“Icela? You are needed, Love. Let them go for now. Our people need us,” the Warrior said.

Icela nodded to him before facing the mirror. “Please contact me now and again, Rime. Gaia very kindly had this connection installed. I’m sure Topper won’t mind sharing it.”

“Topper doesn’t mind a bit,” Topper said, rocking a whimpering child in her arms. “Jessica is getting hungry. I need to go feed her. Blessed be, Goddess.”

“Blessings to you as well, Witch. Take care of Stark for me.”

  “Icela…” the Warrior said tersely.

Rime and Topper giggled. Icela smiled. “He’s so demanding,” Icela said.

“And a bit jealous,” Topper declared.

Icela’s laughter filled the room before she ended the call with a wave.

Rime let her breath escape. She looked at the Topper. “Wow. You really do have a connection to my Goddess.”

Topper nodded. “Unfortunately. She likes to meddle and I don’t even want to get into her feelings for Stark. That’s why I still haven’t told him about how I talk to her yet. She’s got her Warrior and I have mine. How many aliens does one Goddess need to keep her busy?”

Rime covered her mouth to smother a laugh about Topper’s attitude. She glanced at Thor who was smiling before moving her gaze to Quest. “Do you require any more proof of Icela’s will for me, Director?”

Quest huffed. “Not at this time. I wish to return now.”

“I wish you to as well,” Rime said firmly. “Take him to Stark, Thor. Tell my brother Quest can be sent back any time it is convenient. I’m staying in Magic for as long as I’m needed here.”

“And how will a female of your maturity survive here without a male?” Quest asked.

“I am not without a male. Thor takes great care of my needs. I choose to allow him to continue.”

“I see. Are you taking him as your mate then?” Quest asked bitterly.

“Whether I ultimately do or do not is my business. One day it may be Thor’s business as well. Icela will make it known if I leave the Sisterhood for him. That’s how you will know I have made my choice, Director.”

“I see your mind is made up.”

“Not really,” Rime said, smiling at Thor. “In the manner of all Earthlings, I choose to live one day at a time on this planet, Director. It’s called free will. Be well in your life. Don’t make me sorry for sparing it.”

Exhausted from helping people all day, Alfred had fallen asleep in his recliner because the bed smelled like his cat. He couldn’t be in it now without thinking of her. It was dark when consciousness returned to him. He awoke to a purring tabby in his lap. Happier than he could ever remember being, Alfred stroked his feline girlfriend until she stretched her lithesome body and changed into a purring woman.

She rubbed her face against his neck. “I love the way you smell. It makes me want to eat you.”

“Well, I’m sure there are far worse ways to die,” Alfred said.

Laughing, she rolled in his lap and straddled him. “Are you having company tonight?”

“Only if you’re staying with me,” Alfred whispered.

Giggling, his cat woman curved into him and hummed against his chest.

“I thank the Goddess you are here with me, Jeannie. I don’t want to stifle your urge to prowl when you need to, but know I will be grateful every day you return to me. If there’s anything you need…”

“There is,” she said, interrupting him. “Pet me, Alfred. I’ve been waiting a long time for you. No one appreciates my purring like you do.”

Alfred used his legs to kick the recliner closed and stood with his cat clinging to him. He laughed and put his hands under her naked hips. “I can pet you better in bed.”

Her purring accompaniment was music to his ears, but tonight he planned to make her yowl so loudly all of Magic would hear.

“How did you manage to keep an eye on Quest, gather my things from Alfred’s, and find a place to live all in one short afternoon?”

“The townspeople are very helpful. I just put out the word and Alfred did the rest. The house is not much at the moment, but we’ll have a bit of privacy at least.”

Thor stopped in front of a very small house. Rime looked at it and then at him.

“Are you sure we’re going to fit it in?” she asked, chuckling at its size.

“Well, the bed did fill the entire bedroom, but I have some ideas about how to open up the spaces to make it work. One of my many jobs in Alaska was in the construction trades. I’m quite proficient with my hands,” Thor explained.

“Yes, I know how talented your hands are,” Rime said, giggling at his instant grin. “I like you a lot, Warrior. What happens if I get used to you?”

“We’ll have ourselves a bigger adventure than either of us planned. You can come to Greenland with me. Or Alaska. You’d probably enjoy sledding there. The dog teams are incredible—such smart animals. Topper took Stark there on their honeymoon.”

Rime tilted her head. “What’s a honeymoon?”

Thor chuckled. “Maybe I’ll take you on one in a few months. It’s one of those Earth things that needs to be experienced.”

Rime considered asking more, but decided against it. She wanted to see inside the house. “Very well. I trust you to do what’s best for me, Warrior.”

“And I trust you too, Priestess. Do keep in mind though that I am merely a male.” Thor leaned down and scooped up his surprised woman before walking up the steps of their new home. “I am not above doing whatever is necessary to achieve my goals. And in case you don’t take hints well… earning your love is my goal.”

Rime leaned down and opened the door so Thor could carry her through it. “I will give you what I can, Warrior. You can ask no more of me.”

Thor laughed as he carried her through the house. “You will give me everything, Rime… and I will cherish it as the greatest blessing of my life, provided your brother doesn’t take that life before I have my wicked way with you. Stark doesn’t have the same appreciation for the way I wield my mighty hammer.”

Happier than he ever remembered being, Thor dropped a now loudly laughing Rime in the middle of the very large bed Alfred had made sure was waiting for them.

“You have a mighty hammer? Where?” Rime asked, faking as much surprise as she could. “I seem to have forgotten, Thor. Perhaps you should remind me.”

“Perhaps I should make sure you never forget again.”

He covered her body with his and felt the ice crystals climbing both of them as he kissed her.

Topper put their now peacefully sleeping baby between her and Stark. She was tired from the birth and from nursing, but it was still hard to let the baby sleep in the bassinet Theo had made for them. She didn’t want to let the child get too far away from her eyes.

Stark stared down at his daughter in reverence. “I think I’m still shocked she’s already here. We just made her a few months ago.”

Topper snorted. “I know, but I’m still relieved it’s all over. Goddess, that was hard to go through. Let’s wait a while before doing this again.”

Stark nodded. “I’m sorry you had to endure so much pain. I had no idea it would be so challenging for you.”

“I would endure it again for her,” Topper said, looking down. “But it does seem like there should be an easier way to bring children into the world. Gaia’s ways are mysterious and not always pleasant. Fortunately, the rewards are usually great.”

Stark leaned over his daughter and kissed his wife. “Thank you. I love you more than I ever have and I’m humbled by what you did.”

Topper smiled. “You’re going to be a great father.”

“I will endeavor to be the best I can be. I’m glad Rime is staying. Are you glad?”

“Exceedingly glad,” Topper told him with a smile. “I’m not very domestic… as you know. I will need help.”

There was silence for a moment. “I’m growing older again,” Topper said quietly.
Are you going to mind?”

Stark grinned and shook his head. “No, I will love you no matter your appearance. I do think you need to work through this issue in a healthier way. You obviously have a problem with your gift from your mother. If your beauty is meant to be timeless, why would you refuse it?”

“You’re right. I have a mental problem about it. Evanna thinks I need to remove the charm. Maybe I’ll do that before I revert completely to her age. This town has had enough shocks lately.” Topper sighed then remembered. “Speaking of shocks, how did it go with the men in black?”

“Like usual. They thawed and Evanna was waiting for them. Lacey helped this time. When Evanna got done with the basic memory adjustment, the entire town was out in the streets with hundreds of little electric machines making shaved ice. There was piles of it melting everywhere. The temperature drop from so many of them was a perfect foil. The men in black looked at the townspeople and shook their heads before leaving. I’m always amazed at how the people of Magic band together to protect each other.”

Topper nodded and laughed. “Yes, it’s one of the many things I like about this town.”

“I like it’s head witch the most,” Stark said fiercely. “In fact, I love her. She’s the most incredible female I’ve ever known in my entire life—even if she won’t tell me her real name.”

“She loves you back, but your ploy’s not going to work, Alien. I’m never, ever telling you, so give it up.”

“Regrettably, giving up is not in my nature. I remain determined to solve the mystery. Never is a very long time, Witch.”

“Get used to disappointment, Alien. I’m never telling you and no one else would dare,” Topper said.

  “We’ll see,” Stark bragged.

Then they both started laughing at their squabbling and didn’t stop until the baby began to whimper about all the noise. Life was good, their daughter was here, and Magic was safe. You couldn’t really ask more from a happy ending.

  Matchmaker Abduction Description

True love is said to defy time, but can it survive space, aliens, and being abducted? Angus MacNamara and Erin O’Shea are about to find out.

The big blue planet that most call Earth desperately needs matchmakers. There is only one small—okay, BIG—problem. No one wants the alien dating service job… No one. The original matchmakers are dead, and much worse, their DNA is no longer viable for cloning.

Solution? Go back in time to some of Earth’s other—thankfully slower spinning—versions, and retrieve the alternates of the one couple in any universe who seems able to do the job.

Far easier said than done though, especially when the alternates are anything but a loving couple, and both are none too pleased to be thrown into the future.

What does oil and water create? Salad dressing or a real mess of aliens, humans, and matchmaking fun!

  About the Author

After many years of doing everything for a living except writing books, I finally published my first romance novel in March of 2011. Thirty plus novels later, I am living my own happily ever after as a full time author.

I do my best to give back to the universe by hanging out to write at local coffee shops and helping keep them in business.

My work spans several genres, such as romance, paranormal, and science fiction. Humor is the most common element across all my writing. Addicted to making readers laugh, I include a good dose of comedy in every book.

I love to hear from readers. Here’s some easy way to get in touch.
