I only realize that David is crying when she reaches over me to hand him a tissue, too. “A little girl,” he says softly. “My little girl.”
“Our little girl.” I squeeze his hand again. “She’s already the luckiest girl in the world. Aside from me.”
He laughs a little, wiping at his eyes, and then leans in to give me a quick kiss. The tech beams at us from her seat by the ultrasound machine. “I’ll just step out to print you a few pictures, and then you’re good to go.”
“Good to go,” I say to David as she disappears down the hall. “I like the sound of that.”
“I love the sound of you.”
I grin at him, my happiness bursting at the seams. “I love…”
He leans in, kisses me again. We don’t need any more words after that.
