A Girl Like You

I even know his favorite word.
We’d been dating about a month. We were sitting on the couch, my legs draped across his lap, watching the Tampa Bay Rays play the Yankees. The Rays were down two runs.
“I hate those Yankees,” Richard said.
“Yeah, me too.” See? I told you I could hate the Yankees if I thought about it enough.
Then I turned and asked him what his favorite word in the whole wide world was. He never took his gaze off the screen as he answered, “Home run.” Thank God he doesn’t allow me to take myself too seriously.
Last night we talked until three a.m., discussing the plot of his latest Steve Danger novel. I still think he should stop teasing his audience and get Steve and Bridget together, but Richard disagrees (he is also incredibly stubborn). There is a fancy literary agent who is interested in his novel Curveball. He asked Richard for some revisions, which Richard is happily doing. I keep my fingers and toes constantly crossed that it all works out.
So, back to last night. I told you we brainstormed till three in the morning, but we didn’t actually go to sleep until a couple of hours later. What we did in between the brainstorming and the sleep, well…some things a girl likes to keep just to herself.
But there is one more thing I will tell you about Richard.
He is everything I ever dreamed of.
And more.
