  Luke squeezed her hands once she finished, searching her face as she took in the hypnotizing appeal of his eyes. Deep shades of green accented by silver flecks. And as he offered heartfelt vows of his own, Payton felt the depths of her love for him stretching and swelling beyond anything she’d known. “After what I’d been through, I worried I wouldn’t be able to give my heart away,” Luke explained. “But that didn’t exactly matter since—ready or not—you up and stole it from me.”

  That earned a round of laughs from the crowd. Payton was glad they had a videographer there to record the ceremony. She’d likely watch it back again and again. Next it was time to exchange rings, which allowed Pete to play his part with the ring pillow, and soon the pastor was calling them husband and wife, assuring Luke he could kiss his bride.

  As Payton kissed her groom at last, she mused on the love he’d brought into her life. Every happy ending had a beginning. With Luke and their loved ones and the farm animals too, they were in for a wild ride.

  And while she looked forward to what the years ahead had in store, Payton planned to enjoy the journey along the way. Giddy up!
