She stopped and turned. “Oh?”
“I put out an ad for a night-time employee. That way you won’t have to put in the hours you do after your day job. The shop is turning a decent profit now, and I can afford it.”
After thinking a moment, she paced over until she stood right in front of him. She tilted her head up until she could practically feel the warmth of his face against hers. “That was sweet of you.”
“I was thinking that way you could pick up a few of those hobbies you keep talking about. Like gardening. You mentioned that a few weeks back.”
“What a good listener you are.”
“I try.”
She lifted up on her tiptoes and kissed him gently on the lips. “I think you should let me decide how much I want to help.”
“Oh?”
She nodded. “Yeah. You don’t need to hire anyone else. You’re my husband. I want to help you. And I enjoy spending time with you. So you’ll just have to take that ad down.”
He smiled and wrapped an arm around her waist. “You got it.”
The plan was to turn off the lights, but she found herself a little too distracted with another kiss. Closing up will just have to wait a little bit longer.
