Zach looked, blinked and groaned aloud.

“I’m sure there’s a really good reason why those are there and not…not where they should be,” he felt the words catching in his throat.

“I took them off when I visited the restroom just before we left,” Eve told him, smiling when his palm gently massaged along the bare flesh of her thigh.

“You know, I seriously never thought of myself as the kind of guy who was afraid to ask why.” Zach said carefully, the tension in him moving up another notch before he gave into the need to touch her, stroking along the length of smooth flesh beneath her dress, his fingers finding the edge of satin that held the stockings in place.

“You’re exceptionally intelligent, Zach,” Eve complimented easily. She shifted in the seat, his hand gliding off her thigh to the center. His palm pulled free like it was on fire.

  “Eve, we’re almost home…”

“We are, aren’t we?” Eve watched him maneuver along their driveway, her fingers opening the seat belt and releasing it and moving to her knees, facing him. She sat patiently while he pulled into the garage, the door closing behind them and the light coming on automatically. Eve reached over and flipped the switch that made the steering wheel rise out of their way. She moved quickly before Zach could say anything, her leg sliding over his until she was sitting astride him, facing him. “I remember you saying the next time we would do this, it would be in the driveway to our own house.”

  “Eve…what are you doing?”

“Zach…seriously…” she opened the front of his shirt, her palms spread over his chest with light strokes. Eve bent forward, dotting his chest with warm, moist kisses.

“We have…the house is…” Zach let his head fall back on the headrest.

“Zach,” Eve pressed her body against his, her tongue trailing over the exposed collarbone to his throat. “I want to make out with you…here…like teenagers…please…” she whispered hotly, moving her mouth to his in a long, passionate kiss, her palms framing his face, slender fingers spearing into the thick hair at the sides of his head.

“Christ, woman…” Zach gave into the need, his palms on her shoulders, setting her back slightly from him. He knew his fingers were shaking as they worked to open the front of her dress until Eve took his hands and moved them to her hips. He watched her slender fingers slowly, seductively opening the tiny buttons down the front of her dress.

“It’s not so very difficult to be indulgent…” Her voice was a low, soft caress over his skin when she leaned closer, her breasts pressing hotly against his chest. She slid her palms between them, the belt buckle to his slacks opening under her guidance, her fingers splayed out and stroking over his chest.

Zach groaned aloud, nudging her face up until he could capture her mouth hungrily. He lost to the desires raging inside him, his palms moving to her thighs and pressing hotly beneath the skirt of her dress. His hands surrounded the globes of her behind, pulling her hard against him. She rotated her hips, tilting them and he knew she was stroking that feminine part of her against him, the sweet low sounds coming from her throat sending his senses soaring. Blood pounded hotly through him when she slid back a little, her hands squeezing between them and moving to the opening of his slacks.

Eve slipped the button free and lowered the zipper of his pants, separating the sides and pressing her hands together to stroke heavily down the hardness demanding attention. She raised her head, barely noticing the steamed windows and ragged breathing from them both.

“Move this way…you need to stretch out,” she told him, sliding easily with him toward the center of the wide bench seat. She sat perched in the middle of his thighs, casually pulling his shirt free and pressing the sides wide and moving lower to finish what she had begun with his slacks.

Zach had no idea he would become so turned on watching her, his hands kneading her thighs and behind, gliding beneath her dress to her waist and pulling her close once more. The silken curls stroked along the male flesh she’d exposed, Eve’s breath caught when she ground her hips hard against him.

Sensitive nipples hardened and scraped across his chest, her eyes wide when he firmly set her away from him.

“Eve…no…damn it, look at me…” Zach held her in place, listening to their breathing, inhaling their scent and feeling their heat. “This…this position you want…you’ve never…” He stopped with a heavy sigh when her palm rose and covered his lips.

“Zachary…” Eve breathed his name and took his hand in hers. “Touch me…” She guided his palm beneath her dress to the hot center. “I’m okay…oh yes…right there…I can see and feel what I do to you…how hard you are…you forget that you do that to me…only it doesn’t show…” Eve let her lashes drift closed, her lower body moving against the fingers that found their way to the swollen, hotly moist center. “I want you, Zach…here…now…” she whispered with a low need that sent a shiver through him.

Eve opened her eyes and rose up on her knees, her hand moving between them to slide him through the moisture that had been flowing for him. The hard line of him stroked through the center once….twice…until she caught him more firmly in her opening.

“Eve…” Zach groaned heavily, the hot opening slick with her moisture pulling him inside. “Christ…Eve…I can’t…I don’t want to hurt you…”

“It doesn’t hurt…” she told him, her palms holding to his shoulders as she kept her body lined up, letting herself welcome him slowly. She tilted her hips slightly, soft mews breaking with each new sensation. Eve let her head fall back, her eyes closed when his palm gently stroked over one breast, the sensitive peak of her nipple sending out strong pulses with each new move she made.

Zach bent his head, taking one nipple between his teeth. The loud, plaintive groan from his lips mixed with the cool air around them when she lowered her body a little further. The hot velvet glove surrounded him with an almost painful slowness. It took control he didn’t know he possessed to keep from thrusting into her, the edge of his need just out of reach.

Eve let her legs slowly glide apart. She held her breath, the fullness such a new feeling coupled with the flying sparks of tension that had been building all night long. His hands and mouth teasing, arousing. Her fingers speared the hair at the back of his head at the same time the fireworks began inside her. She lost control of her descent, the convulsions within her rippling along the hard length of him and sending her legs wide. Blood pounded hotly through her. She vaguely heard herself call out to him, vaguely listened to the male growl when his palms moved to her behind, pulling her hard as he thrust upward.

She felt him moving in her when the raging waves slowed. His voice was hoarse, her name on his lips as his arms tightened and his body exploded deep inside her. She was warm, her face buried in his throat and tongue out to taste the salty flesh. Her muscles didn’t want to move. She wanted to curl against him, snuggle down and lose herself in the strength of the arms wrapped tightly around her.

But the air was cooling around them. Zach opened his eyes. He raised his head, dark eyes gazing at the scene they presented. A pair of yellow panties hung from his radio knob; his vest and shirt were both wide open; his slacks had been pushed barely off his hips. There were sweet sounds of contentment coming from the woman nestled in his arms, her chest against his, their heart beats slowly returning to normal.

“Eve?” Zach tilted his head, smiling at the closed eyes and relaxed beauty in his arms.

  “Hmmmm…”

“Are you alright?” He knew up until a certain point, it had been his intent to not allow her to do what she did. Then nature and his wife removed the good intentions with a passion he had only dreamt about.

“I am really alright,” she murmured, snuggling down a little more. “Thank you for being so sweetly indulgent, Zach. It’s nice and toasty here…”

“We need to move…the toast is cooling off…”

“Hm…not enough body heat being generated…I think we steamed the
windows…”

“I know we steamed the windows,” Zach said with a laugh.

  “It’s so nice and cozy…”

Zach reached over and shoved the car door wide.

“Hey! Where’d the arctic blast come from?” Eve tried burrowing into his jacket. “You’re messing with the mood here, Covington…”

“The garage…will you stop moving…” He was amazed at how easily she could get him laughing and cursing at the same time.

“Oh…oh…” Eve felt his body reacting to her muscles and smiled. “Want to see some belly dancing moves?” She contracted her stomach and rotated her hips in demonstration.

Zach grit his teeth. “I’m not sure which of us this is going to disturb more…” his hands went swiftly and tightly to her waist, lifting her up and to the side without pausing.

“Hey!” Eve blinked, dark eyes swinging to the man quickly tucking and zipping before he pulled the keys from the ignition and reached for her waist again. Zach hauled her across the seat and stood her on the concrete. “OHHH! Zach this floor is like ice! My shoes!” Eve yelped and made a dive back into the car, hands scrambling for the heels on the floor. She hopped on one and then the other until she had them on, her hands hastily buttoning the front of her dress and tucking herself into place.

Flashing dark eyes glared at the laughter seconds before he pulled her into his arms, his mouth covering hers with renewed hunger. Eve watched the excitement begin to glow in her middle again, the passion in his kiss weaving its way through to the cold toes.

“I can’t believe…” He shook his head, holding her close as he made certain things were locked before going through the connecting door to the kitchen.

“I think you can now consider the SUV christened,” she said with a teasing wink, long legs striding toward the bedroom.

Zach was still smiling when he opened the shower stall door and stepped inside. A smile turned to a deep laughter filled with pure enjoyment at the stunned expression on her face. Water streamed down her face while her arms and hands flew in all directions at once.

“Not enough hands?” He asked through his laughter, cupping his palms beneath the spray and sighing into the hot water he carried to his face.

“Zach?” Eve swallowed, backing into the corner and working to keep her eyes on his face. “Zach! You…you shouldn’t…”

“Eve…” Zach leaned closer, their noses touching. “First, you just finished seducing me on the front seat of the SUV,” he watched her struggle with the logic, a pretty frown that made the full bow of her lips pucker and presented such a delightfully kissable face. “Second…I plan to fully explore every lovely inch of you…with the lights on…c’mere…” he took her palms from their less than strategic places and turned her around. “I think you need your back washed…”

Fragrant soap, steam and laughter filled the next hour, ending with the water shut off and Zach hustling her into a thick bath towel.

“No, damn it!” Deep, husky laughter filling the bathroom and he lifted her from the floor after wrapping a towel around himself. “A bed! A normal, comfortable bed this time!”

  Chapter Seventeen

Eve groaned loudly when the music sounded it was six AM. She pulled the pillow over her head at the same time she felt that sexy rasping of his shadow over her shoulder and nipping at her neck from behind. She didn’t know how it was possible. She would have sworn all her sensitive spots had shut down after last night. But something about Zach made them all come instantly awake, her lower body tingling.

“Take the day off,” Zach whispered sexily against her throat, nipping her ear lightly.

“Take…Zach…we had a party last night...it would look bad to…to…”

“I’m the boss…I don’t care what it looks like,” he told her gruffly, pressing his body along her side. “You’re the director…when did you last take a day off…”

“I…I’ve only been there two months…” She offered in a weak protest.

“I think I’m a morning guy….take the day off, Eve…indulge me,” he whispered in that cajoling low voice, using her words.

  “I…oh, god…Zach…this is very…”

“It’s our honeymoon,” he continued seductively, nibbling along her throat, finding that tender spot between her shoulder and neck and moving on to trail his tongue along her spine. “Take the day off, Eve…”

  “I…my phone…I have to call Myra…”

“Use mine,” Zach reached for the nightstand and handed her the phone, grinning like a boy when she opened it and tapped in the number. He went back to the long column of her spine, kissing and touching sensitive spots that made her voice rise now and then as she left the message that she was taking a personal day. She held the phone up to him, rolling to her back and inhaling deeply.

“Dora, it’s Zach…I’m taking the day off. Anything important happens and you can’t handle it, call me.” His tone was brisk and confident. He quickly closed the phone and dropped it to the nightstand, his hands returning to her shoulders to pull her over him, the sensual assault beginning anew.

Eve wandered into her kitchen a while later, making coffee and feeling a little on the wicked side. She should be at work. She dropped a freshly sliced bagel into the toaster and dug the cream cheese from the fridge. Eve perched on one of the kitchen stools, her chin resting in two palms. She was staring at the toaster but definitely not seeing it.

“Feeling guilty?” Zach came from behind, his laughter becoming more and more relaxed when she made a face at him. “I think it would be good for you to take a random day now and then. I know it’ll do me a world of good,” he said with a wink, pouring the coffee and getting a glass from the cabinet, filling it with juice and sliding it in front of her.

“A little guilty…but also…nice…just a day off because…” Eve sipped the juice, lifting the bagels out and spreading crème cheese over one, offering him the other. She watched him butter it and fill it with cherry jam. “But I will not be corrupted,” She told him with a firm nod.

“Careful…” Zach finished off his bagel and dropped another into the toaster. “That sounds like a challenge to me…”

“That’s because you’re a guy,” she looked up to see the arched eyebrow, the teasing gleam one she was becoming very fond of in his dark eyes. “And yes, it is one of the qualities about you I find most attractive,” Eve waved her fingers absently, striding to the desk and turning her computer on, arms flailing the next instant when she found herself grabbed from behind around the waist and put back onto the kitchen stool. She glared at him.

“Get dressed. We’re going out. No computer until later this afternoon,” Zach declared, quickly fixing the bagel and taking a big bite before taking her palm and leading her to the bedroom. “Find clothes, Eve. Just you and me…maybe the Pike Place Market and some shopping.”

Zach sat in the kitchen finishing his bagel when she came wandering out. He couldn’t stop the grin on his face when she looked up from tucking in the long sleeved girl tee she had put on, a bright yellow tank on top. She had that ‘I’ve been thinking’ look always made him chuckle.

“You’re going to use this indulge me thing, aren’t you?”

“Every chance I get,” he admitted without remorse, checking for his wallet and phone before sliding his jacket on and pulling keys from the pocket.

“Hmm…” Eve accepted the jacket he held out to her, following behind and making sure the door was locked.

Zach slide behind the wheel of the SUV, his palm up and lifting the yellow panties off the radio, stuffing them into his pocket and shaking his head at the memory.

Eve hopped out of the SUV shortly before seven the next morning, backing up and watching him drive off. She sighed and went off humming to her office. After making sure things were going smoothly and getting the morning groups started, she spent a few minutes taking time to send an email to her attorney. She included a copy of Zach’s driver’s license and t
heir marriage certificate. Her lips were pursed as she composed the brief note.

‘Eric, I’ve attached copies for your files of my marriage certificate and Zach’s license for information. I also need you to take the property at 418 S. Pacific Rim and have the deed transferred to Zach as soon as possible. I’ve also included a copy of his business card for you to send him the notification and deed. For your records, have it read the property was sold to him for one dollar. If you have any questions or need further information, his secretary’s name is Dora and she can help. Thanks! Eve Hastings Covington.’

Sam laughed at the face Eve made when her phone chimed five minutes into their lunch, her eyes rolling at the text.

“Zach?” Sam asked, biting into the toasty veggie sandwich she bought.

“Zach,” Eve slid the phone back into her pocket. “Eat lunch, Eve.” She sighed.

“I couldn’t help notice you were AWOL yesterday,” Sam commented. “Hijacked?”

“You’ve been there, I take it?” Eve asked with a friendly laugh, biting into her own sandwich.

“Oh, yeah…” Sam agreed. “It’s a nice feeling…though it does take some getting used to.”

“I…I’ve never known anyone like him, Sam.”

“I understand,” she said softly, catching sight of Logan and smiling as he crossed to join them with a tray of his own. She liked the soft kiss he placed on her cheek, setting his tray down with a cautious glance at them.

“Is this girl time and I should run hide?”

“We would love to have you join us, Logan,” Eve told him warmly.

Zach looked up from his desk when Dora brought a sealed envelope into his office the next morning. He’d seen the courier and hadn’t given it any thought until she dropped it to his desk.

He slit it open while she waited and stared at the letter. “Put it into the file for the property, Dora.”
