Walking upstairs to the incident room, Charlie asked, “Is that wise? Leaving them alone like that?”
“I think so. Sometimes you have to trust your gut on these things, Charlie.”
“I suppose. God only knows how Penny is going to react to the news.”
“After the initial shock, I’m sure she’ll be thrilled to learn her mother is still alive.”
“But she’ll be banged up for the rest of her life…”
“True. They’ll be able to visit her often, that’s more than either of them could have wished for.”
