The slow, resplendent smile that she gifted him with in response officially overtook first place for the most magical thing he’d ever seen on Christmas.
“Then we’ll definitely wait,” she murmured, snuggling up to him.
Feeling her fit herself against him so perfectly, he found himself smiling over the unmistakably perfect scent of whatever she used to make her hair smell so good all the time, now forever mingled in his mind with hot cocoa and M&M and candy corn popcorn balls.
She smelled like Christmas.
It had been over a decade since he’d even wanted to say the rusty, dusty words out loud. And yet, thankfully, he didn’t botch it up. “Merry Christmas, Skylar.”
A faint gasp came first.
Then a token Skylar moment of thoughtful—and happily stunned—silence.
And finally a soft, very emotional, “Merry Christmas, Drew.”

Author Note: Hi guys, note that in addition to my ongoing treatments for my congenital brain condition, I’ll be undergoing new aggressive procedures in the coming year for multiple failing organs (which, as most of you remember, I was taking medication for that ended up being recalled by the FDA in 2016 for respiratory, cardiac, and psychological complications). All publishing will be put on hold, as will my Hawai’i author conference. I won’t be able to be online so both my email and social media will be on auto-reply until I’m well enough to return to work. Thank you for all your continued prayers and well-wishes, and for continuing to read and review my books! As I always say, I have the BEST fans an author could ever ask for.
***Spring 2019 Medical Prognosis Update***
Hi guys. It’s been a little over 3 years now since I started my medical leave and while my failing organs are now thankfully stable but under close watch, I’ve also had some new developments and setbacks. But my medical team is absolutely fantastic and with the latest bout of new procedures, medications, treatments, and surgeries over the past year or so, I’m very hopeful about returning to publishing at least part time this summer (2019). While I don’t have the official word yet because I did start having heart complications along and new scary auto-immune symptoms, I’m keeping my fingers crossed. #IBelieve As soon as we know for sure, I’ll be sure to have my hubby post an update on my website and facebook fan group (www.facebook.com/groups/CampVioletDuke).
In the meantime, please do check out my other books! My characters crossover in almost all my series (all but my Montlake and Grand Central series). Skylar is from the Can’t Resist series and Drew is from the Cactus Creek series. So definitely check those series out so you can be fully ready for the end of this duet as ALL the characters from both series will be coming out of the woodworks for this adorable couple’s HEA.
