“Yes, George. I am sure, now, please,” she whispered breathlessly, shifting her hips, trying to get more of him. When he sunk in, she screamed and both fell still.
He waited for her to adjust to his length and girth and marveled in the warmth her tight cunt offered. He trembled, his eyes searching her. When she nipped his mouth with hers, he pulled out of her the tiniest bit and took her mouth hungrily as she hooked her legs around his, pulling him back to her. He grasped her hip and held her to the bed, growling. “You make me so fucking horny, Keena.” He thrust roughly into her.
Keena panted, her cunt milking George as he thrust in and out of her. She reached down and circled her clit with her finger. She hoped he wouldn’t get mad that she touched herself. She bit her lip, grasping her breast with her other hand and tugging at her nipple.
“Again, Keena. Harder this time,” George demanded. When she had pinched at her nipple, her cunt had squeezed delightfully around his cock. “That’s it, baby, more, keep on doing that,” he ordered, keeping his thrusts steady. He wasn’t sure how long he could keep it up. Sweat beaded on his temples and he was sure he was sweating all over her.
When she shifted her hips and a squeal escaped her, he knew that was the spot she needed hit. He hammered her pussy and soon had her screaming in ecstasy beneath him, her hands clutching at him, her gaze on his, his name whispering off her lips.
Keena shuddered for a third time when she felt his dick pulse in her. When his body stiffened on top of her, she could see the fight to keep his eyes open and focused on hers. It was the first time a man had looked her in the eye as she came, as he came. It was the most exhilarating feeling she had ever felt.
George held himself above her until both had caught their breath. He grinned at her, laying a soft kiss on her lips. “Good morning, Keena,” he greeted.
Keena giggled. Right-out giggled. “Good morning, George,” she greeted right back, her eyes glued to his. The laughter that danced there brought utter warmth and light to her heart. How had this man made her giggle like a little girl? She caressed his cheek and touched that adorable dimple. He tilted his head, laying a kiss on her palm. As she watched, her gaze fell to her wrists. Her whole body tensed and reality came crashing around her. What had she done?
George felt it the moment reality had struck her. Her body stiffened and that scared look had entered her eyes again. He hated that look. “Keena.”
Keena shook her head. “I should go. We should get up. I…you’re probably late for work. I most likely am,” she stammered, already trying to get from beneath him.
George shook his head. “Whoa, sugar, hold on a sec here.”
Keena froze and couldn’t bring herself to look him in the eye.
“Uh-uh, girl. You look at me,” he ordered. When her gaze finally met his, he let himself slide from the warmth of her body. There, in the depths of her eyes, he saw the most crushing image. She was already giving up and putting up her walls again. He made a promise to himself right then and there. He would break down those walls brick by brick till she had no choice but to let him in, and when he got in…he would make sure she had no reason to build any walls. He would protect her always.
Chapter Nine
Rick glanced under the truck George’s feet stuck out from. “George, phone call,” he called, standing upright. He smiled as the trolley rolled out from under the truck. “I think it’s Keena,” he offered.
George rolled his eyes. “Not likely, my friend.”
Standing, he grabbed the old rag out of his back pocket and wiped his greasy fingers till they were halfway clean. He nodded to the new guy Jared had hired from the high school, Miller. The kid was good with his hands. Tomorrow, George would be showing him the more detailed aspects of an engine.
He grinned to himself. He loved fucking around with the newbies, and taking apart an engine and knowing full well the newbie would not be paying attention, he’d make the poor kid put it all back together by himself. His grin widened as he remembered the last kid he had done it too. Poor kid had near come to tears. Rick had taken pity and walked him through it. He really hoped Miller would know how to pay attention and that Rick wouldn’t save his ass. These kids needed to learn. If Miller had any common sense, the kid should know that taking apart an engine was like a puzzle. You had to remember where your pieces went.
He sauntered into the office, nodding at Lila. Leaning over, he pecked his beautiful niece, Anne, on the cheek. “Unca George,” she greeted in her sweet, squeaky voice.
“Sweetheart, I see you’re carrying your favorite around today,” he drawled, eyeing the Curious George monkey hugged in her little arms.
She nodded, dark brown hair slipping over her shoulder. “My Uncle George,” she replied, nice and clear. He smirked, swiping his knuckles across her cheek. She was a precious little addition to their family. His own heart yearned for the day he would be able to have his own little people running underfoot.
Jared held the phone to him. “Keena,” he murmured, stepping away from his seat, giving George the office.
George waited while everyone cleared out and the door was closed. “Hello,” he murmured.
“Hi…I…George, I’m sorry…I need help.”
George looked at the clock on the wall. Eight-thirty in the morning and she was calling for help? Shit, he hadn’t talked to her in a month. He had sent her a bouquet of pink roses the afternoon that he had dropped her off. Sent yellow ones a few days later, giving her his home, work, and cell numbers, letting her know she could call when she was ready to talk or needed him in any way. He knew she was spooked and sorting through things. He would give her the time she needed.
The week after, he had sent red roses. A few days later, an assortment of roses. It was in the third week when he had sent purple ones that they had been sent back to him. The damn things had sat in the lunch room until Rick had gotten upset and chucked them in the garbage, vase and all. George had stopped sending the flowers then. It had tugged painfully at his heart not to send them with the little notes wishing her a beautiful day, but if she didn’t want them, he couldn’t and wouldn’t keep on bothering her. She never tried to call him, see him, nothing. He assumed she just hadn’t wanted anything to do with him.
“What’s up, Keena? You okay?” She sounded spooked, more spooked than that first night he had met her. A cold shiver ran down his spine and he sat up straighter. He needed to prepare himself for whatever it was she was about to share.
Keena cleared her throat. “I…You said you would help me if I ever needed help?” she blurted. Please let him have been telling the truth. She wiped away at the tears rolling down her dirty face. She sobbed as she spotted the dried blood on her hand. Please let him keep his word. She had no one else to turn to.
George nodded. “Yes.”
“He came last night. He found me!” she cried. She knew she needn’t have to say any more than that. George knew about David. Surely he would figure that was the “he” she spoke of. She looked around the street. Had David followed her? Her heartbeat raced and dread filled her. She needed to keep moving. David would catch up to her and who knew what he would do to her this time? She sobbed and her hand flew to her mouth to try and hide it. Her shoulders shook and the aches of her body weighed her down.
He could hear her tears and a jolt of dread ripped through him. “Where are you?” he demanded, already grabbing his keys from the top drawer of the desk. He looked frantically around the office. Shit!
“I don’t know. When I saw his car and him headed up to the building, I bolted. I ran…There’s an old, rundown coffee shop. Shoot.” She looked around. “East side of the city!” she cried. “I don’t know where I’m at! I went to the side of the city I thought he would never come to. He doesn’t like scummy areas.” Oh, goodness. Would he know she had done that? Was he already here, watching her? Her hands trembled uncontrollably.
George nodded and pulled out the map of the city. East side was definitely the scumm
y part. “More info, Keena, I need a street,” he ordered. He looked at the many streets. He drew up what he could in his own thoughts. He’d been over there quite a few times. He and Jazz volunteered at the soup house.
Keena looked around. “Fifty-fourth,” she mumbled. She was sure that said fifty-fourth. “I can’t see. I left in a rush and forgot my contacts.” She was panicking. Her breathing had picked up and the world around her blurred. “Oh, God, George. Please,” she begged.
“Are you at a payphone or calling from your cell?”
“Payphone, I was scared. I didn’t want him to get me. I ran before I grabbed anything. If he got in, he will know I lived there. He will find me. Please, George.” Stars sparked in her vision. She could hear his voice soothing her to calm down. She closed her eyes and inhaled slow, steady breaths. She slid to the dirty floor of the phone booth and gagged at the smells surrounding her.
George furrowed his brows. Fifty-fourth, it would take him nearly twenty minutes to get there. He looked out the window of the office. Jazz should be in the area. He did breakfasts at a shelter around there. “Remember Jazz, sugar, from the club?” Please let her remember Jazz. Because if she didn’t, she was about to be a little more terrified.
“Tall, friendly bartender?” she asked in a shaky voice. Yes, he had kind eyes. He had talked to her at the club. He was safe. George was his friend. He had to be safe.
“Yeah, him. He’s in the area. I’m going to send him to you. It could take me a few minutes, but he’ll get to you quicker. I’ll call him right now. You stay right where you’re at and when you see him, you go with him, okay?”
Keena nodded wiping the tears away.
“Keena, answer me, sugar,” he ordered.
“Yes, George. I will go with Jazz,” she repeated.
“Okay, Jazz will keep you safe till I get there.”
“Okay, hurry, please. I’m scared, George.” She cried, hugging her housecoat closer around herself.
“Soon, Keena,” he murmured. He hung up. Grabbing his cell, he ripped himself free of his coveralls.
Lila and Jared looked at him. “Keena okay?” Jared asked. He didn’t like the wild look in his little brother’s eyes.
George nodded, dialing Jazz’s number. “Need to go to the east side. Be right back.”
Jared nodded, watching his brother rush out. Lila hugged Anne closer. “Paula said her husband put those marks on her,” she murmured. Jared nodded. Sam had told him already. Keena had been the main topic of family discussion since the bonfire. Never had George brought a woman out to the Keepher homestead. For him to bring her out told every free Keepher male to stay the hell away.
* * * *
Keena huddled on the cold concrete against an old brick building. Her heart jumped every time a person approached. Would Jazz even recognize her? She probably wouldn’t even recognise him. How could she have let her guard down? She had a stupid plan in place just for this reason. She groaned and sniffled, wiping the tears from her eyes. So close. He had gotten so close.
Would George be mad when he found out she lied, that David had gotten in her apartment? She wasn’t even sure how she had gotten away. All she knew was that she saw freedom and ran. She didn’t stop till she felt he wasn’t behind her. She moaned in anguish, running her hands through her tangled hair. She should have called the authorities. She shook her head in shame, letting the wracking sobs take over. Confusion overwhelmed her. Her first thought was to call George. She needed George. She couldn’t do this alone. She couldn’t face the doctors and the authorities by herself. George would help her. She was sure of it.
“Keena…?” Her name was whispered in a shocked masculine voice.
Keena looked up. Tall and thick, it was her wrestler. She was sure it was him. He was a little blurry around the edges. “Jazz?” she asked in a shaky voice.
Jazz knelt in front of her. “Yeah, it’s me, sweetheart. George said to take you with me,” he murmured softly. She looked at him. He reached into his pocket and she pushed herself tighter against the building, a startled whimper escaping her. “I’m going to call George and let him know I found you…You can talk to him, okay?”
Jazz quickly dialled the number. George was going to be pissed when he saw her, thoroughly fucking pissed and ready to go on the rampage. If Jazz knew one thing about the Keepher men, it was they did not tolerate men harming women.
Keena watched as he dialled George’s number. “Hey, George, I got her. We’re just down the street from the shelter. I think you should talk to her,” he murmured. He handed his cell to Keena. He swallowed at the blood on her hands. Maybe he needed to call the authorities as well. They had to see her in this state, know that she had obviously fought for her life. He sure as hell hoped all that dried blood wasn’t from her. Fuck! This could end badly for her. They needed to find out who did this and why, and what the fuck was going on in this little sweetheart’s life that she would end up in this state.
“George?” she whispered, keeping her eyes on Jazz.
“Yeah, sugar, here. You go with Jazz. He’ll keep you safe.”
Keena nodded. “You’ll be here soon?” She thought she could hear the engine of his little car in the background. Tears spilled from her eyes. Please let him be on his way. He was safe to be with, and, damn it, her heart ached to have his protective arms around her. He would keep her safe. She just knew he would.
“Ten more minutes, sugar. Put Jazz on the phone,” he ordered in the softest voice he could muster.
Keena handed the phone back to him and just as quickly tucked her hand back into the dirty sleeve of her tattered housecoat. Jazz cleared his throat. “We’ll be at the shelter, George. Get there now,” he ordered.
George knew that tone. That wasn’t good. Jazz never used that tone unless it was bad. That was a good warning, though. It prepared him for the worst. He needed that right now. He didn’t want to scare Keena even worse than she already was.
George stormed into the shelter. A few homeless men sat at the tables, all of them looking over their hunched shoulders at him as he passed through the main dining room. A volunteer stood behind a clear counter getting lunch ready.
“I’m looking for Jazz,” George barked. The woman hooked a thumb over her shoulder. George went through a pair of swinging doors and came to a halt at the sight before him.
Jazz knelt in front of Keena, camera in hand. George’s heart dropped into his stomach. Keena cried out when she saw George. She hopped to her feet and rushed to him.
He held up his hands. “Hold on, sugar!” he ordered. His heart cried out. He couldn’t even hold her. They would have to wait for the authorities to get there and look her over, and get any evidence off of her before he could even fucking hold her! Anger flooded him. This was not fair. His jaw ticked and his nostrils flared. He swore he would hunt down the fucker who did this to her and kill him!
Keena stopped in front of George’s hands. She shook her head. “I have to hide, George. I need to get away now, before he finds me!” she cried. Didn’t he understand that she needed to hide? It was the only way she could keep safe from David. Hot tears rolled down her cheeks and she sobbed aloud. He wasn’t going to help her. He was going to hand her to the authorities and they would hand her back to David. She shook her head frantically. “He’s going to kill me.” She turned tear-blurred eyes to George. “He will torture me and take his time killing me!” she screeched.
He cooed to her till she sat back down. George swallowed the lump in his throat. Her face was bruised. Dried blood was splattered over her cheek. It stained her skin under her nose. Her eyebrow was cut and caked with blood as well. Her housecoat was covered in even more blood, but he wasn’t sure if it was hers or this man’s who had hunted her down.
“Calm down, sugar. Let Jazz take a few pictures. Where else are you hurt?” he asked calmly. There was no way he was going to allow this sick fuck to ever touch his Keena again.
Keena shook her head. “I can’t tell you
He’ll kill me if I tell,” she whispered, her eyes going wild again. Pain re-awoke throughout her body. The things he would do to her the next time he caught her…the things he had already done. He was getting worse, meaner, and quicker.
Jazz lay a hand on her knee. “Shh, sweetheart, calm. You’re safe. He won’t get you here. Remember the nice men out front said they would take care of you. They will not let anyone through those doors,” he reminded her, and he knew they wouldn’t. Those men had spent years on the streets. They knew the kind of man that would come after this sweetheart, and there was no way he would make it to the back room.
Keena looked at him. “Safe here…I’m safe here. He can’t get me here. He wouldn’t look here for me!” she repeated, a dazed look filling her eyes. Her shoulders slumped. “I’m so tired,” she mumbled. Tears continuously fell down her bruised cheeks. It had to stop. She didn’t deserve this. Why was he doing this to her? Why couldn’t he just leave her alone?
George knelt next to Jazz as Jazz continued taking photos of her. “I called the authorities,” Jazz whispered. George nodded. He needed to get back to her apartment and see what the hell had happened.
Keena looked at George. She needed to tell him the truth. “I lied,” she mumbled, looking away from George, shame in her eyes. “He made it into my apartment. I didn’t look through the stupid peephole.” Her eyes closed and when she opened them, more tears made their way down her cheeks. She hugged her housecoat closer around herself. Would this hell ever end?
George furrowed his brow at the ring on her finger. “Was he still there when you left, babes?” That fucker put her wedding ring back on her fucking finger. How had he managed that? Force, there was no way Keena would put that thing back on her finger herself unless it was to save her life. Fuck’s sake, what the hell had this fucker put Keena through?
