“Do you think I should wait to tell Rick?”
Opus rolled over and got down on the carpet on all fours, looking up at Tina.
“I’m serious. I’m worried. The doctors said I might not ever be able to have babies and I’m worried if I tell him and I lose it…”
Opus sneezed. Tina’s tears fell softly.
“You’re right. It is bullshit. Let’s call him and ask him to bring a pizza home. Then we can tell him.”
Opus chuffed.

Author’s Note
I never imagined writing a second Opus storyline when I first penned One Man’s Opus. It was my way of healing. When you learn and grow with a fuzzy companion, losing them feels like losing part of yourself. I had to write One Man’s Opus as something to remember Beast by and I never thought it would take off and sell the way it did.
Saying all of that, with prodding from family, friends and fans, I decided to Pen another Opus book. This one picks up after the near deadly events of the winter before. I’m not sure if there is another Opus story after this one, but I’m going to let the fans decide. Shoot me an email and tell me what you think.
These two stories varied from my usual prepper post apocalyptic fiction and Opus Odyssey ventured closer into thriller territory than the first one. There was only one thing I thought I could do to make this story believable and fair. Drop the family into a bad situation and then remove all their advantages and leave them the basics. Yes, they weren’t lost in the desert long, but for that area more than that becomes a survival story for different reasons than a mad gunman.
As always, thank you for reading the story! Feel free to contact me via Facebook or email at boyd3@live.com and tell me if you want more of Opus & Ophelia!
