Guarding Him

“Marry me, Nicolette Francis Barrington-Montgomery.”
She hadn’t opened the box yet; instead, putting it into her lap and using both hands to cup both sides of his face. “I thought you’d never ask.”
The kiss she gave him twisted his heart—gentle and soft and full of love. He never imagined a woman would love him like this. Honestly, never thought he was capable of the depth of love he had for her. They would eventually have a piece of property where she could play loud music and dance naked in the moonlight if she wanted, but for now, they were here and would build their future together.
“I need a firm, yes, woman. This is a lifetime contract I’m talking about. I want it in writing.”
“Yes, bossy man. Yes, yes, yes.”
He opened the box in her lap, and she held out her left hand. The princess cut solitaire was only one karat. Ian would have gotten her something much bigger but knew it wasn’t her style. Just because he wanted to get her the biggest rock on the planet didn’t mean that’s what she wanted. His woman wasn’t that way. She could’ve had everything in the world handed to her from her family, but she’d walked away and made her own life. She protected people for a living, and Ian would protect her from now on.
“I love it, Ian,” Nic said as she looked at the ring on her finger. She kissed him.
Ian chuckled. “I’m marrying my bodyguard. I bet that doesn’t happen very often.”
Nic gave him a suggestive look and ran her finger down his chest. Pausing, she swirled a fingertip around his nipple, watching it pucker. “I promise to protect every inch of this body.”
“God, I hope so. Because I am yours, body and soul.”
“I want that in writing,” she whispered.
About the Author
I have an eclectic personality that translates into both my reading tastes and writing. I am currently writing Romantic Suspense but that doesn’t mean that at any moment it won’t change to Paranormal Romance or something else. I can’t help it, I love just about every genre out there. I’m a wife and mother and live in the hottest part of the Southwest with a Greek Tortoise, two snooty cats, and an Australian Shepard that herds us all.
