CHAPTER 36
My private concerns were, of course, all about Anna. Since returning from Singapore we had stayed at the hotel, but I knew I couldn't stay there for much longer. I might need to return to the UK or, whatever eventually happened with the Virex case, perhaps go somewhere else. If Anna was to be with me, and especially if I decided to return to the UK even for a short time, she'd need a visa and that could take time. But sorting out visas was not the only problem.
I was still struggling to know which direction my life was heading. What I knew was that Anna had, in her quiet way, made me think differently. She also had an uncanny ability to understand my feelings and almost hear my thoughts. Not only that but the pathetic vision of myself as a professional loner I had seen in that flashback a week or so ago had vanished. I took the bull by the horns, so to speak, over breakfast.
"Would you like to live in England?" I said.
Anna's eyes with the long black eyelashes widened and a big smile appeared. "Yes. Yes. Can we come back to visit my mother and my father and my sister when we're married?"
So, another decision had been made for me and my slippery slope had just bottomed out.
