Five minutes later, Liar’s Edge took the stage and rocked the place out with Shattered Crowns, because it was who we were, and it was what we did. And even if we didn’t win the Grammy, it wouldn’t matter, because we’d never stop fighting to get to the top. We’d made it farther than most bands ever got, and even though we felt invincible, none of us would ever forget what it took to get to that stage and how hard we’d worked to have the privilege of performing for a national audience and what it meant to actually be nominated for a fucking Grammy!
As I strummed the last chord on my guitar and sung the last note, I knew I never wanted to do anything else. I was born to be on stage, performing, signing the songs that I’d written. And even though I’d told the guys that we’d gotten to where we wanted to be, I knew that wasn’t the truth. This was only the beginning. And Derrick was right. It was on. It was so on.
