, standing from it before he made his way to the window. He pulled the curtain away to stare outside. All he could see was white. “Holy shit.”
“Right?” Rutley was by his side suddenly, and Dimitri tensed. He didn’t need to be so close…..
Dimitri immediately closed the curtain, turning his head to glance at the other wolf. Sometimes Rutley was like a kid. He got excited easily, and he was amused by the simplest things. Liam was like that in a lot of ways, too.
“Do you think the power will go out?” Rutley asked after a moment. “I found some flashlights beneath the sink and there were a few candles in the living room closet. I thought they might come in handy; just in case.”
Dimitri nodded, “Good thinking.”
“Well, I’m not stupid,” Rutley chortled with another smile. “And since I know diddly-squat about kerosene heaters, I figured we ought to call Mr. Bamey and see if he’s got a generator we can borrow.”
Freaking kerosene heaters…..
“That’s probably not a bad idea.” Dimitri agreed as he stepped towards the doorway.
“Hey.” Rutley said quickly.
Dimitri stopped, turning to gaze at him again.
“Are you still mad at me?” Rutley asked. And he didn’t just ask with his voice. He was asking with those damn puppy dog eyes and a small frown that twisted Dimitri’s innards into smithereens. What the hell?
“No,” Dimitri sighed. “I wasn’t mad at you earlier either. I just want you to be careful.”
“Why is everyone always saying that to me?” Rutley scowled. “I can hardly go anywhere without you all being paranoid my dad will see me and kill me. I’m tired of being careful. I just want to do what I want to do.”
“I know,” Dimitri’s nostrils flared as his brows lowered on his forehead. “But I’m not going to risk your father pumping you full of silver like he did me; like he did Greg.”
“You have no actual proof he shot Greg,” Rutley frowned. “That could’ve been anybody.”
“And how many werewolf hunters do you know in this town?” Dimitri’s arms crossed over his chest as he waited for a reply. There were only two werewolf hunters in Kadenburg, and one of them didn’t have a reason to hunt anymore.
“I’m just saying…if my dad was responsible for Greg, then Greg would be dead.”
“That’s not true,” Dimitri argued as he made his way down the hallway and entered the kitchen. “Greg is different. The silver wouldn’t affect him like it would you or me. He’s part ursithrope too. Unless your dad used a pepper laced silver bullet that kid is basically invincible.”
He was surprised by the profound silence lingering in the air as Rutley didn’t seem to know what to say. That was definitely a first. Rutley always had a comeback for everything. He was a motor mouth, or as Liam had once called him, ‘The Mouth of the South’. Dimitri totally understood.
Picking up his cellphone from the countertop, Dimitri slid his thumb over the screen until he found Mr. Bamey’s home telephone number. He pressed the call button and lifted the phone to his ear, listening.
After five rings, he decided that it must’ve been too late to call. Glancing at the clock on the wall, Dimitri instantly wanted to kick himself. Of course it was too damn late to call. It was nearing two in the morning. Where had the time gone?
“Jesus, it’s coming a big one out there,” Rutley stated in awe as he pressed his nose against the small window at the top of their back door. “Nobody’s going to be going anywhere in this mess.”
“Well then I suppose it’s a good thing neither of us are working then, huh?” Dimitri asked.
“Hey, I could work,” Rutley frowned, pulling away from the glass and turning his head to shoot a glare in Dimitri’s direction. “But noooo. I have to be ‘careful’, remember?” He actually used finger quotes to emphasize on the careful bit. Real mature.
Dimitri rolled his eyes, “I’m not keeping you here against your will,” He offered in a calm voice. “If you want to go out there and get shot, go for it. But don’t you dare come crying to me if Breslin shows up and I’m not there to save you.”
“You think I need saving?” Rutley asked, seemingly offended. “Do I look like I’m helpless?”
Dimitri’s eyes slowly swept over the other male’s frame before quickly averting his gaze elsewhere. He had no business to be observing the chiseled frame he knew Rutley had beneath that K.H.S. baseball t-shirt.
“I’m going to bed.” Dimitri mumbled, taking a step forward.
Rutley was in front of him in an instant. Damn him for giving this kid werewolf super speed. Dimitri’s nostrils flared again as he stared down at him.
“Get out of my way, Rut.”
“Or what?” Rutley challenged with a quirked brow. “Gonna kick my ass?”
“I could totally kick your ass,” Dimitri promised as he gently pushed past him and continued on his way down the hall. He seriously wasn’t expecting Rutley to jump on his frigging back. He stumbled forward, reaching out to grab for the wall. “What in the hell, Rutley?”
“I want to see if you can kick my ass.” Rutley snickered.
Dimitri was quickly growing agitated with the young werewolf as Rutley’s knuckles rubbed against his scalp, fast and painful.
“What are you? Ten?” Dimitri growled, reaching a hand backwards in an attempt to grab Rutley’s shirt. “Get off of me!”
“Try to kick my ass!” Rutley demanded as he boxed his ears and then hopped down.
Dimitri growled in a dangerous manner as he whirled about, glowering at the other male. “Didn’t your grandma ever tell you to be careful what you wish for?”
Rutley gave him a cheeky grin as he shrugged his shoulders, “Kick. My. Ass.”
“Oh, screw it,” Dimitri leapt at him. Rutley may have enjoyed his newly acquired powers, but Dimitri had been in this game a hell of a lot longer. They both crashed against the floor as Dimitri easily tackled him. He snapped his fangs in a playful warning. “I could’ve ripped your throat out just now.”
“Yes, but the point is you didn’t.” Rutley chuckled.
“No, the point is I could have, and any other werewolf probably would have. This isn’t a game, Rutley.”
“That’s your problem,” Rutley frowned, staring up at him with those damning blue eyes of his. “You need to loosen up. Where’s the fun in being careful all the time? You have to have some fun.”
“I’ve had plenty of fun,” Dimitri replied as he attempted to roll off him. He was surprised when Rutley turned the tables and reversed their position. He was lying on his back now with his beta grinning down at him. What a shit eating grin that was too. “Get off me.”
“No,” Rutley wiggled his eyebrows and leaned back on his haunches. “I’m proving a point here.”
“If you think I won’t take you for a cruise in bruise town, you’ve got another thing coming.”
“Take me for a cruise in bruise town?” Rutley snorted. “What the heck does that even mean? What language is that?”
Dimitri’s skin tingled and heated as he swallowed hard and glared at the younger wolf. Rutley was teetering on a dangerous line. “Get off me.”
“Awwww, do I have to?” Rutley asked. He leaned down and rested his hands against the floor on either side of Dimitri’s head as the tips of their noses touched. His body was way too close for comfort as their midsections grazes against one another.
“Yes, you have to. “ Dimitri whispered hoarsely.
Something changed in Rutley’s demeanor as his blue eyes darkened. There was an emotion on his face that needed no explanation. He pressed his hips into Dimitri’s. “Are you so sure about that?” Rutley asked huskily.
“Rut….”
Rutley gently rolled his hi
ps against his alpha’s and Dimitri felt the sweet friction from thin layers of clothing and growing arousal rubbing together. His eyes closed and every part of his body awoke to the familiar calling of animalistic lust.
“Rut…..”
“You feel good,” Rutley groaned as he continued grinding down against him. He buried his face against Dimitri’s neck and Dimitri was finding it difficult to hang on to the logical part of his brain. He was rock hard and aching for the male writhing atop him. His hands flew to Rutley’s waist as he pulled their hips together again, resulting in Rutley’s voice breaking in a cry of pleasure. “Fuck….”
“You smell good.” Dimitri growled as they dry humped each other with pathetic desperation. He could feel Rutley’s cock, ready and willing, pressing against his through the flimsy fabric of their pants. What he wouldn’t give to rip those blasted things off his body and bury himself as deep as possible inside his beta. Fuck, he wanted to. He needed to.
“I’m gonna come,” Rutley whined as he raked his teeth down Dimitri’s neck. “Shit….aw fuck…”
Dimitri lost himself in the moment as sweat rolled down his temple. Again and again his hips met his beta’s and they rose higher and higher together. He needed the release only the beautiful wolf above him could provide. His stomach muscles clenched and he felt the merciful relief of his orgasm as Rutley trembled against him.
“Fuck! Fuck!” Rutley cried as the warmth of their climaxes drenched the material of Dimitri’s pants. Dimitri released the grip he didn’t realize he’d had on his beta’s hair before collapsing against the floor. It would take forever for his heart rate to return to normal.
It seemed to be an eternity before he found his voice again.
“We shouldn’t have done that,” Dimitri whispered in a pained voice. Liam’s face was vivid in his mind as he winced. He’d betrayed his love. “Do you hear me?”
“Yeah,” Rutley whispered. “I don’t know what happened.”
Dimitri pushed himself up from the floor and wiped the sweat away from his brow before glancing down at his beta. Rutley’s skin glistened with perspiration and his skin was flushed from their activities; their sinful, wrong activities.
