Burn: Dragon Shifter Romance Page 60

  “Warm?” I asked

She smiled and shrugged her shoulders. “Yeah, warm. My house is so cold. Everything is stone and antique. Here, everything just feels like a home.”

“You realize you are in an apartment over a biker bar, right?”

“I thought it was a restaurant,” she muttered.

I chuckled. “Mila just calls it that so the local police stay off her back. They don’t like having gangs in the area.”

Her eyes grew wide, “Is it dangerous?”

She took a step closer to me, her fingers trailing across my wrist. I shuddered with desire, I couldn’t believe that she was in my apartment. I knew that I should kick her out, send her away. I couldn’t do it though, I wanted her to be there as much as I hated to admit it to myself. She was my kryptonite in every possible way. Her touch drove me wild. I knew that I was doomed.

I took her chin in my hand and whispered, “Only if you want it to be.”

  Chapter 7

  ~Jennifer~

My heart was racing as I considered his eyes. Everything about him was wrong, from his wild hair to his abrasive attitude, but still I wanted him. He dipped his head down to me, his lips brushing against my cheek. I shuddered as his smell assaulted my nose, it was warm and comforting. A sensation that I had never known before from a man. I was no virgin, but he made me feel like one all over again. I arched my back, standing on the tips of my toes to feel more of his hot flesh against my own.

His lips captured mine, the chills of desire coursing through my body. My core was throbbing with need as his hands searched my body. First they rested on my hips, then they moved higher until his thumbs brushed the bottom of my aching breasts. I drug my nails along his back, pulling his shirt over his head in the process. He did the same for me, pulling my dress over my head and revealing the red, lacy bra underneath.

His finger played against my body, making me shudder once again with need. I kissed his warm neck as he unsnapped my bra and set my ample breasts free. His hands wrapped around them as his head dipped down and captured one of my erect nipples in his mouth. The second his lips touched my body, I felt the fire coursing through my loins, making my body wet and driving me to the brink of insanity. I tangled my fingers through his hair, pushing him down further onto me as he bit at my nipple playfully.

Without warning he slid his hands under my rear and picked me up off the ground. I wrapped my legs around him, trusting him to take me wherever he wanted. My eyes were closed; I didn’t care where he was taking me as long as he didn’t stop touching my body. I felt another door at my back before I fell backwards, caught by a soft bed. He moved away from me, pulling down my leggings as he went. I watched him as he moved, unable to believe everything that was happening was real. He took my thong with him.

His eyes met mine as he started to move back up my body. I watched him as he kissed the inside of my leg, moving slowly to my burning core. When his head disappeared again between my legs and I felt his hot breath on my wet sex, I shuddered with desire. His tongue flicked out, licking my sensitive pearl. I gripped the bedding beneath me, my eyes rolling back in my head as he suckled on my clit. His skilled tongue continued its assault as his fingers found the opening to my core. I shuddered as he slipped one finger into me.

As he worked to bring me closer to the brink, I let the pure pleasure take over my body. Feeling his fingers as they pumped into me and his lips as they kissed my body. I felt the climax coming, the desire starting to boil over. I ran my fingers through his hair, trying to convey my need for him to keep going. He knew what he was doing though, just as I felt like I was going to explode he pulled away from me, driving me into a hot frenzy. I arched my back, begging him for more.

His sly grin caught my eye as he moved further up my body. I wrapped my legs around him, wanting to feel his shaft buried inside of me. I looked down and for the first time saw his massive cock as he freed it from his jeans. For a flicker of a second, fear washed over me. I had never seen a man as large as him! I wasn’t even sure that he would fit inside my petite body. I quivered, a mixture of fear and desire fighting inside of my body.

“Don’t worry,” He whispered to me.

“What are you talking about?” I asked, trying to play it cool. “Why would I be worried?”

He chuckled softly, “I’ll be gentle.”

I smiled and pulled him closer to me, kissing his lips with the same passion that he had taken mine. His tongue dipped inside my mouth, exploring every part of me that he could get his hands on. I reached between us and took hold of his shaft, listening to him moan as I did. I guided it to my slick opening, ready to take all of him inside of me, but he pulled my hand away, pinning me to the bed underneath me. I looked up into his eyes just as the tip of his cock found my entrance. His head moved past my folds, spreading me apart with each inch that he moved inside of my body.

His shaft was huge, he slid inside of me. Every second that passed I felt my body stretching to accommodate his massive girth. I relished the delicious mixture of pain and pleasure as he buried himself inside of me. He gazed into my eyes and with one thrust, plunged deep into my waiting core. I screamed out, his lips found mine and gently kissed me through the shock as his cock slid in and out of my body. I shuddered as sweet pleasure replaced the initial shock of pain.

Michael’s manhood stroked me from the inside, working me up into a frenzy once again. I thought I would explode with euphoria as he thrust into my body. Each stroke bringing with it a new level of pleasure until I couldn’t take anymore. My legs wrapped around his waist as he buried himself inside of me. Just as I felt his seed spilling into my core, the orgasm rocketed through my body, blinding me in the light of passion.

I called out his name as I met him thrust for thrust. The crescendo of joy coursing through my body until I thought that I would be blinded by the light forever. Finally, after what felt like hours of mind-blowing orgasm, I started to come back down to earth. Michael fell onto the bed beside me, struggling to catch his breath as I was. My body ached with need, I wanted even more of him.

  Chapter 8

  ~Michael~

I didn’t want to move; my mind was racing over everything that had just happened. I rolled onto my side, wondering what was going through Jennifer’s mind as she lay in my old, worn, bed next to me. I glanced at her and smiled. She was panting and smiling, her eyes still closed. I cleared my throat and she looked at me. The blush I was growing to love dancing across her cheeks.

“That was unexpected,” I said with a grin.

She cocked her head, “Are you complaining?”

I laughed, “Hell no, I just never in a million years thought that you would be here.”

  “Why not?” She asked.

I shrugged and sat up, “This isn’t really the kind of dive you would be seen at.”

“You know, for someone who claims to be so laid back, you are really judgmental.”

I was shocked, “What are you talking about?”

“You seem to think that I am just some spoiled princess, that I don’t have thoughts or feelings of my own.”

I raised an eyebrow, “Do you?”

She glared at me and sat up, “This was a mistake. Of course, I have my own mind! You really should work on your people skills.”

I knew she was upset, I grabbed ahold of her and pulled her back down onto the bed. She laughed but the pout quickly replaced the smile when she saw that I was winning her back over. I held her down and kissed her neck. She let out a sigh as her fingers trailed up my bare back.

“I’m sorry, I know that you are more than just a spoiled princess.” I muttered into her neck.

She slapped me playfully. “I guess I’ll take what I can get. So, what does this mean?”

I shrugged, “What do you want it to mean?”

“I like you,” she whispered as she gazed into my eyes.

I smiled, “I like you too.”

“I want to see you again; I just don’t k
now if we should tell anyone.”

I flinched, “Sorry. I don’t want to be your dirty little secret.”

I was a decorated marine, the last thing I was going to be was a lap dog for a rich girl. I liked her, more than I was willing to admit, but I wouldn’t give up who I was for that. I wouldn’t be with someone who didn’t want to be with me. Even if it meant standing up against her family to do so. I wouldn’t watch from the sidelines as she wooed her rich suitors and played the diva for her mother. That wasn’t the man I was, that wasn’t the woman that I wanted.

She laughed and slapped my arm again. “You really think that poorly of me?”

“I don’t know what to think,” I mumbled.

“Michael, I don’t want to hide you from my family or anyone else. I just don’t want to drag you into my world unless we are sure, about us.”

I hated to admit it but she was making sense. There was no point in putting my foot in the door without knowing if what we had was real. I was sure that it was but if she needed more time I would be glad to give it to her. I smiled down at her and kissed her cheek lovingly. It was worth the wait if it meant that we could be together. If time was what she needed, I would be the one to give it to her.

“Okay, we can wait.” I muttered.

She laughed and rolled over on top of me, “Don’t sound so sad! I promise that we will tell them as soon as the time is right.”

“What about your boyfriend?” I asked

She glared at me, “Jacob is not my boyfriend and I will tell him tonight that I am spoken for. I am spoken for, right?”

Her question flooded my heart with a mixture of feelings I had never felt before. I nodded my head and kissed her lips once again. I had found more happiness in the hour that we had been together than I had known in most of my life. She was an amazing woman and I was a lucky guy that she wanted me. No longer was she the spoiled brat that I wanted to teach a lesson. She was a wonderful woman, and all mine.

“Hey, aren’t you meeting with my father today?” She asked.

“Shit,” I muttered, jumping up and looking at my phone.

I leapt from the bed and pulled on the same clothing that I had been wearing, looking at her apologetically.

“I’m sorry, Carlos got me this interview and I don’t want to make him look bad.”

She smiled, “Go, I can show myself out. I like it here.”

I looked around and grinned. It wasn’t much but it was everything that I had. I leaned over her naked body and kissed her one last time before jogging out the door. I didn’t stop for Mila’s questioning look; I just ran to my bike. I had never felt so happy in all my years. The joy that she brought to my life just by wanting me was unmatched. As I gunned my bike towards the mansion, I felt the smile on my face as it spread. Things were starting to look up and with Jennifer at my side, the world was a much brighter place.

  Chapter 9

  ~Jennifer~

I peeked around the corner, my heart racing. Michael pulled me back against him one more time, our lips locking together in a heated kiss. I tried to stifle my laughter as his large hands moved up my ribs. He knew that I was ticklish, he did it just to mess with me. It had been four weeks since we had started dating, if you could call it that. I was happier than I ever could have imagined. It was Christmas Eve, tomorrow I would tell my family about us and hope for their blessing.

“What if they don’t give it?” Michael had asked me the night before.

I shrugged, “I don’t care. They could kick me out and it wouldn’t matter.”

He laughed and pulled me into another kiss. The sound of footsteps coming pulled us apart.

“I need to get back to work,” he said.

I nodded my head and looked out into the hallway. The coast was clear. I kissed him one last time before slipping into the main hall and trotting back up to my room. No one had seen us, thank God. As I ducked into my room, I leaned against the door and closed my eyes. I was happier than I could ever remember being in my life. Nothing could change that.

“You know,” came my mother’s cold voice.

My eyes shot open as she continued.

“When you broke things off with Jacob, much to my distress, I thought there might be someone else.”

“I don’t know what you are talking about,” I muttered. “Why are you in my room?”

“This is your father’s house and his room, I don’t need your permission to be anywhere,” she said.

I rolled my eyes, “What do you want?”

  “Who is he?” She asked.

“What are you talking about? Why does there have to be someone else just because Jacob was a bore?”

“Jacob was a McDermont! He was a perfect match for you and you ruined it. So, who is it huh?”

“That is none of your business mother,” I hissed.

“It is my business!” She yelled.

I rolled my eyes, “You don’t know him.”

She rose from my vanity and I saw the paper in her hand for the first time. She handed it to me and stepped aside while I looked at it. I felt the blood draining from my face as I glanced down at the doctor’s information. It couldn’t be, everything that Michael and I had faded from my mind. This was so much larger than just us.

“How did you get this?” I whispered.

“Dr. Jackson has been working for me much longer than he’s been working for you. Do you have anything to say for yourself.” She asked.

I took a deep breath and glared at her, “You had no right to read my medical information.”

“And you had no right to get knocked up by some deadbeat!” She screamed.

I stumbled backwards, shocked by her words. My mother never lost her temper but there she was, screaming for all the world to hear.

“The father is no deadbeat! He is hard working and wonderful and I love him!” I screamed back at her.

She laughed, “Love? You are nothing but a spoiled brat, about to have a baby! If you think you can handle this then go ahead, leave.”

“You would kick me out because of this?”

She laughed, “Of course not, that child is a Fairhaven. You have two choices, you can leave now and I will make sure that your baby’s father never works around here again, I’ll make sure that I bury him.”

  “Why are you doing this?”

“Because you slept with the help, you have disgraced this family and I will not have you make more of a mess of things.”

  “I love him,” I muttered.

“I don’t care. If you really loved him then you would send him away and never see him again. Otherwise, his fate is in your hands.”

I felt the tears prickling my eyes. Just a few minutes ago everything had been so wonderful. My hand moved to cover my stomach. I couldn’t believe that I was going to be a mother. Michael would make such a great father but he would never get the chance if he stuck around here. My mother would make sure that he was fired and probably worse. I knew that she was a woman of her word. The only way to protect Michael, was to send him away.

“I hate you,” I said to her, raising my head. “I hate you for doing this to me. I will send Michael away, but I won’t ever forgive you for this.”

“You think you can make it on your own?” She asked.

I shrugged my shoulders, “I don’t care. You can force me to leave Michael for his own safety, but it will be a cold day in hell before I let you near my child. I won’t let you poison this baby like you’ve poisoned all the lives around you. You are the monster here, not me.”

I saw her face flush, she straightened her pantsuit and strolled past me, “We will see about that.”

She stormed from my room, slamming the door behind her. I felt defeated, like nothing else in the world mattered. I sank to the floor in front of my door and cupped my face in my hands. The world around me seemed to come crashing down as the tears started to fall on my lap. What was I going to do? The only thing I knew for certain was that I needed to end things w
ith Michael. I wouldn’t let his life be ruined just because mine was.

I cared about him too much to ask him to make that kind of a sacrifice. Going up against my mother was a death sentence. She knew how to make people disappear, of that I was certain. I would have to push him away, for his own safety. I just needed time to figure things out without him being put in danger. After that, we could take it from there. I rose from the ground and wiped my eyes. Opening the door, I knew what I had to do.

  Chapter 10

  ~Michael~

I was on cloud nine as I strolled into the kitchen. Carlos rolled his eyes at me. He’d survived the past four weeks of my happiness only because I bought him a good amount of alcohol. He thought that I was making a terrible mistake. I knew that he didn’t understand what we had between us. I loved him like a brother, but he was starting to drive me insane with his constant negative attitude.

“Another day in paradise I take it?” He asked me.

I nodded my head, “You should try being happy for me. You never know, it could all work out for the best.”

“You always were a dreamer,” Carlos said.

  “Thanks man,” I mumbled.

Before we could keep arguing with each other my phone started to vibrate. I was officially off the clock so I pulled it out and looked at the screen.

“Your girlfriend?” Asked Carlos in a snarky tone.

  “Yeah,” I muttered. “Something’s wrong.”

He gave me a strange look, “What do you mean?”

I shook my head. The message was brief; ‘I need to talk, outside.’ I couldn’t imagine what was going on. Everything between us seemed to be going perfectly. I slipped out the back door, ignoring Carlos and his look of ‘I told you so.’ We had our own meeting place, just past the main driveway and into the woods a little way. She was waiting for me when I met her there. I could tell that she had been crying.

I jogged over to her, wrapping my arms around her body. She was tense as she pushed me away. I waited for her to start talking, hoping that it wasn’t as bad as I thought. I couldn’t lose her. She had changed my life in such a short period of time. I didn’t know what I would do if she moved on from me. My life was with her; didn’t she understand that?
