The Soldier's Lady

“What’s that? The governor’s son can’t have just any wedding. He has lots of important friends and I will not have you embarrassing me with your plebian ideas.” The snake had come out to play at that point it seemed.
“You need to hire a planner of course, did you set a date as yet?” She’d gone on and on and it had taken all my control not to jump in, but to wait and see what if anything Melissa was going to do. We’d talked it out before we came here today. My job was to get Lisa alone somehow and feel her out. I was a bit worried about leaving my girl alone with this dragon, but she assured me that she was okay, that she could handle it.
“Why don’t I leave you ladies to discuss this wedding business? Lisa what say you and I go take a look around the grounds?” I didn’t give anyone a chance to answer one way or the other. As soon as we were alone I’d got to the point. “Lisa I’m going to ask you a question and I want you to be honest with me. This is a little hasty because we just met but I don’t believe in beating around the bush. Your sister and I would like to know if you’d like to come and stay with us.”
“Caleb I don’t think I understand. Why would you want me to come live with you? You’re now getting married aren’t you going to need your privacy?”
That answer and the look in her eyes were more than enough but I needed her to say it. She didn’t laugh off the suggestion or make any excuses about being fine where she was right now. Her only concern was encroaching on our space.
“Don’t worry about that just say the word and we’ll handle the rest. Your sister says you’re interested in design that you were actually accepted to a leading institute for art and design but your mom wouldn’t let you go. If this is true I’ll see to it that you get to go but I need you to tell me what you want.”
“Mom won’t like it.” She started ringing her hands in that way I’d seen Melissa do so often. There was hope in her eyes and so much more. It was almost hard to watch. I would leave it up to Melissa to have a private talk with her later and get to the bottom of everything but right now my only concern was getting her out of the house.
“Do you want to go to school Lisa or do you want to stay here?”
“If it’s possible I’d really like to go but mom will never allow it.”
“Are you willing to leave here today and come with us?” I held up my hand to stop her when she started to mention her mom again.
“You’re almost twenty one Lisa more than old enough to make this decision on your own. Now I won’t lie to you. Your sister and I saw something the night of the party that neither of us liked.” Her face reddened and she hung her head in shame.
“The embarrassment is not yours Lisa, you have nothing to feel ashamed about. I don’t know all that has gone on in your life but I want you to know that if you leave here today with your sister and I, we will do everything we can to see that you get a chance at the life you want. Not what anyone else wants; do you understand?” She nodded her head and squared her shoulders.
I’d gotten what I needed to make my move and my woman had been alone with that dragon for way too long. So it was time to head back. “No matter what happens just stick to your plans. When we get back inside I want you to excuse yourself and go pack whatever you want to take with you.” She looked scared and hopeful at once and I wondered how one woman could’ve done this to her own flesh.
Back in the house Melissa was going to war. I held my hand up to keep Lisa quiet at the door. “You’re despicable. I’ve taken your shit my whole life but no more. Caleb and I will do things our way and you have nothing to say about it.”
“How dare you speak to me like that? I am your mother, I’ve done everything for you and this is the thanks I get?”
“What have you done for me other than ridicule and put me down my whole life because I wasn’t thin? You made me hate myself all through my teen years until now. You’re a poisonous human being and I hate the fact that I left my sister here with you. Had I known what you really are I would never have left her.”
I saw Lisa tear up and told her to go around to the front door and enter the house that way so she could get started packing. The way my girl was going I didn’t think we’d have much longer before we were asked to leave.
“I would thank you to keep a civil tongue in your head when talking to me. Don’t think because you’ve somehow fooled Caleb into marrying you that you can get away with speaking to me like this. I don’t know what it is that he sees in you but I don’t give this marriage of yours too long. Then what are you going to do? You’ll come running back to me.”
“I haven’t run to you for anything since I was three years old. You ran dad off because he loved me I know that now. I had a long talk with him, in fact he’s coming out to see us in a few weeks and he’ll be here for the wedding.”
I’d encouraged her to reach out to her dad after she’d told me the story of him being gone one day with no explanation when she was maybe six or seven years old. Before that day he’d been kind to her. He used to sneak her candy when her mom would refuse her any kind of snack.
When I heard the story of her starving the young child even at such a tender age I wanted to go strangle her then and there. I’d let Roland know what I thought of his leaving his children in such a situation but he said she’d threatened to make his life a living hell if he tried to take her kids. Apparently he’d been having an affair with his secretary and if word got out he would’ve lost face in the business world whatever the fuck that means. He claimed he supported them and was still paying for the house she still lived in.
Back in the room where I was still hidden out of sight Melissa finished my job. I’d thought I was going to have to be the one to put her mother in her place but she seemed to have it under control. “You did everything you could to tear me down all my life mom and I don’t know why. But now I have someone who loves me and who’s shown me the truth about myself. You tried to destroy me but you failed.” She saw me standing in the doorway then, and I gave her a nod to let her know that Lisa was ours.
“I saw the way you treated my baby sister at the governor’s mansion and I was embarrassed for you. You are no more of a mother to her than you were to me. That’s why Caleb and I are taking her out of here today.”
“You’re not taking my daughter anywhere.”
“Watch me.”
That was the last time we saw her. She’d made all kinds of threats but I reminded her that Lisa was old enough to leave it she so chose and that had been the end of that. She’d been invited to the wedding because when it’s all said and done my girl has a soft heart. She didn’t show up though which was no loss as far as I’m concerned and Melissa didn’t take it too hard. I know that no one can take the place of a mother but she didn’t deserve that distinction. So I shared mine with my new wife and she was only too happy for the job. Now she had more than Jen and I to tell her how special she is.
Our daughter was born three months after the wedding. Lisa had gone off to California to study and was doing well now that she was out from under her mother and the two sisters were back to the closeness they’d shared as kids. I never asked my wife what had transpired in the talk she’d had with her sister but when she’d come to bed that night she’d cried her heart out and I’d made a silent vow that it would be the last time anyone made her cry.
Now as I stood over her I placed my hands on the mountain of her stomach where my seed slept. “How’re you feeling baby?”
“He or she has been kicking me for the past hour, I don’t think we’re going to make it to the due date.” I knelt at her feet and kissed her tummy. She was glowing as usual and all I wanted was to pick her up and take her to bed. That will have to wait for later, right now my daughter is pulling on my pants leg with her arms out for daddy to pick her up. My girls keep me busy in the evenings and I wouldn’t have it any other way. At least Junior had just gone down for his nap so there should be peace and quiet for the next hour or so. I helped her up from the chair
before picking up Casey and heading back downstairs.
We ate dinner together as a family while the three of them told me what my son had been up to that day. The boy was his father’s son, always getting into shit and keeping everyone on their toes. When the new baby gets here I’m going to hire someone to help out no matter what Melissa says. Lisa is home on vacation but when she goes back to school I think it will be too much for Melissa to handle. Three babies under the age of three would be a challenge for anyone.
That night when the house was quiet I buried my cock inside her as she laid on her side with her leg thrown over mine. My hand rested on her tummy where I could feel the baby kick as I stroked into her nice and easy. Our bodies were covered in sweat as I gritted my teeth against the need to go deeper and harder. “I’m not hurting you am I baby?” Her hand covered mine as she shook her head no and pushed back against me trying to get me to go deeper. “No baby, I won’t fuck you any deeper. The last time it brought on your labor and scared the shit outta me.”
“That’s a good thing captain, I think the baby wants out, he’s ready to meet his dad.” She would say anything to get what she wants, which she usually did. But not when it came to her safety. I bit her neck in my favorite spot as I fed her a little more of my cock but that was all she was getting.
“Behave Melissa, I’m already at your cervix greedy.” She turned her head for my mouth and I kissed her until I felt her body shake with her release. When she was satisfied and her body calmed I caressed her milk filled tit and emptied my seed inside her. “I love you Melissa McNamara.” Pulling out I turned her in my arms so I could hold her as close as her pregnant belly would let me.
She drifted off, as I stayed awake listening to the quiet and knowing that everything was good in my world.
