Architects of Memory
Page 33
Twenty-Five and her crew have been around, in some form or another, since my time at Nazareth College. So, to the legion of writers and creatives who believed in me and challenged me to be better all these years, a very tight group hug: Viable Paradise 20, Clarion UCSD ’17, the Maryland Space Opera Collective, the Orlando Writing League, #Broken_Dagger, 38th Argo, the Niskayuna Acting Troupe, the Isle of Write, the ’02–’07 staff of The Evangelist, and my current fabulous local writing circle in Baltimore, including Sarah Pinsker, Kellan Szpara, Michelle Appel, and Christopher Rose.
Thank you to the many writing mentors who encouraged me along the way, including James Breig, Kate Blain, James Edgar, Mary Van Keuren, Sherwood Smith, Denise O’Toole Kelly, Maryellen Potts, Virginia Skinner-Linnenberg, and Sr. Monica Weis; to my amazing parents, Richard and Sandra Dietlein, who had no idea what they were getting into when they bought me that word processor in 1992; to my brother, Michael Dietlein, my original collaborator and partner in crime; and to my daughter, Claire, my North Star.
And, finally, to my husband, Glenn, who believed in me from Day One of this long journey: thank you for helping me finish my own version of the Dopey Challenge. Love you always.
