Princess of Darkness

Adelaide nodded and loosened her grip on the girl; Serendipity slipped free as Adelaide looked around at the others. The Princess’ companions were silent, even Daegar did not say a word, and they all exchanged puzzled glances with each other. Not a surprise.
Nicademius, on the other hand, smiled as he understood what was going on. “Six books all around Iradas, yes. We have the first and the second. When you were in Valkenn Castle, did you come across the library and a secret passage within it?” he asked Serendipity.
The young girl thought hard for a moment and then shook her head. “No.” she replied.
It was Nicademius' turn to pore through his own thoughts and he rubbed his chin slowly. “It must still be in the castle then, if Lord Valerius hasn't already found it. Let’s pray to the gods that his father does not find it before him.”
Serendipity shuffled her feet on the ground of the forest, her gaze held low. “So what now?” she asked.
“You'll come to Anderaith with us. I’m so happy to finally be able to meet you, Serendipity. I’ll understand perfectly if you don’t feel the same way but, I hope we can at least start off as friends and learn to trust each other first. Oh, how I wished my brothers and I had known about you sooner.” Adelaide said. It sounded as though she wanted to cry but, she was doing well in keeping any tears at bay. Beckoning to Serendipity to get on her own horse again, Adelaide smiled for the last time and announced,
“It's settled then, we're off to Anderaith as planned. I'm sure Viktor and Saff will be surprised with what we have found. Come along Serendipity. We're taking you home.”
