Maddie left and was back shortly after with a small suitcase loaded and ready in her hands.
She had left a note on the dining table, addressed to Bram and Doreen, begging them not be terrified by her absence and that it was because she had decided to take a vacation. She explained she didn’t know the exact date of her return but that she definitely would return. She warned them that it was not necessary to call the police or give any report of loss about her... that she had not been kidnapped and she undertook this trip entirely on her own desire.
“Are you ready to go?” Prudence asked.
“In a manner of speaking,” said Maddie.
She looked very frightened at the sight of the appearing cloak, uncertain about what that thing could do. Anyway, she stepped forward and stood close enough to be covered by it.
“Now close your eyes and stay really quiet,” Prudence warned. Maddie did as she was told, as well as Dedric. But Prudence didn’t close her eyes. It took a moment or two for her. She stood there lost for words and sighed deeply. She was sure it wouldn’t be long until the Company would meet again.
