Jessica reached up and placed her palm on his cheek. “I love you, Riley Matthews.”

Riley kissed her palm as he placed the head of his cock at her opening. He leaned down and kissed her as he entered her a fraction at a time, giving her time to adjust to his size. She thought his fingers were thick, but they were nothing compared to the size of the man’s penis. Jessica felt stretched almost to the point of discomfort.

“I love you, too, Jessica Garrison,” he whispered in her ear. “I’m sorry.”

She had a moment of confusion wondering why he was apologizing before she felt a pop and the pain that tore through her pussy as Riley surged inside her. She gasped and clawed at his back, desperately trying to move away from him, but he held her still against him. Once she was able to breathe again, Jessica was aware of Riley chanting “I’m sorry” over and over again in her ear.

He held her for what felt like hours, but what she suspected was only a few minutes until the pain slowly faded away and she was able to relax. She winced when she pulled her stiff fingers from Riley’s back, sure she had drawn blood. Jessica shifted her hips and when she didn’t feel pain, just a sense of fullness again, she patted Riley on the back.

  “I’m okay now.”

“Are you sure?” he asked, peering down at her. “It just about killed me to hurt you like that. I can’t do it again.”

“Yes, Riley, I’m sure.” She looked him directly in the eyes willing him to see the truth. “You won’t hurt me. I promise.”

Evidently, that was all the permission he needed because he pulled out and Jessica immediately felt the loss. When he slowly slid back in, she felt him shudder against her. She knew exactly how he felt because nerve endings she never even knew she had suddenly came to life inside her pussy. As they continued to stare into each other’s eyes, Riley pulled out and slightly rotated his hips and he entered her again. The move caused him to brush up against her clit, and Jessica threw her head back, no longer able to make eye contact. The sensations surging through her were indescribable. With just a few flexes of his hips, Riley had her on the verge of coming again.

  “Look at me, Jessica.”

She did, gasping as he pumped his hips harder and began to move faster. The more she looked into his eyes, the more it seemed they shared their pleasure. It was if she could feel what he was feeling since everything was written right on his face.

“I’m close, babe.” He sucked in a breath and gritted his teeth. “Come with me.”

That wasn’t going to be hard to do. Especially when he reached down and ground the palm of his hand against her clit. He had to lean back to make room for his hand, causing his cock to angle up slightly. The new position along with him rubbing her clit had her screaming in no time as she came. The heat in her pussy and groan from Riley told her he came as well as he stiffened above her.

Jessica welcomed his kiss and wrapped her arms around his neck when he leaned down. He placed small pecks along her jaw and down her neck as their breathing slowly returned to normal. She felt Riley’s cock soften and slip out of her and groaned at the loss. She wanted him back inside her. If it were possible, she would stay like that forever.

As she contemplated how soon she could get Riley back inside her, he stood and headed toward the bathroom. Jessica heard the water turn on and assumed he was cleaning himself up. She knew she should do the same, but she didn’t have the strength to move. Her body felt like it was made of jelly. When she heard the water turn off, she looked over just in time to see Riley strut out of the bathroom shamelessly naked. She trailed her eyes, starting at his feet and all the way up until she got to his face. She felt herself blush when he winked at her. She was amazed that they had just had absolutely awesome sex, and she could still blush when she was caught staring. It was really sad.

Jessica wasn’t aware Riley had brought a wet rag until he started cleaning her up. He wiped her thighs and gently cleaned her cunt. She could tell he was trying to be careful in case she was sore, but the rough texture of the towel against her sensitive clit was turning her on more than anything. You just had sex once and you’ve become such a slut. Once he was done, Riley tossed the rag with proof of her innocence toward the bathroom then turned Jessica on her side and curled up behind her.

“Are you okay?” he whispered in her ear.

“I’ve never been better.” Jessica turned over so she could see him. “Thank you, Riley, for making my first time so special. Even without the trip and all the fancy stuff, it was still special. It was just me and you, and that’s all I needed.”

“I’m sorry I hurt you. That was the one and only time. I promise I will never hurt you again.”

Aww, could he be any sweeter? “It had to happen and you more than made up for it.” She giggled, wiggling her eyebrows. The move did exactly what she wanted, taking the seriousness from his face. He carried enough unnecessary guilt on his shoulders already. She didn’t want to add to it.

“Go to sleep, little rabbit.” Riley laughed and kissed her as he said it.

“I love you, Riley,” she said on a yawn. Jessica snuggled into his chest and closed her eyes. The last thing she heard before she drifted off to sleep was Riley whispering he loved her back.

  Chapter 7

Jessica felt like she was floating as she finally got around to putting fresh sheets on the bed. Now I finally understand what being on cloud nine means. She giggled. She was one big walking cliché from checking herself in the mirror the morning after her first time to see if she looked any different to scribbling Mrs. Jessica Matthews in her journal over a hundred times. The only difference she could see on the outside was the goofy grin she couldn’t keep off her face. On the inside though, she felt like her body had been wired to an electrical outlet. If Riley even looked in her direction, it felt like her body became electrically charged preparing for action.

She and Riley had stayed in bed all weekend. Not only had they made love most of that time, but they also talked. That was done usually when they were eating, trying to build their strength back up. They had even gotten around to the bubble bath he had talked so much about. Jessica really appreciated the bath because not only had it gone a long way in helping relieve her soreness, but after what they did in the tub, she would never be able to go into her bathroom and look at it the same way again.

Jessica also noticed a difference in her writing. The morning after she first made love to Riley, she woke up bright and early. Unsure of how to act around him, she eased out of bed and sat at her desk. Suddenly, her fingers were flying across the keyboard and the book she had been working on took on a life of its own. Until Riley had woken up and dragged her back to bed, she realized her imagination was nothing compared to the real thing, and it was all because of Riley. She was happier than she had ever been before. The more time she spent with the man, the more she fell in love with him.

Once she finished making the bed, Jessica answered a few e-mails from her fans and one from her agent. She noticed the weather report playing on the TV in the background and saw that there was a winter storm coming in. The one bad thing about living in Pine Valley, Oregon was the unpredictable weather. It could easily be sunny one day and snowing the next. The town was known for its great hiking trails, but oftentimes those hikers had to be rescued because of bad weather they hadn’t prepared for. It looked like today was one of those days. Outside at the moment was a clear, calm seventy-five degrees, but ice and snow was expected by nightfall.

Chances were good that the electricity would go out, so Jessica headed downstairs to see what supplies she needed. She and Riley had pretty much cleaned out the refrigerator over the weekend, so Jessica wrote out a list of everything she needed from the grocery store. Luckily, the stove and water heater ran on gas. At least she wouldn’t starve or freeze trying to take a shower. She did have a small generator for serious emergencies and decided to check and make sure she had enough fuel for that as well. Living alone, a girl couldn’t be too careful
.

Once she was sure of everything she needed, Jessica headed out. Cane had been sent home from the hospital the day before, and she had made a few dinners to make it a little easier on the family with two newborns in the house. Plus, she hadn’t talked to Kerri since her kidnapping attempt, and Jessica wanted to make sure she was okay as well. She decided to stop by and see them first before getting her shopping done.

Jessica loaded her car with the food and headed over to the ranch. As she passed through town, she noticed she wasn’t the only one who had heard the weather report. She could tell the difference between the locals and the tourist by the way they moved. The locals took their time, while the tourists made mad dashes to the store. By the time Jessica got there that evening to do her shopping, all the bread, water, and eggs would be gone. She understood the water, but Jessica would never understand why the announcement of snow made people panic at the thought of not having any bread or eggs. She was more of a canned goods person herself. At least they would last longer.

In a really good mood, Jessica sung along to the radio until she arrived at the ranch. Riley must have heard her coming because he was opening her car door as soon as she stopped.

“Hey, little rabbit, you miss me?” He grinned as he kissed her.

The sad thing about it was that she actually did miss him. They had spent the weekend together and last saw each other a couple hours ago, but it didn’t matter, she had missed the man like crazy.

“I didn’t come here to see you,” she teased, “but I’m glad I did. It seems I can’t even go a few hours without touching you. You have ruined me.”

The dramatic sigh from her had Riley laughing and Jessica shivered. Even the sound of his laugh turned her on. “Come help me get this stuff out of the car. I brought food over so you guys didn’t have to worry about cooking. I’m sure having two newborns at home is stressful enough. Even if they aren’t yours.”

Riley groaned. “I’ve only been here a few hours, and I’m ready to leave again. For them to be so small, they are really loud and when one starts crying so does the other. It’s like listening to screaming in surround sound.”

Jessica laughed and followed him into the house. “Where is everybody?” she asked once the food was on the kitchen counter.

“Cane is in the back with Logan getting the babies fed. Ali is at the diner with Angel and Gavin. And Chase and Kerri, along with her father, had to go into town with Duncan to make statements and complete paperwork about what happened.”

“Is everything okay? I thought everything was cleared up the other night when they caught the guy.”

“I thought so, too.” Riley sighed and ran his fingers through his hair. “I just found out when I got home this morning that between Kerri, Chase, and her father, they ended up killing the guy. They didn’t tell us because they didn’t want us to worry while we were on our trip.”

“Oh God. They won’t get into any trouble, will they?” She didn’t know Kerri well, but Jessica was worried about her.

“It was pretty much self-defense. The guy held a gun to her head. I think now it’s just a matter of getting everything down on paper to make sure all of their bases are covered.”

Jessica nodded. The whole situation seemed like a bad nightmare. Her first instinct was to try and help, but she knew this was something Kerri and Chase had to work out on their own. She followed Riley as he led her down the hallway to the nursery. They found Cane rocking Mikey while Logan paced with Maddy.

“Hi,” she whispered, not sure if they were trying to get the babies to sleep.

Cane smiled. “Come on in. They aren’t asleep yet, so there’s no need to whisper.”

Jessica took a seat in the matching rocker next to Cane’s and held out her hands. Logan caught the hint and placed Maddy in her arms. Smiling down, she stroked the baby’s soft cheek.

  “What brings you out today?”

“You know I couldn’t resist visiting and playing with the babies. Plus I brought you guys a few dinners so no one has to worry about cooking with everything that’s been going on.”

“You didn’t have to, but thank you. That was very sweet.” Cane looked over at Jessica and grinned. “Although, with Riley over all weekend, I have to wonder where you found the time.”

Jessica could feel her face heating up as she tried to hold back a grin of her own. She looked over toward the door where Riley and Logan had been standing and saw that they were gone. “Oh. My. Goodness, Cane!” She squealed like a teenage girl. “I had the best weekend ever.”

“I can probably guess what you spent the weekend doing based on the look on your face.” Cane laughed. “I’m pretty sure it’s the same one I have when I look at Logan or Duncan. You love him.”

It wasn’t a question, but Jessica nodded anyway. She wanted everyone to know how happy and in love she was. “I’ll make you a deal,” she told Cane. “I will tell you about my weekend if you tell me about everything that happened here.”

Cane quickly agreed, and Jessica slowly rocked the baby as she listened to Cane.

  * * * *

Riley followed Logan into the kitchen after leaving Jessica with Cane. He couldn’t get over the sight of Jessica with a baby in her arms. An image of her pregnant with his child had popped into his head, and now he couldn’t get it out. The surprising thing was how he felt about the thought. He wasn’t running scared like he had expected. In fact, it felt right. Riley was slowly coming to the conclusion that he wanted Jessica in his life for good. He wanted her pregnant with his child. The only way to do that was to make her his wife.

“Do you think it’s too soon to ask Jessica to marry me?” he questioned Logan as soon as he was sure the women couldn’t hear them.

“Wow, I didn’t know you two were that serious.”

“Well, it’s a recent thing, but it just feels right to me.” Riley was unable to explain it any better than that. He already knew he wanted to spend the rest of his life with Jessica. The question was did she want to spend hers with him?

“Duncan knew instantly the moment he saw Cane that she was the woman for us. When he called me that night on the phone to tell me, I didn’t believe him. I was scared to get my hopes up in case he was wrong. When I first laid eyes on Cane, I knew Duncan had been right. I felt it deep in my gut. The only thing I can tell you is to go with your instincts. If your gut is telling you that the time is right, then go for it.” Logan stood to grab a beer out of the refrigerator. “Now enough of this mushy stuff. Let me tell you how totally cool it was delivering my own kids in the middle of a firefight.”

As Logan told his completely overexaggerated tale, complete with explosions and bullets flying past his head, Riley wondered whether or not he should ask Jessica to marry him. If he had his way, they would be married tomorrow, but he didn’t know about her. She had gone from running in the opposite direction whenever she saw him to losing her virginity to him all in short amount of time. Would she think it was too soon and run from him now?

Making his mind up, he decided to go ahead and ask her. If she thought it was too soon, then he would wait until she was ready. He was willing to give her all the time she needed. Either way, she was his, and he had no plans of letting her go.

“I’m going to do it,” he announced, interrupting Logan’s epic tale that now had him crawling on his belly with a baby in each arm in an effort to get them to safety. Riley had a feeling it was going to be a story told at every family get-together. Each time it was told, it was going to be different.

The women walked into the kitchen then, and Cane snorted. “Has he gotten to the part where he had to make a diving catch because the baby just shot right out of me?”

“No, I must have missed that part.” Riley laughed. Yep, changes every time. He watched Logan pull Cane into his lap and whisper in her ear. Whatever he said had Cane giggling and kissing him. The love between the two of them was clear enough for everyone to see. That’s what he wanted with Jessica. He just had t
o figure out a way to ask her and keep her from bolting in the opposite direction. He didn’t call her little rabbit for nothing.

“Will you walk me to the door?” Jessica asked when she was done putting the food away.

Riley stood to follow. “You aren’t staying a while?”

“No, I just stopped by to bring the food and to check on Cane. I still have to do a little shopping to stock up before the storm hits. You could come by later. Maybe stay the night?”

Riley wanted to so bad, but he had some planning to do and he needed his family’s help. “I can’t tonight. With the storm coming and everything else going on, I want to stay close to home.”

  “Oh, okay. I understand.”

She may have said she understood, but the dejected look on her face told another story. There was no way Riley could let her leave like that, so he kissed her. He tried his best to put all the lust, passion, and love that he felt for her into the kiss. When he pulled away, he left Jessica panting with that love-struck, goofy grin she had worn all weekend on her face. There, that’s better.

“I’ll call you tonight to check on you and I will come by first thing in the morning.”

  “Okay, love you.”

“I love you, too.” With one last kiss, Riley helped Jessica into her car and watched her drive away. He felt bad for not being there with her, but after tomorrow when he asked her to marry him he planned on them never sleeping in separate beds again.

When he couldn’t see her car anymore, Riley headed inside to start planning his future with the woman he loved.

  Chapter 8

Jessica didn’t even remember the drive home from Riley’s. So lost in thought, she didn’t realize that she had forgotten to go to the grocery store until she had been sitting in her driveway staring for about ten minutes. She debated about skipping it and just going in the house to curl up in the bed and wallow in her misery, but decided groceries were a necessity.
