What happens if I do and then he breaks me like Danny did? What if I fall for him and then lose him? I couldn’t handle that happening to me twice. I simply won’t survive it.
I nuzzle into him as I’m cuddled into his side with my legs tangled with his. He gently kisses my head as we unwind from the amazing sex we just shared. Midas jumps up on the bed and lays down on the end, and in some weird way it feels like we are a small family - me, Hudson, and the dog. It’s like we’re meant to be together, and I thought that would terrify me, but all it does is fill me with happiness I never thought possible for me again. He holds me close to him as we lay on the bed in silence. I have my eyes closed just living in the moment and feeling all the emotions Hudson brings out in me. He kisses my head again and then I hear him inhale through his nose.
“You smell good,” he says out of nowhere.
I chuckle. “What do I smell like?”
“Violet and sex – two of my favourite things.”
I look up at him and smile. “I’m one of your favourite things?”
“You sure are. You may even be my absolute all-time favourite thing,” he says melting another piece of my heart.
“You’re so sweet when you want to be, you know that?”
He chuckles and tucks a strand of hair behind my ear. “Only for you. Don’t tell anyone though, I have to keep up a tough exterior you know, being a biker and all that.”
I roll my eyes and cuddle back into him. “Well, don’t tell anyone but you just might be my new favourite thing too.”
“Vee.”
“Yeah?”
“You’re the most beautiful, sexy, amazing woman I’ve ever met. You seem to have some sort of spell over me. I think you might be a witch or at least into the dark arts or something right?” he jokes.
“That sentence started off really well. What happened to the end of it?”
“Guess your powers are fading.”
I chuckle and lean in close to his lips. “Then I better put the spell back on you,” I say and kiss him softly. I can feel him smiling against my lips as his hand comes up and pulls my head closer to him. My mouth opens and his tongue finds mine and we make out until we are both exhausted and we fall asleep in each other’s arms, with Midas on the end of the bed snoring softly.
I wake up to Hudson playing with my hair gently. I smile as his touch soothes me, even though I don’t feel anything other than calmness right now, his touch sets me at ease even more if that’s actually possible. I tilt my head up to look at him and smile as he looks down at me with his beautiful eyes.
“Morning firecracker,” he says and then leans in kissing my nose.
“Morning, how’d you sleep?”
He smiles and kisses my nose again. I love it when he does that.
“Great. I’ve never slept better than when I have you in my arms.”
I smile and lean up and kiss his lips softly. “Thank you for last night, it was the perfect way to end my day.”
“You’re welcome, but really I should be thanking you. That was seriously the most mind blowing sex I’ve ever had, and waking up next to you, well I couldn’t be any more satisfied even if I tried.”
I love that I have an effect on him too because he definitely affects me.
“What have you done with that smart arse mouth of yours? You seem to have been replaced by this sweet, romantic and kind man,” I joke.
He raises an eyebrow and smirks. “You don’t like this sweet, romantic and kind man before you?”
I giggle. “I like him very much.”
He smiles and leans down kissing me strongly. Our tongues entwine and our naked bodies connect as he pulls me on top of him. His hands run up my back as I kiss him sensually. I could definitely get used to waking up this way every day, just like I have been for the past six weeks.
I feel the bed dipping beside us and I pull back from Hudson to see Midas staring at us with that big old goofy grin on his face.
“Morning boy,” Hudson says as I lean out and pat his head while he lays down next to us. He takes up so much room, so much so that Hudson and I are right on the edge of the bed and he is in the middle looking at us. I giggle slightly as he leans in and licks right up the side of Hudson’s face.
“Hey. No licking remember, Midas? It’s a rule that you forget far too often boy,” Hudson says wiping his face.
I smirk at him and lean down and lick up the other side of his face.
“Did you seriously lick me like a dog?” he says looking at me with his eyebrows creased together. I smirk and nod. “Oh right, well if we’re going to act like dogs then I guess I’d better join in,” he says and his hands come up and grab either side of my face as he pulls me down and licks right up the side of my face. I laugh as does he and I shake my head at him.
“You’re an idiot,” I say as I lean in and kiss him.
“You love my tongue,” he murmurs against my lips and then kisses me strongly.
Midas barks breaking us apart and Hudson huffs.
“Okay, fine, I’ll let you outside. Just have to get this woman off me first.”
I smile and move off him and out of the bed. Midas jumps up and starts to run around in circles. I laugh at him as Hudson gets out of the bed. We’re both naked and I can’t help but look at his body as he stands up in front of me.
“God, you’re seriously sex on a stick,” I mumble under my breath.
“You know you said that out loud, right?” he asks as he takes my hand and we start walking.
“Yep, but it’s true. You really are very attractive.”
We walk toward the back door and Hudson chuckles. “You’re not so bad yourself, you know that? Seems to me you only want me for my body though,” he says slapping me on the arse as he opens the back door for Midas to go outside.
“Yeah, you’re right. Your body is the only good thing you have going for you,” I joke and he pouts and creases his eyebrows together mockingly.
“Be careful, Miss Dyson. I’m pretty sure I would win the withholding sex competition,” he states and I open my eyes wide.
“Oh, hell no, you can’t do that to me. We’re so good at it. Plus, I know for a fact you wouldn’t last a day,” I tease.
He chuckles. “I bet I could. Right, no sex for you tonight then,” he says and my mouth opens wide in shock.
“No way, you won’t last,” I say knowing that it is more likely to be me who won’t last without touching him.
“Nope, twenty-four hours without having sex. We can cuddle and talk and get to know each other better,” he says and I nod, that doesn’t sound like a bad alternative.
“Okay, you’re on. First one to cave has to buy the other dinner,” I say and his eyes widen.
“Like a date?” he says and I immediately tense up, like maybe I have overstepped the boundaries. I bite my bottom lip not knowing what to say. “I think that’s a great idea. I’d love to take you on a date. In fact, I have today off work, so why don’t you throw a sickie and I’ll take you out on our first official date? Lunch on me, how’s that sound?”
“Really? You want to take me out?” I ask and he wraps his arms around me and pulls me to him.
“Violet Dyson, will you go on a lunch date with me?”
“Of course, Hudson Stone, I’d love to go on a date with you.”
“Okay great! First things first - shower?”
I nod and he walks us back into the bedroom and I make a quick call to Angel telling her I won’t be in today. I walk into the en-suite and we have a shower together and he can’t keep his hands off me. He holds me close to him the entire time and we make out under the water.
We eventually get out and I forgot that I left my overnight bag in the car when I got here, so Hudson puts on some shorts and heads out to my car to gather up my stuff. He’s such a gentleman. I stay in the en-suite and try to tame my bed hair with his brush. He walks back in and places the bag on the bed.
“Okay baby it’s in here,” he calls out.
I smile and walk back into the bedroom and take out my toiletries bag and pull out my toothbrush.
“Hey, if you want you can leave that here? If you don’t want to that’s fine, just giving you the option. You can also bring some clothes and things over if you want too, I have plenty of room in my robe for a few of your things, just to make it easier when you stay over, but only if you want to – no pressure,” he says, looking at me and watching me intently.
I bite my bottom lip. He’s not asking me to move in, just to bring some stuff here for convenience. I guess that wouldn’t hurt, it is annoying having to travel home all the time just to get clothing.
I nod my head. “Okay, that sounds good, thanks. On the topic of me staying over, is there a limit to how many nights a week you want me here, and to be honest I’ve been here a lot lately and I’m sure you want some time to yourself, so just let me know when you want me to—”
“Vee, I’d have you here every day. I want that, but I know you’re still guarded and finding your way. I’m happy to have you here permanently, but it’s up to you. If you still want some days on your own, I get that. Now that I have you in my life I don’t see any reason to not spend as much time with you as possible.”
I open my eyes wide.
Did he say permanently?
“Are you asking me to move in with you?” I ask, sounding a little blunter than I was aiming for.
He purses his lips and pulls me close to him. I look up into his eyes and his gaze soothes my nerves. “Um, no… well, yes, but no. I can see you’re not ready for that. So how about you just spend as much time here or we can go to your house? I’d love to see it - so whatever suits you. I’m playing by your rules, Vee. I just want to make you happy, okay? So don’t freak out ‘cause I can see in your eyes that I’ve spooked you, but how about I change what I said to something more along the lines of, I want to be with and spend as much time with you as possible. So whatever you’re willing to give me, I will be happy with, is that okay?”
My heart is racing. I’ve only known him for a short while and even though he took back what he said, he still said it. I’ve worked on my Danny issues but moving in with someone is just a huge step, and I don’t know that I’m willing to take that step just yet. I like Hudson, I really do, but I can’t move in with him. I can spend all my time here seeing as my home feels strange to me now, but moving all my stuff in and selling my home, my reminder of my boys is just something I’m not willing to do. Maybe in the future, like way in the future, but not right now. And anyway shouldn’t we be in love to commit to each other in such a big way?
“Okay, but I’d rather stay here than us go to my place. Yours is so much nicer and I feel at home here, plus I kinda love Midas so I wanna see him as much as possible, but I’m not moving in. I’ll probably be here all the time, but I can’t make that kind of decision yet. I hope you understand?”
“That’s fine by me. You know I love having you here, so you’re welcome anytime. Can I give you something though without it being scary?” he asks and I bite my bottom lip wondering what the hell he’s on about.
“Depends?”
He smiles and lets go of me walking over to his chest of drawers and opens the top drawer moving what’s inside and pulling out a key ring at the bottom of the draw. I look at it and dangling from the key ring is a single key. I look up at him and smile.
“I know it hasn’t been long, but the connection I feel with you makes me trust you implicitly. I know I shouldn’t. I know I’m probably coming across as a bit needy, but I want you to have this,” he says walking over to me and handing me the key. “It’s a key to the house. I want you to feel like you can come here whenever you want. This place is brighter with you here, and I want that to be as often as possible,” he says pulling me to him and dangling the key in front of me. I smile at him and put my hand out. He drops the key into my open palm and I close it around the key.
“Okay, thank you,” I say and he smiles and leans in kissing me strongly.
“Now, Miss Dyson, get dressed ‘cause I’m taking you out for lunch,” he exclaims and I giggle and get dressed after attaching the key to my keyring.
We get on Hudson’s bike and head down to a local café. I love the feeling of being on the back of his bike, I feel free and of course, it always makes me feel close to him because of the way I have to hold him tightly, and being close to Hudson makes me feel good. I’m starting to feel more and more like Violet and less and less like the woman I am when I’m at Cupiditas. I’m just so glad Star and Papi are back at work. The finances took a small downturn while they were away, but now they’re both back business is returning to normal. Every day I come close to telling Hudson what I do, but every time I start to say something I change the subject. I think the longer I wait, the harder it will be, but I can’t bring myself to tell him. I’m so scared if I do that he will leave me. Not that we’ve made anything official, but I guess giving me a key is like making it official. Man I’m confused. I wish I knew what we are to each other, but at the same time if I commit to him fully I know he’ll want to know what I do and I honestly can’t tell him yet. Even though I’m dying to know if what he does is MC gang related. He always goes to work wearing his jeans and leather jacket and he gets phone calls which he leaves the room to take. I know I have secrets but he definitely does too, and I so desperately want to know what they are, but I’m not willing to tell mine so I will have to wait to find out what his are.
Hudson paid for lunch and was such a gentleman pulling out my chair and doting on me hand and foot. He really is a complete sweetheart. We head back to his place and head inside. He makes us coffee and we sit in the lounge room cuddled into each other. I notice him looking over at Rock the googly-eyed goldfish and he starts to chuckle to himself.
“What are you laughing at mister?” I say looking up at him.
He smirks and then stands up putting his hand out for me to take.
“C’mon lets go for a walk.”
“A walk?” I ask a little confused.
“Yeah, c’mon lets go. I have an idea,” he says pulling me with him and dragging me toward the door.
I giggle at his playfulness and walk with him out the door. “We’re not taking Midas?”
He shakes his head. “Nope.”
“Nope, that’s all I get?” I giggle.
“Yup,” he says making me laugh out loud.
“Where are we going?”
“It’s a surprise.”
He takes my hand and walks down the street with me. We walk for a block or two when we come across set of shops. I look at him and he raises his eyebrows at me.
“Are we buying groceries or something?”
“Or something,” he says leading me into the shops.
I huff, wondering where the hell he’s taking me when he stops outside of the Pet Shop. I look at him and furrow my eyebrows together in confusion.
“A pet shop?” I ask and he smiles opening the door for me and leading me in.
“Okay Hudson, you can start talking to me now? What are we doing here?”
“Okay, well, I think that Rock feels lonely on his own so I want to get him a little girlfriend goldfish, you know to keep him company.”
“You’re such a softy with your animals. And you want me to help pick out your new pet goldfish?”
“Yeah, I want this one to be our pet, yours and mine,” he says melting my heart a little further. If he keeps melting pieces of my frozen heart, in no time he will take me over completely.
“You’re just full of romance today aren’t you?” I ask and he takes my hand and kisses the back of it gently.
“Only for you, baby.”
“Okay, let’s buy us a fish.”
We look in the tanks and they all look the same to me. I’ve never had to pick a fish before so I have no idea what to look for.
“How do we know which one we want? They all look the same?”
“Okay, how about one
of these?”
I look into the tank and these fish are far more interesting than the last ones. They have the googly eyes like Rock, and there’s one which is black with an orange spot on its side. It’s so cute and I smile widely.
“Have you found her? Rock’s girlfriend?”
“Yep, that one,” I say and point to her, well I have no idea if it is actually a girl or not, but for the sake of the conversation I will say it is.
“Yeah, she’s pretty. I thought you might pick her. Okay, let’s go buy her then,” he says pulling me to his side and kissing my head. I feel excited. I am actually buying a pet with my… boyfriend? I don’t know what we are, but I sure do love this feeling. I thought any kind of commitment would scare me, but in less than twenty-four hours we’ve been on an official date, he’s given me a house key and we’re buying a pet together, that in my eyes is definitely some sort of commitment. I don’t want to have ‘the talk’ just yet, but I’m sure that it is on its way.
Hudson buys the fish and we walk back home with her in a little plastic bag tied at the top with a rubber band. I have a spring in my step and I’m excited to see how our new friend and Rock will get along. She is a bit smaller than him so hopefully he doesn’t eat her. I’ve heard fish can do that.
We get home and put the bag in the tank letting the water adjust to the same temperature and then half an hour later we set her free into the water with Rock. I smile brightly when I see them swimming together and they look like such a cute couple.
“I can’t believe we have a pet fish together. What are we going to name her?” I ask and he smiles at me pulling me to him.
“I was thinking, what about Spider?” he asks and I crinkle my face up at him and chuckle.
“Spider? Really? That’s not a great name for a lady?”
