Burn: Dragon Shifter Romance Page 61

“What’s going on?” I finally muttered.

She sniffled and looked away, “We have to end things.”

Even though I knew it was coming, it still hurt. “What? Why? Is this about your family? I don’t care about them; we can make this work.”

Jennifer shook her head, “It’s not about them, it’s about me okay? I just, I don’t want to be with you.”

“What?” I stammered, “I don’t believe you. What has changed since this morning?”

“I just changed my mind. I can do that you know. I just don’t want this anymore. I want a better life than this.”

I felt the heat rising to my cheeks. “So that’s what this is about? Money and power? I thought you were different, but I guess I was wrong.”

I turned away from her and started to storm away. I didn’t want her to see the effect that she had on me. I didn’t want her to know that she could break my heart with just a few words. If she wanted to be alone then so be it. I would find someone else, I could find someone new. The problem was that I didn’t want anyone else. She had stolen my heart, something no one had ever done before.

  “Wait!” She called after me.

I froze but didn’t turn around. “What? Do you want the dagger you just stuck in my back?”

“Please Michael,” She said. I could hear her moving closer. When her hand brushed against my arm, I pulled it away. “It’s not like that, please don’t be mad at me.”

I spun around, “Don’t be mad? How do you expect me to feel? You just broke up with me!”

“I know, it’s not you though.”

“Yeah, well, it’s not you either. So, what’s really going on?” I asked.

She shook her head, “It’s my mother. I’m sorry, she is going to make life hell if we stay together. I don’t want to lose you, but she will hurt you. She knows people.”

The heat rose to my cheeks. I could feel the blood rushing past my ears. Red hot rage washed over my body. I looked down at Jennifer.

“Do you want to be with me?” I asked her in a calm voice.

She nodded her head, “Yes Michael, but it’s not that simple.”

“That’s all I need to know,” I muttered as I turned and stormed away from her.

“Where are you going?” She called after me, trying to keep up with my furious stride. “Michael! What are you going to do?”

“I don’t know, but I do know that I’m not going to hide from your mother any longer.” I barked back at her.

“Michael no! She will have you fired! We will never be able to see each other again!” She called after me.

I wasn’t listening to her; the rage had taken control of my body. I didn’t get angry very often. I knew that I could handle most things with just my good looks and charm, but this wasn’t one of those times. It reminded me of riding with the gang, if one of us fell, we all fought. I wouldn’t let that bitch break up my relationship with Jennifer, not when I wanted to be with her forever.

  Chapter 11

  ~Jennifer~

I chased after him as he stormed through the kitchen. Carlos glanced at both of us but Michael was moving too fast for him to catch up. When we made it to the front room and I saw my mother, I thought I would faint. She was standing there talking to my father, looking regal and innocent. Michael stormed closer to her, just feet away from her before he froze and fear crossed her face.

“What the hell is your game?” He hissed.

My father looked shocked at Michael’s outburst. “What’s going on Michael?”

“Ask your wife. She seems to think I’m not good enough for Jennifer.”

“Jennifer? What are you talking about?”

My father looked past Michael to me. I blushed bright red before stepping to Michael’s side and taking his hand. A faint smile crossed my father’s face.

“I thought you both seemed a little bit happier than normal. Now Michael, what is this all about?”

My mother looked shocked, “Frank! You can’t stand for this!”

“Your wife seems to think that I am not good enough for Jennifer. She thinks that I will just turn tail and run with one little threat.”

“Did you threaten him?” Asked my father, spinning to face my mother.

She rolled her eyes, “Of course not, I just pointed out he would be better off away from us.”

My father took a deep breath and looked at me. “Jennifer, do you want to be with Michael.”

My mind started to race, I couldn’t believe that my father was actually going to give us a chance together. I had always assumed that he would side with my mother, but now everything seemed different. He wasn’t the man that I thought he was, I hadn’t given him the credit he deserved. My mother was glaring at Michael, the shock evident.

“I love him dad,” I whispered.

Michael looked down at me and for a moment, no one else in the world seemed to matter. His eyes met mine, the flame between us growing as strong as ever. I wanted to throw my arms around his shoulders and kiss him but I held back. He squeezed my hand, the smile never leaving his face.

“Love? You don’t know the first thing about love!” Hissed my mother.

“Quiet!” Boomed my father. “What about you Michael, do you feel the same way about my little girl.”

“Without a doubt sir, she is the love of my life.”

My heart started to race, he was still looking at me. I felt the blush rising to my cheeks once again as I leaned against him. I knew that no matter what, we would always have each other. My mother’s threats didn’t matter anymore. They were as cold and empty as she was without my father’s blessing.

“Well then! I don’t see the problem here.” Said my father with a grin. He turned back to my mother.

She glared at him, “Are you kidding me? You are going to let this abomination happen? What about the baby! Our name will be attached to some slum child!”

  “Mother!” I screamed.

Michael and my father both looked at me in shock.

“Are you pregnant?” My father asked.

I looked at Michael and nodded my head, waiting for his reaction. His mouth fell open. I didn’t know what he felt until the smile creased across his face. He lifted me up into his arms and swung me around the room. I couldn’t stop myself from laughing at his antics. All my fears of him not wanting to be a family slipped away. I knew that he was ready for us, I knew that I was ready too.

“I can’t believe this!” My mother muttered.

My father turned to her, “You knew about this? You knew that these two loved each other and were going to start a family of their own and still you tried to cause problems?”

My mother turned bright red, “I don’t know what you expected Frank. How could I support them? Look at him.”

My father glared at her, “Yes Marie. Look at them. Our daughter has found a good man. He is a decorated marine with a heart of gold and a strong work ethic. Tell me, how do you think she can do better than that?”

“Well then, I can see when I’m not wanted!” She huffed before spinning away from us.

I looked at my father, “I’m sorry dad. I didn’t mean to cause more problems.”

He laughed softly, “Problems? All I see is a bitter old woman who doesn’t like anyone.”

He held out his hand to Michael who took it in his firm grasp. “Congratulations son, welcome to the family.”

Michael laughed, “I don’t want any special treatment, knowing I’m going to be a father and I have a good employer is all that I need in the world.”

“In that case, you have a job with me for as long as you want, and a raise.” Said my father. “You kids go and have a good time. Dinner tomorrow?”

I nodded my head, when my father had left I turned back to Michael, taking his hands into mine once again.

“I can’t believe this,” he said, his hand crossing over my stomach. “I’m going to be a father.”

“Are you happy?” I asked him.

/>   He nodded his head, “You have made me the happiest man in the entire world. I love you Jennifer.”

His words vibrated through my body, reminding me of what his soft words did to me. I wrapped my hands around his neck and kissed him tenderly on the lips. Nothing else in the world mattered. We were together and we were going to have a baby. All around us the holiday spirit was alive and in full swing but between us, we were going to have the best Christmas of all, knowing that our love was strong.

I held onto his hand as we walked headed up the steps to my bedroom. I wanted to give him an early gift that I knew he would love. The Christmas tree was lit as the sun dropped in the sky. Snowflakes started to fall as we entered my room and I closed the door behind us. I let my dress drop to the floor, his eyes followed it down.

“Merry Christmas,” I said with a grin.

He licked his lips and closed the distance between us. “This is the best Christmas ever; you are my world.”

Just as his lips brushed against my neck, I said; “I love you too Michael.”

  Chapter 12

  ~Michael~

Her dress fell to the floor; her body was glowing. Immediately I felt my shaft growing hard. I hadn’t noticed it before but her breasts, already so perfect had grown just a little. I went for them, capturing her nipple in my mouth and suckling on her. She ran her fingers through my hair, a satisfied moan escaping her lips. She reached between us and took my rock-hard cock in her hand, squeezing it through my slacks. I pushed myself against her, wanting to enter her hot, wet, body.

Before I could enjoy her fruit, I wanted to taste her again. I lowered myself along her body, taking in every inch of her. I kissed a hot trail down her stomach to her hips. When I bit down she moaned and tossed her head back. I knew how much she liked it when I bit her. The sound of her pleasure drove me wild. My cock was already rock hard, wanting to plunge into her. I kissed her shaven body, just above the sweet spot. It was driving her insane with need. I loved to tease her and watch as she struggled to keep control.

  “Please Michael,” She panted.

“What is it you want?” I asked her playfully.

She took a deep breath, “I want you, all of you. I need to feel you.”

  “As you wish,” I whispered.

I parted her pink lips and licked the swollen flesh hidden beneath. Her body was already wet. My fingers found their mark right away as I slipped inside of her, readying her body for my shaft. I tasted her sweet nectar, it was a flavor I would never grow tired of. As I flicked her pearl with my tongue, I felt her body convulse around me. She wouldn’t take long to orgasm; of that I was sure. I snickered as I pulled her pearl into my mouth, suckling it and flicking it back and forth until her hands flew to the back of my head.

She forced me down further onto her clit, my fingers pumping inside of her without mercy. I felt her core throbbing as she started to come. I didn’t stop, even when she tried to push me away. I wanted to taste her, I wanted to feel her body as it exploded onto my hand. She screamed out my name, her hips shaking and thrusting forward against my skilled assault. When she finally came down from the ride, I couldn’t wait any longer. My body was aching for her.

I rose back up to my knees, sure it was my cock that she wanted, but as she so frequently did, Jennifer surprised me. With a sly grin, she shook her head when I tried to undo my pants. She wasn’t done playing with me yet, I knew it. I took one of her nipples between my fingers, playfully pinching it and loving the sweet little gasps that slipped through her mouth. Her lips were swollen from kissing but still I took them into mine and dove into her mouth. Her tongue explored my own as I fingered her wet, throbbing, clit for another minute until she pulled away from me.

I knew she was ready for me, her sex drive was as potent as mine. She quickly unzipped my pants and they dropped to the floor. As she so often did, she fell to her knees in front of me, taking my balls in her hand and slipping her mouth around my throbbing shaft. I closed my eyes as her slick lips slid over my cock down to the hilt. She pulled back, the saliva and precum dripping from my manhood and down onto her hand as it massaged my balls. I knew that I wouldn’t last long with her looking at me that way.

When I pulled her to her feet, she grinned and crushed her lips against mine in a shattering kiss. I tasted my body on her, salty with desire. Gathering her body into my hands she wrapped her legs around me. As I backed up to the door and pinned her between me and it, she dug into my back with her nails. The painful sensation drove me wild and she knew it. She bit my neck as I thrust my cock into her dripping wet pussy. It didn’t take long before she was screaming out my name.

Even after weeks of being together, she was just as tight as ever. My cock struggled to push all the way inside of her, bottoming out when it hit her womb. I thrust into her repeatedly until I felt her body growing tight around mine. Her legs clenched down on my hips as she breathlessly called out my name. Her sweet nectar spilled out over my cock and onto my balls as she rode the orgasm out. It was too much for me, I exploded inside of her.

I grunted and grabbed ahold of her ample rear as I pumped into her body, my juice filling her to the core. As it did, I felt her ripe body throbbing against my rigid manhood. We rode the pleasure out together, our bodies interlocked just as our lives were locked together. Breathless and covered in sweat, I left my shaft inside of her as I carried her to the bed. I put her down gently, pulling out though I wanted to stay buried inside of her. She was my entire world.

“Jennifer, I love you. Will you marry me?” I asked her.

Her eyes flew open, tears threatening at the edges. She nodded her head and threw her arms around me once again. “Yes Michael!”

I kissed her passionately and thrust back into her, my sex still hot for her waiting body. We would have the rest of our lives for slow and passionate lovemaking. All I wanted in that moment was to feel her body encompassing mine. I knew that we would be together forever and that was the greatest Christmas gift of all.

  THE END

  Going Pro

  Chapter 1

His jacket caught attention for the fame of its label but Kristina noticed him for an entirely different reason. Walking along easily in the depths of the crowd, as much a part of it as a bird within a flock, moving with the faceless others like her all going to their own destinations, she turned her head to watch him stride by.

She did know that brand of clothing, however. She didn’t particularly like the clunky meld of leather and wool, but a jacket like that fetched well over $500, and that was online where everything was cheaper –and people in her line of work stayed offline as much as possible. The diamond stud in his ear served to solidify her interest, but what really sold her on him was the way he attracted young women like a magnet. For good reason, of course. She recognized a star football player when she saw one. Living in Cincinnati would do that to a person even if they had no interest in sports, like her. But he wasn’t just a football player in Cincinnati. No, from the orange stripes on his jacket, he obviously belonged to the Bengals, working the NFL. This meant he would take no notice of her if she happened to join the crowd orbiting him.

My next target, Kristina thought calmly, and began to carefully weave her way towards him through the ebb and flow of the weekend traffic. The streets and sidewalks were badly congested, everyone enjoying the good weather for as long as it would hold, but as far as she was concerned the conditions were perfect for an impulse hit. No doubt such a man was used to being accidentally bumped into, or even groped by the more adventurous of his adoring fans. Even if she slipped up and nudged him a little, he would never even notice.

And she never slipped up. Others like her worked in teams of two or three but she never needed that handicap. Every bit she made from this, she came by through honest skill.

The thought made her laugh a little, turning the sound into a cough under her breath. Her mark disappeared inside a coffee shop. She took up a perch a good hundred feet away from the stor
efront, sitting on the back of a bench and swinging her legs. A man ten years her senior wandered over after only a few minutes of waiting.

“Hey, good-lookin’,” he drawled in a heavy Southern accent.

Kristina turned her head a little to acknowledge him without ever looking away from where her mark would exit the store. “Hi, there,” she said softly, raising the tone of her voice. Face hidden beneath the coils of hair piled up high on top of her head and dangling down, he would never notice she wasn’t exactly looking at him. She was reasonably sure this man wasn’t looking at her face anyway. “Can I help you?”

  “You want a smoke?”

The stranger offered her the pack. Grimacing inwardly, Kristina smiled brightly and accepted. He offered her a flame next, and she cupped her hand around the weak ember to protect it from the wind. Taking a long draught, filling her lungs with smoke, she blew out a smoke ring.

Her admirer laughed huskily, then grunted as ash stung his eyes. In the split second it took for him to blink and start to comment, her hand slid out and into his pocket and away again. His wallet went into her purse, as easily as that.

For the next five minutes, she tolerated him and smoked and laughed at his awful jokes, casting flirtation his way whenever the conversation dulled. As long as she kept him distracted, he would never know she stole from him until long after he was gone. This poor man out looking for a good time wasn’t what she had in mind, but at least if she failed with that football player she still might have a little something to play around with later.

The front door of the coffee shop opened. A flash of orange in the midst of a mob of women caught her attention, and the football player stepped out with a frappé in one hand and an old maid with blue eyeshadow in the other. They were both laughing, and that poor old woman looked on the verge of fainting with sheer joy. Rolling her eyes, Kristina stubbed out her cigarette and bid farewell to her smoking friend.
