Virginie and Olivia both leaned in, trying to get a closer look at the screen. Amongst the teenagers was a tall man wearing a red cloak. In the bright lights of the concert hall, he was clearly visible.

“Why didn’t we see him before?” Virginie said under her breath. Even in the sea of colors, the red-hooded man looked out of place.

  “Huh,” Olivia said.

“Who wears that to a concert?” Virginie said. “I mean, it’s hot and sweaty with all of those people and…”

“Is something wrong?” Axel asked, noticing the girls’ surprise.

“I think we found something,” Olivia said.

Axel grinned. “Yeah?” he said. They stood from their seats and moved toward her.

Olivia looked up at her and bit her lip. Axel sat on her other side and Kain, Lovejoy, and Trevor had gathered behind the couch, so they could look over everyone’s shoulders. Both Virginie and Olivia exchanged fan-girl smiles before turning back to the phone. The girls showed Night the footage of the man in a red cloak.

  The boys leaned in.

  “Huh,” Trevor said.

Axel reached over and tapped Play. The video continued, showing the stoic figure until Olivia had turned the camera around to face the stage again. The band was starting to take the stage. That’s when the video ended.

“Start from the beginning,” Axel said.

Olivia did as she was told.

“You can skip this part,” Virginie whispered, feeling her cheeks flush as they watched a gitty and shy Virginie filmed by Olivia who was teasing her about how the concert was going to be the start of Virginie’s torrid love affair with Axel Night. There were some scattered snickers between band members.

  “You’re too cute,” Trevor said.

Olivia tapped on the small triangle button, trying to skip ahead to when the concert started. Axel stopped her.

“No, no. I want to make sure that we don’t miss anything. Just in case.”

“I get it.” She pressed Play again.

They laughed at the girls’ antics. “You two are great,” Lovejoy said.

The video reached the part of the red-hooded figure, and Olivia paused the video. “Try zooming in,” Axel said. While most of the mysterious man’s face was hooded, they could see he had pale skin and sharp features: a pointed chin and nose. His thin lips were expressionless, but the straight line formed by his lips said so much. It sent shivers down the girls’ spines.

“This man might be the shooter,” Kain said, as the guys retreated to their seats. “We have to find him.”

“How are you going to do that?” Olivia asked. “I mean, it’s just some cloaked guy. We don’t even know what he looks like. It’s not even good enough for a police sketch.”

Trevor laughed. “I can just see that. Some red scribbles on a sheet of paper. The police won’t get anywhere with that.

  “That’s right,” Virginie said.

Kain nodded. “The cops may not be able to help, but we do know someone who can. Don’t we, Trevor?” He eyed Trevor, who just looked away from him. “Eureka can help.”

  Virginie raised an eyebrow. “Eureka?”

A mischievous smile crept across Lovejoy’s face. “Eureka is the lady that Trevor’s got the hots for,” he said.

Trevor’s face flushed. He waved Lovejoy off. “Shut up. She didn’t ask you. She was asking Kain.”

Virginie turned to Kain who smiled. “Eureka’s Trevor’s next ex-wife.”

“Hey!” Trevor said, standing up. “What’s this ex-wife business? She’s not going to be my ex-anything. And what do you mean NEXT? You’re the one that’s always hopping from one girl to another.”

He continued to talk while Kain just mimicked his moving mouth with his hand.

Axel laughed. “Eureka is our friend. She owns this mansion.”

“Oh!” Virginie looked around again. “I thought this was yours. Well…” She looked at the guys, then around at the exquisite furniture and the beautiful décor. The band members were dressed in leather pants and jeans. Lovejoy’s boots were scuffed. They weren’t exactly dressed to meet royalty, even though this room looked as if it was set up to entertain the Queen of England. “I guess that makes sense.”

Axel looked down at himself and snickered. “I guess that’s pretty obvious, isn’t it?” He cleared his throat. “Anyway, she’s able to track people with photos.”

“Oh wow,” said Olivia. “I bet that really comes in handy.”

Trevor grinned. He’d stopped bickering with Kain. “You have no idea,” he said.
