“You are here for our pleasure. You don’t get to fucking call the shots, you hear me, slut?” I fuck her with reckless abandon. I leave my mark. Smacking her ass, hard, in the same spot. I want her sore when she sits down. I want her to think of me when I’m not in here.
“What the fuck, man?” I jerk my head to the side, seeing Zach walking in here. “What are you doing?” He seems pissed.
“I’m sure I don’t have to spell this out for you, dude.” I keep fucking her. I don’t care that Zach walked in here.
“I was coming up here to bring her some food.” It’s then that I notice the plate that’s in his hand. So fucking what. Her food can wait. I turn my attention away from him and back to the pussy I’m pounding in to. “You’re going to deny her food? You’re just like Brian.”
“What are you talking about? Just let me fuck her then you can feed her the food if you want and then you can have her for dessert,” I say with an edge to my voice. I watch him walk over to the nightstand and set the plate of food there. I see a couple other cups already setting there.
After setting the food down, he walks over to the bed in front of Devon and gets down on the bed putting his face level with hers. He’s looking at her like … he’s in love with her? What the fuck?
Whatever, it’s not like he can get in the way of Brian’s plan. No one would dare try to stop him. In fact, I would like to see Zach try to stand up to him. That would be pure entertainment right there. I have a huge grin on my face as I continue to fuck Devon. Her pussy feels like a fucking vice around my dick. Her pussy is like nothing else I’ve ever felt.
Zach is murmuring to her, but he’s talking low enough that I can’t make out anything that he says. He’s becoming a risk. Maybe I’ll tip Brian off so he can kill him tonight. Or at least fuck with him before he offs him.
I need to focus on the task at hand. I look down at the red ass my dick has the pleasure of being between. I’m going to miss her ass. And that’s not a good thing. Losing it, I spill my seed inside her. Groaning the whole time. I pull my pants up and fix myself. Not sparing them a glance, I walk out and go back down to the office, where I left my phone.
Picking it up, I dial Brian. He answers on the first ring.
“Speak.” He’s always so serious.
“Zach has become an issue. I think he thinks he is in love with our girl,” I tell him, anxious to hear what his response is going to be.
“Well, that just won’t do will it. I’m on my way back to the house now. I should arrive in about thirty minutes. We’ll deal with it when I get there.” And in true Brian fashion, he hangs up without waiting for a response.
Perfect. I’ll leave the lovebird up there so Brian can see him. I prop my feet up on the desk. I’ll sit here patiently, or maybe not so patiently, waiting for Brian. With a smile.
Chapter 48
Devon
Fucking Zach. He couldn’t just hold it together. I’m surprised Preston just didn’t kill him right then. Christ, he must really think he’s in love with me. The stupid idiot. Men. They’re all the same.
“Baby, I’m sorry. I lost it when I saw his dick in you.” He’s running his hand through my hair. He has me cuddled up to him on the bed. Which I’m sure is not typical behavior for someone like him in this house.
“Zach, what if he would have caught on? What if we can’t get away now?” I ask, trying to sound scared.
“Don’t worry about a thing, baby. I will protect you at all costs. You are mine.” He nuzzles his head into me. “I don’t want to watch anyone else fuck you.”
I could take that as the compliment I’m sure he means that as, but this is all creepy. I can’t take anyone seriously if they think like this. I don’t answer him, though. I’m trying to not shatter the illusion I’m creating.
I’m not sure how long we lay there when I hear footsteps on the steps. Shit. I try to nonchalantly wake Zach before it’s too late. The only time anyone comes upstairs is to come to my room. I can’t fuck up.
I’m slightly panicking when Brian appears in the doorway. If he’s shocked, he doesn’t let it show. An evil grin spreads across his face. Ice spreads throughout my veins.
“Hello, Devon. I hear Zach has gotten a little too involved.” I’m not sure what he wants me to say, so I decided to stay silent unless I’m asked a direct question. Brian walks toward the bed.
“Zach.” I hear a loud thump. Zach got dragged off the bed. I’m just sitting over here trying to keep my reactions neutral, not caring.
“What the fuck?” Zach asks no one in particular in a sleepy voice.
“Hi, Zach.” That voice makes realty snap back to him real fast. He scrambles to his feet, looking between me, Preston, and Brian. Preston has a huge smile on his face. He’s enjoying this.
“Hi, Brian. What can I do for you?” He keeps shuffling back and forth. He’s really not doing a good job at keeping his cool. Instant defeat flows through me. I know how this is going to end. I’m going to die tomorrow unless Enzo can get me out. He’s my last resort. And just like that, that stupid song by Papa Roach is stuck in my head.
“Well, I guess the correct question is what can you do for me?” Hmm … I wonder how he’ll kill him.
“What do you mean, sir?” Oh, look at him submitting like the good little puppet he is.
“It seems that I have been informed of a problem. And when I walk in here, you asleep on the bed cuddled with her only proves what I’ve been told.” When he says the word cuddled it comes out with a sound of disgust. I bristle on the inside. I don’t know if it’s disgust toward cuddling with me, or just cuddling in general.
“I … I … I’m not sure what you’re talking about,” he stutters.
“Oh, Zach. I know you’re not stupid. You couldn’t be to be a detective. You have to have some smarts floating around in that brain of yours.” Brian has his arms behind his back as he starts to stroll around the room, pacing leisurely.
Zach looks like he may be about to piss his pants. I keep moving my eyes back and forth between everyone, wishing I could blend into the background and not be seen. One can only hope.
“So, Zach. Why don’t you tell me what your plan is? You have to have come up with something.” Brian stops in front of Zach, about a foot away from. Meanwhile, Preston is leaning against the wall beside the door, arms crossed across his chest.
“I didn’t have a plan, sir.” Zach not making eye contact is what gives him away.
Brian reaches out fast and grabs Zach by the front of his shirt, yanking him close to his face. “You will tell me what you had planned. Now!”
“I was going to sneak us out of here tomorrow.” Brian drops Zach to his feet and he stumbles trying to get away.
“You see, that’s a problem for me.” Back to the pacing. “I don’t need guys that start to think with their dick. I need guys that can follow an order. Clearly that isn’t you.”
“So, what do we do with him?” Preston asks, coming forward to stand next to Brian.
“We’re going to watch him fuck Devon.” Brian looks back at Zach and says, “Get undressed. Have her get you hard then fuck her. You on top with her feet up on your shoulders.
Zach starts to undress hesitantly, keeping his eyes on Preston and Brian the whole time. I lie back on the bed, getting ready for him. The bed dips on the side when he climbs on. Zach knee walks in between my legs. Glancing down, I see that he’s hard. He lines himself up and pushes in slowly.
“Fuck her. I said to fuck her. You’re not making love to her, Zach,” Brian says with venom dripping from his voice.
At his urging, Zach starts pounding into me. His hands are holding my thighs against his stomach, creating some leverage for himself to fuck me. I’m not sure if I want to participate to make this a little more authentic or not.
Zach is a guy that really doesn’t last super long if he’s fucking like this, so it seems like it’s over before it starts when he starts to moan. When the gunshot
echoes throughout the room, almost deafening me, I’m truly scared shitless.
I notice the splatter of blood and other internal gooey shit all over the front of me. I lose my shit. I start screaming to get it off. Zach is half on me, his head turned toward me and a lifeless look in his eyes.
Holy fucking shit. Brian blew his brains out while he was orgasming. Death by orgasm. What a fucking way to go. But we need to get this shit off of me right now!
**
I’m sitting in the bathtub in the bathroom attached to my room. I feel like I’m always in here. As soon as everything was cleaned up, I came rushing in here to scrub myself clean. Then I decided to sit down in the tub and try to relax. That doesn’t seem to be happening, though.
I have my head back against the hard plastic, my eyes closed, and my knees drawn up to my chest with my arms wrapped around them. My body aches to dance. Since I started at the dance studio when I was little, I’ve never gone this long without dancing.
“Mom! C’mon, we’re going to be late!” I yell at her. She still ignores me. Looks like I’m on my own again. Grabbing my bag, I walk out the front door, slamming it behind me. I walk out of our current shitty housing situation. I don’t care what drugs she on. I’m not missing dance because she sucks in the parental department.
It’s only a thirty-minute walk to the studio, but it’s the middle of winter so I try to run most of the way. But you know how when you run outside when it’s cold your lungs burn really bad? Yeah, I’m not a runner. I’m a dancer. So I do more of a fast-paced speed walk.
When I finally make it to the studio, everyone is already there and warming up. I quickly swap out my tennis shoes for my ballet slippers and then jump in line in the back row. My body is already slightly warmed from my walk here, it doesn’t take long for my muscles to start to stretch and flow with each movement.
The entire class is spent going over routines for our next recital. Every routine has me lost in the music. I can almost forge about my life and the shittiness of it all. After a couple hours of work, Madame dismisses us, but tells me to hang out for a second. She disappears while I say good-bye to everyone else as they pile out the door leading to their rides.
“Devon. Come into my office for a minute.” I hear from behind me. I was sitting on the floor rubbing my sore feet.
“Okay,” I reply, standing up, forgoing putting my shoes on just yet I pad over barefoot.
When I sit down, Madame just stares at me for a few minutes before talking. “I sincerely hope you’re going to go to school somewhere and get a degree in dance. You have too much talent to waste, my dear.”
I would love nothing more than to go to school for dance and somewhere along the way be accepted to a ballet company. My life would be set. But alas, you mostly have to have money to do those things. But I simply reply with, “I would love to.”
“Did your mother bring you tonight?”
“No, ma’am. I walked here.”
“I see. Would you like a ride home?” And have her see where I live? No. Way.
“Thank you, but I’m okay. I don’t live far,” I say with what I hope is a reassuring smile.
“Very well, then. I will see you next week.” With that, I’m dismissed. I grab all of my stuff, shove my feet back in my tennis shoes, and walk out the door. I glance around to see if anyone is hanging out, but I don’t see anything. The only car around is this really nice, shiny black car sitting across the seat. The window is half rolled down, but I can’t make out who the person is sitting in it. Oh well. I start my trek back home and the nice car slowly pulls away.
When I get back to my apartment, I find my mom passed out on the living room couch this time. I leave her be and head back to my room.
I shake myself out of the memory. I can’t help but wonder, knowing what I know now, if that black car was my father watching me.
Chapter 49
Enzo
Unknown: Be at 8975 Holderman Dr, Lewis Center tonight at 6 pm.
That’s the house she’s been at. All this time and she has been thirty minutes away from me. I reply back a simple “okay” and close out of my texts. I go into my contacts and find the captain’s number and hit call.
“Enzo, did they text you?” Straight to the point. Good.
“Yes, they did. Same house Matt told us she’d be at. So at least they aren’t moving her to a different location.”
“Yes, that is good. Is Remy ready? I’m going to come get him here in a couple so you can get yourself prepared. Be ready for any type of situation, okay?”
That’s really not what I want to prepare myself for. I want to prepare to bring her home. I want to prepare her to move her to Alabama. I want to prepare her for living together, but I don’t want to plan for a possible bad outcome.
“Baez?” the captain barks into the phone.
“Yeah, I’ll get my head straight. It’ll be fine. We’ll get her out safe, and you’ll arrest everyone or shoot people. I don’t care about anything but getting her out of there. Remy is ready. I know he has her scent because he’s been carrying her pillow around the house everywhere with him.” At the sound of his name, Remy lifts his head up and glances at me, then drops it back down on the pillow. Sappy ass dog.
“Good, that dog will be a big help tonight. Don’t be afraid to jump into helping us at any point,” he tells me. Probably hoping I’ll help him, instead of fussing with Devon. Once she’s in the paramedics’ hands, I’ll help. I just need to make sure she’s safe.
“I know. I will help. Just let me make sure she’s okay first,” I tell him.
“Alright, Baez. You get your girl to safety then come back and help us.”
“Okay, I’ll see you in a bit when you come get Remy.”
“’Bye, son.” He hangs up after that. He calls almost everyone son at some point. He’s really not that much older than all of us either.
**
Knowing that I can’t go in with a gun, or any weapon, really fucking sucks. I’ve almost sat down five times wanting to clean mine, just to have something to do. I have paced. I have taken a shower. I have taken Remy out back and threw the ball around for him. I have made sure my room is clean.
It’s amazing what you can get done around your house when you’re forced off of work and need something to keep yourself occupied.
I have an hour before I have to head out to be at that house on time. You’d think I could find something to do in that time, but nope. I’m pacing around the living room again. Trying to imagine every possible scenario I could be walking into. Images are running through my mind that I really don’t want to imagine.
Her being dead when I get there is number one. I’m trying to stay positive. But Matt couldn’t tell us anything that Brian really plans to do, which makes this such a tough situation to go into blind. You want to be prepared for anything. But would you ever be prepared to watch the girl you want to marry die? No. Absolutely not. You would have to be a sick son of a bitch to be able to prepare for that.
There are those people out there, though, and it baffles me.
I glance down at my watch. I have officially wasted enough time. I grab my keys and head out to my truck. On the drive over, I have to really keep myself from speeding. Knowing I will be seeing Devon soon makes my heart ache, only because I will have to see what they’ve done to her.
Turning off Route 23 onto Orange Road, I drive about a mile before I have to turn in the subdivision. These places mess with my head. I can’t imagine living where your neighbor’s house looks identical to yours. I drive around, trying not to get lost, and finally find the house after twenty minutes. Looking at the clock on the dash, I have two minutes to spare. Good. I turn the truck off and hop out.
Making my way up the walkway, I don’t even make it to the door when it’s opened. Standing before me is one of the guys that Preston had as his muscle. He’s a giant black man. “Follow me,” he says, stepping back, allowing me to walk in the door before shutting it behin
d me. I take in the house as we walk. I don’t see anyone anywhere, but we seem to be heading to what would be family room. It’s huge. I see people standing everywhere around the outside of the room.
Looking around, I see a metal exam-like table in the middle of the room. But no Devon. The man that we have identified as her father, Brian, comes forward.
“Hello, Detective Baez. I trust that you found the place okay?” He’s awfully pleasant for a man who would kill me without a second guess.
“Uh huh, I got here just fine. Where is Devon?” I ask him. I see the bodyguard come up closer to one side of me and the other walk up to my other side. Well, this isn’t good.
“Jumping straight to business then, huh?” Nodding his head, he turns and looks to Matt. “Evan, will you go retrieve the guest of honor.” Evan, without saying a word, turns on his heels and heads back toward where I came in from.
“So, detective, please have a seat.” I’m knocked on the back of my knees with a metal folding chair. I slowly sit down in it. Trying to keep my cool. I wasn’t told when everyone would be coming in on the raid, so the element of surprise will be on me too.
Matt, holding onto Devon’s arm, comes into my peripheral vision. I turn my head and see that’s she totally naked. My eyes peruse her, checking for any visible injuries. And I only see one. The name “Brian” is carved into her stomach. It looks like it’s starting to heal a little, but the lines are still an angry red color. A red-hot rage consumes me.
She knows I’m in here. I take a small comfort in the fact that I can see her eyes seeking me out. When we make eye contact, I see the absolute relief that fills her. Matt brings her to the center of the room where the table is. He helps her up onto it and she does it all without one word of complaint. She’s playing the docile little slave. I know she isn’t broken.
Once she’s strapped down, she turns her head slightly in my direction just to look at me. I don’t even realize that I’m gripping the sides of the chair until my hands start to hurt. I look toward Brian, since he is the ringleader of this circus, and say, “What now?”
