“I want us to meet up on tomorrow. I’ve thought this over long and hard and I feel that we can be a big help to each other. And just to make this easier, we can schedule to have a paternity test done this week for Delia.”
“Wait a minute,” Dillon said feeling like she was giving him too much too soon. “So, now you want me to have the paternity test after you practically begged me to leave it alone.”
“I know I did and I’m sorry about that. I should’ve sorted out my thoughts a little longer before we spoke. I apologize about that, but now I’ve had a change of heart. I think that Delia should know who her father is.”
Dillon was caught off guard as he asked, “Are you saying that Delia is my daughter?”
Zoe took in a deep breath while pressing her hand nervously across her chest.
“I still want you to have the DNA test so no one ever has to question it.”
Dillon’s eyes widened. “Are you serious? Is Delia really my daughter?”
“Yes,” Rihanna confirmed. “She is your daughter. However, it’s more complicated than you know. We’ll talk more about it tomorrow when we meet up.”
“What do you mean that it’s complicated?” Dillon questioned with a frown.
Rihanna ignored his question as she continued. “I’ll call you tomorrow with the location for us to meet. Talk to you then,” she said, and then ended their call.
Dillon sat clueless and confused for a moment as Zoe quietly sat behind him. He glanced back over his shoulder to take a look at her. Her head had dropped and she was now fidgeting instead of biting her nails.
“You okay?” he questioned.
“Is Delia yours?” she questioned back.
“Rihanna says that she is, but we’re gonna have the test done anyway.” He confessed.
“I see,” Zoe said.
Dillon turned to hug her. “It’s gonna be okay,” he said. “What did you tell me if hypothetically we found out that Delia was mine?”
Zoe glanced up at his face and then softly responded. “I said that I wouldn’t leave you.”
“Have you changed your mind?”
“No,” Zoe sincerely said while softly kissing him on the lips. “Having a daughter that was before my time will not make me leave you. I love you. I just wish the bitch would’ve been upfront in the beginning.” She added.
Dillon had to grin a little. Zoe was definitely the feisty one. At that moment he felt like the luckiest man in the world. He’d just found out that he had a daughter, his woman was already accepting of her, and he was happy and finally filling fulfilled in life. In his mind, he felt like he should’ve been happy about it all. The only problem is that his gut keeps telling him differently.

Angel sat on the sofa inside of her house while eating an ice cream sandwich. It was now ten o’clock at night and Mark still hadn’t made it home. His behavior had been off and he’d been quite distant since Felisha had come home some two weeks prior. She felt lonely and insecure of her relationship. It was just a few weeks ago when Mark was confessing his love, but now his love seemed misplaced and definitely not with her. It seemed as if he had changed overnight. He went from being loving and caring, to being bossy and controlling. She couldn’t understand why they had to argue everyday about her going back to see her Psychiatrist. She wasn’t interested in sitting in front of a stranger and pouring her heart out anymore. She was good. He just couldn’t see it.
Once being around the kids she’d stopped taking her pills. In her mind, being around her own little family was what she needed to get her life back on the right track. However, it had become bothersome and annoying that Mark would fuss about her not taking the pills. She felt that she didn’t need them, because the kids became her drugs. She sat there with a puzzled look on her face. How could a man bring her such joy and then take it away? She just couldn’t wrap her mind around that. “
Her phone rang distracting her thoughts as she glanced down at it, and then picked it up. She was glad that somebody was calling her, because a minute longer with her own thoughts was going to drive her insane.
“Hey,” she quickly answered.
“Hey,” Logan spoke. “How are you?”
“I’m good, I guess.” She responded, but he could hear differently in her sad tone.
“Where’s Mark?”
Angel sighed. “He’s not here yet.”
“He’s starting to stay out more and more, I see.”
“Yeah, but he comes home most nights.” She countered.
“Most nights?” Logan pondered with displeasure.
“Well, you know he goes to see the kids now since they’re not allowed around me. He still thinks my behavior is off for some reason.” She said with a slick roll of the eyes. “So, he visits the kids, because he doesn’t feel it right to break a bond that he has just started building with them.”
“But how do you feel about that?”
“I don’t know how to feel about it. I mean, he tells me that he’s staying in a hotel. I have no choice but to believe him.”
“No, but how do you really feel about that? The kids aren’t coming around no more and they may never come back around again. I know that’s gotta bother you.” He said while trying to get her to open up.
Angel sat quietly for a moment. She’d been trying to play tough and emotionless during the whole ordeal just to prove a point that she was fine. However, she was far from it. “It does bother me.” She finally responded while almost getting choked on her words as tears wailed in the corners of her eyes.
“Well, why won’t you get the help you need. Mark is going to leave you if you don’t.” Logan truthfully told her.
“There is nothing wrong with me.” Angel spat.
“There is something wrong with you, especially if you believe what you just said.”
As always Angel went into defense mode. “You’re not concerned about me. You’re concerned about Felisha and why she hasn’t called you since she’s been out of the hospital. What are you thinking, that she has let Mark back in?”
“Well, last I checked Mark was your fiancé. Felisha is just a friend. If you felt like that was going to make me feel some type of way then I can only imagine how that must really make you feel.”
It was times like this that Angel hated the close bond that she and Logan shared. He was just like an older brother that was always trying to protect her; even when she felt like she didn’t need it.
“Logan, I think we’ve said all we need to say to each other today. I’ll talk with you later.” She told him, and then ended their call. Instantly, she started crying. Emotions poured in from all directions as she sat there hurt and feeling betrayed. If he left her, she wouldn’t know what to do. “He would never leave me,” she coached herself. “I just gotta get it together.”

Felisha headed down the hallway and peeked her head inside of Lil Romeo’s bedroom. “Is he sleep?” She whispered.
“He just fell asleep.” Mark said with a smile as he leaned down and kissed Lil Romeo on the head.
“Well, the twins are asleep, too. It’s getting late and I’m about to take it in myself.” She said as an indication that it was time for Mark to go.
Mark quietly crawled out of bed, and then laid the book that he was reading his son over on the nightstand. “Guess I’ll get on out of here.” He said as he followed Felisha down the hall and into the living room area of her home. For some reason in the past couple of weeks, he’d saw something different in his baby mama. She seemed more in control of her life and less of a push over. She didn’t take his shit and she didn’t mind telling him exactly how she felt. He smiled as he admired her curvaceous body as she walked him to the front door in a pair of Victoria’s Secret pajama pants and t-shirt.
“You’re looking good,” he said to start small talk before he left.
“Thanks,” Felisha responded. She really didn’t want to give him the time of day, but she found it easier to just get along for the
sake of the children.
“Um,” he hesitated. “I wanna thank you for allowing me this time to spend with the children. I know that you’ve gotten past the dirt I did while you were hospitalized, but I just want to apologize again for that. I did go about things the wrong way, but I had a yearning to be near my kids. You can say that it came from losing the baby I had with Angel. It’s just something in me now that wants to make sure that they’ll always be good and taken care of.”
Felisha smiled on the inside. Where has this man been all of my life? She thought, but quickly got over it. “Like I told you before. It had to be done. However,” she added. “I can’t stress enough how pissed off I was when I heard about it. I couldn’t believe you’d stoop that low.”
“That’s why I’ve tried to prove since then I had and still have nothing but good intentions.”
Felisha smiled. “You’ve proven that.” She said thinking about the way he just cut Angel off once he saw the first sign of danger.
He stood there silent for a moment as he looked at her. Because he’d been so caught up in his own little world he couldn’t see that the woman he may have needed all along was her. Was it right? No, but it was just the way he felt.
“Okaaaaaay,” Felisha sang with a chipper smile. “I think it’s time for you to go.”
“Oh yeah,” Mark said as he snapped out of his thoughts. “Let me get on outta here.” He opened the door up as Felisha stood with her arms crossed. He turned quickly before walking out as he faced her. “I’ll leave her for you,” he said to her surprise causing Felisha to bat her eyes.
“Say what now?”
Mark nervously cleared his throat. He didn’t want to push too soon, but he couldn’t help himself. “I’ve been through a lot and I just want to get it together. Why not be with the woman that has my children?”
“Mark, I think you’re moving too fast. Aren’t you engaged? You apparently have strong feelings for Angel or you wouldn’t have asked her to marry you.”
“I don’t know what I was thinking. We met at a time when we both were vulnerable. Things definitely picked up and before you know it, she was pregnant. It all happened so fast. Next thing you know, we’re engaged. I can’t lie; these past couple weeks have really made me look at her differently.”
Felisha shook her head. “Well, I don’t know what you’ve gotten yourself in, but you just can’t play with people’s heart.”
Mark nodded his head. “That’s true.” He agreed. “Once again, let me get outta here.”
“Yeah, I think that might be a good idea.” Felisha responded.
Mark turned to leave, but he stopped again to face her. This time he grabbed her by the face and pressed his lips against hers.”
Oh my, Felisha thought, but before she could back away he had slid his tongue in her mouth. Unable to resist his charm, she started kissing him back. Their tongues intertwined slowly as she let out a soft moan. My gosh, catch yourself, Felisha. She thought as she coached herself. She hadn’t had any dick in damn near a year causing her to become horny and wanting some really bad.
Mark eased his hand inside of her pajama pants and started caressing her bald kitty. Just the feeling of it had him wanting to bend Felisha over and hit it from the back like he used to. His finger slid inside of her juice box. It was slippery to the touch. “Damn Felisha,” he whispered.
“Mm,” Felisha moaned as Mark slid his index finger in and out of her. Her muscles clamped down on his finger while wishing for it to be his dick instead. He softly rubbed her clit back and forth. Sweet nectar oozed from her insides covering the base of his fingers. As his tongue went down her throat so did his finger as it crawled inside of her deeper and deeper.
“Aaaah,” she said while pushing his face back, and then taking in a deep breath. “Nooooooooo,” she whispered while steady pushing him back.
“Come on, Felisha. I’ve missed you.” He whispered.
“Nooooo Mark,” she softly whispered again. Her mouth was telling him no, but her body was telling him yes.
“Just let me make love to you,” he begged while pulling her back close to him.
This time Felisha pushed him back a little harder while wiping her lips with the back of her hand. “I can’t do this, Mark. Please, stop.” She told him. “I’m in a better place and I don’t want to rush anything, not even with you. I think that keeping my options open is what’s best for me.”
Mark smiled. He was definitely loving the woman that Felisha had become. Something about the way she now handled herself turned him up to the max. He eyed her down knowing that she wanted him, but this time he’d play by her rules. He nodded his head in understanding, and then said, “Okay.” As he walked off he licked his fingers while turning to face her. “I’ll call you later.”
Felisha smiled, but tried to maintain her composure. “Yeah, okay.” She responded with a wave of her hand, and then closed the front door shut.
Chapter 12
The next morning, Zoe was up bright and early. She couldn’t rest from knowing that Rihanna was coming into town to meet up with her man about a daughter that was possibly his. It was definitely not a meeting that she was looking forward to. She glanced over on the nightstand at the alarm clock displaying 7:14 a.m. She sighed feeling a little insecure about her relationship with Dillon. He mentioned that Rihanna had said something about things being complicated and that she’d wait to talk with him about it.
Why in the hell couldn’t she talk about it while he was on the phone? Zoe questioned herself as she crawled out of bed and made her way into the bathroom. This bitch is up to something. I can feel it. I know it’s some shady shit going on. She grabbed her toothbrush and a wash cloth from the bathroom closet. Ten minutes later, she’d washed up and was now coming out of the bathroom as Dillon’s phone alerted him of an incoming text message.
Without hesitation, she walked over to the bed where Dillon was still sleeping. She laid down beside him, and then kissed him softly on the back of his head. Thoughts about him meeting up with Rihanna played over and over in her mind to a point where she was nearly driving herself crazy.
As she lay there tossing and turning, the only other thing she could think about was Rihanna possibly wanting Dillon back. If Delia was his daughter then that could possibly bring them closer and that was something that she wasn’t so keen on. Even though Dillon reassured her, up and down that he had no interest in Rihanna whatsoever anymore, she still wasn’t convinced. She’d definitely been burned in the past by a man that claimed he loved her more than life itself, but the power of the pussy apparently gave him a change of heart. Although believing Dillon was far easier than believing her ex; Chico; the person she couldn’t trust was Rihanna and the secrets that she’d held on to for years.
Taking in a deep breath, and then slowly releasing it she eased out of bed again. This time she headed out of the bedroom for a drink of water, but instantly stopped the minute Dillon’s cell phone sounded off again with an incoming text message. She stood there for a moment to see if he’d move or wake up to see who was messaging him, but he never did. He didn’t move being that he was apparently sound asleep. Zoe then tiptoed over on the right side of the king size bed where Dillon was sleeping to retrieve his cell phone off of the nightstand. Once the phone was in her hand she immediately opened up the text message, while thinking the whole time.
I know I ain’t got no business going through his phone. But, it didn’t stop her as she carried on as if she was ignoring herself. The text was from a number that she’d never seen before, but immediately she saw who it was.
Hey Dillon, this is Rihanna. I’d like for us to meet up at the Westin Hotel in Downtown, Atlanta where we’ll be staying. There is a small conference room in the lobby area on the 5th floor. That’s where I’d like for us to sit down and talk at. I’m hoping that 11 o’clock this morning will be a good time. If not, call me and let me know.
“This some bullshit,” Zoe whispered through gritted teeth. Aft
er pacing for the next 20 minutes, she finally got back into bed. She figured that stressing about the situation wasn’t going to make it any better. So, from that time up until 11 o’clock she was just going to prepare herself for anything, because there was no telling what kind of secrets Rihanna had been keeping.
***
Dillon pulled up in a parking space inside the parking garage of the Westin Hotel. He looked over at Zoe and smiled. “You okay?”
Zoe smiled back. “Yeah, I have no choice, but to be. I’m glad you asked me to come.”
“I wouldn’t have it any other way.” He said while grabbing her hand, and then softly kissing on the back of it. “The question is are you okay?”
Dillon shrugged his shoulders. “About as okay as I’ll ever be.” He responded as he took in a deep breath, and then let it out. “I just have this gut feeling that something is up with Delia and this whole paternity thing.”
“Damn babe, you too?” Zoe questioned. “I’m telling you I think that we’re about to get an unexpected bombshell thrown our way.”
“I’m starting to feel the same way, too.” Dillon said as they got out of the car. He hit the locks from the keychain as he glanced down at his Rolex timepiece. It was two minutes until 11 o’clock. “I guess within the next 30 minutes we’ll both know what this complicated thing is.”
“I just hope that it’s nothing that’ll make me wanna run for the hills.” Zoe teased.
“You wouldn’t do that.” Dillon grinned as he grabbed her by the hand.
“Nothing they say will make me walk away.” Zoe leaned in as she softly kissed his lips. “I love you.”
“I love you, too.” Dillon said with a handsome smile spread across his face. Inside he was really happy to get to meet his daughter, but he couldn’t help but wonder what the hell was really going on with Rihanna and the secrets that she’d been holding out on.
***
Dillon and Zoe were sitting in two seats, side by side, pulled up to a table inside the small conference room at the Westin Hotel. Dillon glanced down at his timepiece for the umpteenth time. They’d been patiently sitting there for the past 30 minutes, and yet Rihanna hadn’t showed nor was she answering her phone.
