Even When It's Wrong

She quickly shook her head. “You don’t have to go nowhere. Just get your head together, and in the meantime I’ma be right here. Shit, we been at it for too long now to just let it go.”

“Alright,” I sighed heavily, really not knowing what the hell she was talking about. We’d been at what? Not fucking, and me avoiding her? Hell, I aint know what was going on in Meeka’s head, and how she saw our relationship. My only guess was that she mistook my willingness to finger fuck her every blue moon for something more, like actual mutual attraction. And I guess that’s why she’d convinced herself that the reason we wasn’t fucking was because I was suffering from erectile dysfunction in my early twenties. But being the good nigga I was, I was willing to let her believe that, if that’s what she needed to help her sleep at night.

Jumping in the shower, I washed my ass, while thinking about strangling Mya. She had me sleeping on that uncomfortable couch, putting a crook in my neck, because she wanted to play games. But I had her ass, though. I was gonna be outside of her school waiting on her to come out, and she was gonna have to get her mind right.

  ******

I pulled up to Mya’s school ten minutes before it ended. That way I knew for sure that I’d catch her. So, I was becoming pissed off as thirty minutes tipped by with no sign of her. I thought that all hope was lost, until I spotted her little friend.

I rolled down my window. “Say, Nerie, come here!”

Her lil’ hot ass thought that she was cute, as she twisted over to my car. “What’s up?” she leaned into the passenger’s window.

“Where your girl at? I been out here forever, and still haven’t seen her. She came to school today?”

  She smiled. “Who, Mya?”

  “Of course.”

“Yeah, she came today.” She paused for a second, before, “Ooh, shit, I seen her leaving out the back way.”

“Yeah?” I furrowed my brows. “How did she leave?”

“Uh.” She scratched her head. “I think she left with one of our classmates.”

  I frowned. “Male or female?”

She rolled her eyes, as she shook her head. “It was male, but they’re just friends. Trust me. She’on like him like that.”

“Uh huh. How long ago was that?”

  “About ten minutes ago.”

  “Alright.” I nodded. “Bet.”

“Alright.” She backed up, before I pulled away from the curb.

Mya had me thirty-eight hot, as I texted her.

Me: Who the fuck did you ride home with? Why you out here disrespecting me?

It took her forever to reply back, and when she did, she hit me with the coldest one.

Her: I’m sorry. Who is this?

Right then, I knew what type of games she was playing, and I was lying dead to get in her ass. Shit, I wanted to get at her so bad that I went home, and waited on her ass, bypassing several licks. But like the day before, she played me, coming in with her mama, leaving no room for me to say anything. Then once again, she slept with her door wide open. By this time, I’d gotten the message. She was trying to end things, but little did she know, nothing was ending unless I said so.

  Mya

“Sometimes I feel like there’s no getting through to you. Like you don’t appreciate all that I do. You gotta show me that you want me to stay. Don’t turn and walk away,” I sang, as I scrolled through my phone, looking at different pictures of me and Omari.

“Your lovesick ass I getting on my nerves,” Cavalli complained, as I sat on her bed.

I lifted my head. “Lovesick? Bitch, aint nobody lovesick.”

“Yeah, right. I’m supposed to believe that I while you sit here singing the queen of break-ups’ songs?”

  “Whatever.” I rolled my eyes.

“Uh huh,” she pursed her lips, before flopping down next to me. “So, what’s been going on with you, and Omari? He’s still running behind you?”

I sighed exhaustedly. “You know he was chasing me for like a week straight, but I was ducking and dodging his ass. But now he’s not coming home at all, and he stop sending me texts. So, I guess he got the picture.”

“Don’t sound like you’re too excited about it.”

I shrugged, not bothering to say anything, because she knew the answer to that. Him leaving me alone was probably for the best, but that didn’t mean that I liked it. Still, I was willing to accept it, and move forward.

“Well, I think that you and him being over is a good thing.” She unconsciously swung her feet. “Other people wouldn’t be as understanding as me, and I know you’d hate that kind of backlash.”

“Fuck them people,” I snapped. “It aint like their opinions ever done shit for me one way or another. They’ll be the same muthafuckas who sat back, while my mama treated me like shit, and never opened their mouths.”

“True,” she nodded. “But fuck all that. Did you ever call that dude?”

I glanced at her. “What dude?”

  “You know. Flame.”

“Ooh, girl I forgot to tell you.”

  “What?”

“Why we ran into him at the mall, and him and Omari exchanged words?”

  “No shit? Why?”

“Because he accidentally bumped into me, and Omari accused me and him of being too friendly. Shit got out of hand, and Kells’ messy ass flashed his gun.”

  “Noooo.”

  “Yup.”

“Omari’s bitch ass always finding a way to hate. Always trying to fuck up the program,” she scrunched up her face, as if he’d done something to her personally. “But okay,” she sighed. “Did ole boy say anything out the way to you?”

  “No.”

“Alright, then, yall good. Call his ass.”

“And say what?” I wanted to know.

“Shit, let him know who you are. I’m pretty sure that he can take it from there.”

  “I don’t know,” I hesitated.

“Bitch,” she gave me a look.

“Alright, alright,” I gave in, scrolling to his name in my phone. With jittery butterflies in my stomach, I called him.

“Put it on speaker,” Cavalli whispered.

Nodding my head, I activated the speaker option.

“Who this?” he answered rather loudly.

  “Uh, this is Mya.”

“Mya? Mya, how I know you?”

“Wow, so you go around flirting with people, getting into confrontations with their people, but don’t remember their names?”

“Ooh, is this big, fine, pretty Mya? No disrespect, but the one was the great big booty?”

I giggled uncontrollably. “Is that really what you identify me by?”

“Honestly? Hell, yeah. You finer than a muthafucka. That’s why I be disrespecting the G code for you. That’s the only reason your lil’ boyfriend is still breathing. I know that a nigga be out of line for coming at you like that in his presence, but I just can’t help myself.”

“First off, I don’t have a boyfriend,” I corrected him.

“Oh, shit. That nigga done fucked up. I knew he’d slip up eventually.”

  “You funny,” I snickered.

“Aye, I try, I try,” he claimed. “Say, hold up,” he told me. “Sand Man, count that money, my nigga. I don’t fuck with ole boy like that. It’s supposed to be five racks there. It better not be a penny less,” he spoke to someone in the background. “Yeah, hello.”

  “Yeah, I’m here.”

“My bad, mama. Now, back to what I was saying,” he cleared his throat. “If you don’t mind me asking, how old are you? Cause that body screams grown woman, but you got a baby face. And a nigga aint trying to catch a case.”

“Okay, well, honestly, I’ll be eighteen in a month.”

“Yeah? You wouldn’t lie to me, huh?”

“No. My birthday is October 15th. On everything.”

“Alright. I’ma take your word for it.”

  “Please do.”

“So, I take that you still stay with yo
ur T-Lady, huh?”

  “Yes, I do.”

“Aint nothing wrong with that. You in school or what?”

“Yep. I graduate this year. Probably number three in my class.”

  “No bullshit?”

  “No bullshit,” I concurred.

“That’s what’s up. I likes a girl with a head on her shoulders. You gon fuck around and be my lil’ girlfriend.”

“I guess. Are you sure that you don’t already have a girlfriend?”

“Nah, man. I’m single as a dollar bill. It’s been that way since I broke up with my lil’ girl’s mama.”

“Oh, really? And how long ago was this?”

“About eight or nine months ago.”

“And how old is your daughter?”

  “She just made two.”

“Aw,” I cooed into the phone. “And I bet she’s cute just like her daddy.”

  “That’s what they say.”

  “Uh huh, I bet.”

“Yeah so, tell me when can I come scoop you up, Mya? I wanna take your fine ass out.”

I glanced at Cavalli, as she mouthed, “Now.”

  “Umm, I don’t know,” I said instead.

“Well, where you at, right now? What are you doing?”

“I’m at my cousin’s, right now. She lives in a complex right by TSU, because she goes there.”

  “So, you in the Tre?”

  “Yeah.”

“Well, shit, let me come see you. I mean, unless you scared.”

  “Never that.”

“Okay, then. Let a nigga pull up.”

“Okay,” Cavalli answered for me, causing me to buck my eyes.

“That’s what’s up,” he uttered, sounding satisfied. “I’ma hit you up when I’m outside.”

“Okay,” Cavalli responded again, before he hung up.

I shook my head at her. “You just gotta make shit go your way.”

“Whatever, hoe. You was stalling out, and aint nobody got time for that. If I would’ve left it up to you that would’ve been your first and last time calling him.”

“Which would’ve been my damn business.”

“Yeah, yeah. It is what it is. That nigga’s on his way now.”

“Yeah, he is,” I breathed. “I guess it is what it is, but I’ma need you to mind your business from here on out.”

She laughed. “I might. As long as you aint doing nothing crazy.”

  “Like what?”

She twisted her neck. “Like dealing with Omari’s ass again.”

I had to laugh at that one. “Fuck you.”

  Chapter 21

  Mya

I had been kicking it with Flame for a couple of weeks now. Ever since the day he’d come by to see me at my cousin’s, he made it his mission to see me daily. He’d even show up after school, serving as my ride home. He always took detours, before dropping me off, but it had all been fun.

Flame was a cool dude, who was out in the streets heavily. He was twenty-three, and was getting to it. He claimed that the only down time he had was the few hours he’d give me daily. During this time, we’d usually grab something to eat, and shoot the shit. A few times he’d taken me to a restaurant, where we had fine dining. Twice we’d been to his luxury apartment, and I’d fallen in love with it. It was in a high rise building in the Galleria area.

I’d seen just enough to know that I liked him, but was in no hurry to take things further. He’d pushed up on me several times, but had been cool about me denying his advances. Still, I wasn’t sure how long that would last. He struck me as the type to get whatever he wanted, and I wasn’t going to be pressured into doing anything, before I was ready.

Nonetheless, it was a Friday evening and we were stepping into a dimly lit movie theater. It was just seven o’clock, and he’d promised to take me to the movies, but was also supposed to go to his boy’s party at the club. Therefore, he was putting his time in with me first, before going to party with his friends. I was so into fantasy movies, and was geeked to see Suicide Squad.

“Come on, let’s go to the top,” Flame instructed, palming the small of my back. “By the way, did I tell you that you’re looking phenomenal in this dress?” he whispered into my ear.

I grinned. “Thank you.” I’d decided to rock a fire-red short sleeved fitted Alexander McQueen mini dress with a gold zipper lining the middle of the back along with a pair of tall gold gladiator scandals. The dress was so short that I’d considered changing, but by then he was already at the front of the complex, waiting on me.

As expected, he was fresh in his Balmain ensemble, and was enticing my senses with his sweet ass cologne.

“I wish I could take your fine ass to the club with me. Everybody would be hating,” he declared, kissing my cheek.

“Quit it,” I giggled, as we copped our seats.

“I’m so serious,” he claimed, easing an arm around me. “And thank God that nobody bothered to come up here.”

“Why is that?” I questioned, before taking a sip of my cherry slushie.

“Cause,” he whispered, before sensually kissing my lips. “I can do this.”

  “Oh, really?”

“Hell, yeah,” he breathed. “And this too.” He kissed my neck.

“I thought we came to watch the movie?” I asked, as he gripped my chin.

“We did,” he claimed, before licking my jawline.

Admittedly, it was feeling good, and I reasoned that there was only so much that he could do in a theater with several other people around. Therefore, I didn’t offer any objections as he teased and caressed my flesh. I felt his hand rubbing my thigh, making me hotter. So, when he slid his tongue into my mouth, I openly received him.

Soon, our kiss grew wild, as we tried to suck each other’s faces off. I felt him easing a hand into my panties, but I didn’t care. I widened the gap between my thighs, letting him go for what he knows. He immediately found his way to my clit, and stroked.

“Got damn this pussy wet,” he spoke into my ear. “I wonder how it tastes. Is it sweet?”

I didn’t answer him, as I rolled my hips, fucking his finger.

“Let me see,” he breathed heavily into my ear, before pulling his hand away. With no shame he slipped the same finger he’d just had in my pussy into his mouth. Swirling it around, he moaned. “Damn, you taste good.”

Before I could say anything, he had that finger back on my clit, applying pressure. With precision he moved that finger, causing my kitty to purr. “Ooh,” I moaned into his shoulder, not wanting anyone to hear me. “Uh, fuck.” I rocked my hips.

“Yeah, that’s right. Let me feel you cum,” he urged. “Let that shit off.”

“Uhooooooo,” my mouth fell open, as I began releasing.

“Hell, yeah. There you go.” He picked up the pace, intensifying my orgasm.

“Shiiiiiit,” I trembled, while holding on to him for dear life.

“Uh huh, uh huh,” he growled, before kissing me sloppily. “Come on, let’s get out of here, so I can fuck you real good.”

  I stiffened.

“Aw, shit. Come on, Mya. Don’t do my like this. My dick harder than a fucking brick, right now,” he groaned.

“I get that, but I’m not trying to do that right now, Flame,” I whined.

“Uhhh,” he vented, pulling his hand out of my panties. “You better be lucky I like your fine ass.” He kissed my cheek. “I know you worth the wait.”

  I smiled, confidently. “I am.”

  ******

“So, you sure you don’t wanna go back to the crib with me?” Flame questioned for the millionth time, as we pulled up to the front of my apartments.

I pursed my lips. “What happened to you going to your boy’s party?”

“Shit, if you talking about chilling, then that nigga can wait.”

“Yeah, I bet,” I laughed, as I pushed the door open. “See you later. Call me after you leave the club.”

He sucked his teeth. “Yeah, yeah.”

“Muah,” I blew him a kiss, before sauntering off. I stepped into the gate, and moseyed down the sidewalk. I never allowed Flame to pull into the complex to keep down confusion, but I was strongly considering saying fuck all that. Flame wasn’t my mama’s man, so he didn’t have to be some deep dark secret.

For a second, I thought about checking the parking lot to ensure that no one was home, but I figured that would be a waste of time. Meeka was still at work, and Omari would die before being caught at home on a Friday night. Not that he’d been at home lately, anyway.

Using my key, I let myself into the apartment. The moment I crossed the threshold I knew that I’d fucked up. Omari was in the living room carrying his Louie backpack, looking like he was headed out of the door. I was mentally kicking myself for not following my first mind, and checking the parking lot.

The moment he saw me, he tossed his backpack onto the couch. “Where the fuck are you coming from?”

I closed the door behind me. “None of your business.”

“None of my business?” he stepped up to me. “You got the nerve to be wearing the shit I bought you, but it’s none of my business? Who the fuck was you with?”

“None of your business,” I gritted.

He looked me up and down. “You was on a date, My?”

I thought about lying, but quickly decided that he didn’t deserve that much. “Actually, I was.”

“Oh, you was?” his eyes bucked. “You must be taking me for some type of fucking joke. You don’t think that I won’t drag your ass across this carpet?”

“Drag me?” I frowned, while slyly stepping around him, just in case he meant that shit. “Boy, bye. I aint your concern. Go talk to your woman Meeka, and tell her to do something about these damn roaches. I noticed that kitchen done got nasty since I aint been here. Or better yet, where your bottom bitch Skyy at? Go bother her dumb ass, and get the fuck outta my face.”

He snatched my arm, yanking me back. “Look at this fucking dress. Your ass is practically hanging out. Did you let that nigga fuck?”

“Let me go,” I spoke through clenched teeth.
