“It is from Charles my dear.”

Ivy ran around the desk and tore the letter from Thorn’s hand. He watched her as she paced in front of the fireplace back and forth, reading the letter. He needed to keep her calm, because of the news that he knew that she wanted to share with him. She didn’t go with them today because he knew that she had the doctor visit her at the house today.

Smiling to himself that Ivy though that she could keep this kind of secret from him. There was no other person that knew her body like him. There were some slight changes in the last month and it was really confirmed on the carriage ride to London. When she wasn’t sleeping, she was getting sick, they had to pull the carriage to the side of road many times.

“He thinks he has found her but is watching her activities. He has not seen any sign of Zane or Shears in his search.” Ivy told Thorn.

  “I know love.”

“What is he waiting for? He told me he has feelings for her, why doesn’t he talk to her?”

“It is complicated Ivy. He may have feelings for her, but he does not trust her. She could still be connected with Shears and that would only put Charles in danger if he plays his hand too soon.”

  “I worry about him Thorn.”

Thorn reached his hand out to Ivy to come over to him. Ivy grabbed his hand and slid onto his lap. Thorn wrapped her in his arms holding her close. He ran this hand down through her hair stroking it softly. She nestled in closer feeling secure in his arms.

“I know you do. He is playing it safer this time around. He keeps in contact with us, so that we know where he is. But the fact of the matter is that he still has a mission to complete.”

“I know, but it is not going to stop me from worrying any less.”

They sat in silence, each other thinking about Charles in different ways. Ivy hoping that he finds what he is looking for in Raina and that he finds Zane to talk some sense into. She did not want him anywhere near Shears but knew that he had to be; to complete his mission. Thorn had not shown Ivy the other part of the letter that he had slid into the top drawer of the desk. He had read that part of the letter first. Charles had been writing them two different sets of letters. One that were for Thorn’s eyes only and the other that he could share with Ivy. It was the first letter that Thorn was thinking about now.

Shears was in the area but without Zane. Charles feared for Raina’s safety, but was unable to convince her of his help. He would write soon after he found out more on Shears activities. Ivy’s life was always going to be at risk as long as Shears was on the loose. Keeping Ivy safe was more important now than ever; he thought as he slid his palm over her stomach softly caressing it.

Ivy looked up into Thorn’s eyes as she felt his caress. He knew. He smiled at her and place a gentle kiss on her lips.

“Do you have something to tell me my love?”

  “How do you know?”

“Ivy my dear, I know everything there is about you. Am I correct in what I’m thinking? Am I going to be a father?”

Ivy wrapped her arms around his neck pulling him down for a sweet kiss.

“Yes my love you are going to be a father in seven months’ time. Are you happy?

Thorn stood up with Ivy in his arms and swung her around, kissing her with all his happiness.

“You have made me the happiest man on earth again.”

“Thorn please stop you are making me dizzy,” Ivy pleaded feeling sick again.

Thorn noticed how pale Ivy was from his excitement and he gently lowered her to the couch. Laying down next to her, curving her body along his. He placed soft kisses across her brow down to her lips.

  “I am sorry love.”

Ivy cupped his cheek as she smiled at him. His enthusiasm made her feel so secure in their love. He was going to make a wonderful father to their children. All her dreams had come true because of him. It all started with a kiss in the rose garden. She hoped they had a girl, so they could name her Rose.

Thorn smiled back at Ivy. She was so precious to him and the love of his life. To think that he almost walked away from it all. He hoped they had a girl just like her mama. With long blond hair, green eyes, and a curiosity for all things.

  “Thorn,”

“Yes my dear,” he said as he bent to kiss her gently on the lips.

“I gave the staff the rest of the night off.”

Thorn threw back his head and laughed for the pure joy of it. His little minx.

“Well we better take full advantage of that then my dear,” he said as he began to peel her dress away from her body kissing her as he went along.

Ivy laughed with love, “I love you Marcus Thornhill.”

“And I love you my sweet Ivy.”
