Degrees Of Distortion (Distortion Series Book 1)

“Help,” Stephanie managed to whisper. Her tongue felt too big in her mouth, and her throat was so dry it made her words feel sharp. “Help.” She tried to shake the bars that would not give under her hold. “Help me!” she shrieked, pulling at the bars.
She had woken up in what she could only describe as hell with darkness lingering in every corner. The promise that she would suffer in the dank, murky place had fear clawing at her. She pulled on the bars until her hands ached and her skin felt raw. There was no escape. She had no idea what was happening or why she was here.
Stephanie jumped back when the door across the room swung open. It was the man she remembered with the suit; his red tie was the only thing that stood out as shadows obscured his face. “You’re awake,” he said in a tone that lifted the hairs off the back of her neck. “I’ve been waiting.”
Stephanie backed away from him until the cold wall pressed against her back. There was no escape.
