Her hands shoot up to cover her mouth. He does it again, and her hands catch the noise this time. He pushes again. Harder still.

He grunts his own pleasure out as he rams into her again. "Fuck, you're tight."

His hands move to her hips, using them like handles to pump himself in and out harder. Her hands have to grip around her mouth tighter as the sounds threaten to escape, letting everyone in the whole house know exactly what's happening.

His thrusts get harder, more erratic. The need boiling inside both of them drives him now, an animal lust that neither of them can control until finally he pushes inside her, and Emma can feel the warmth of his seed spilling into her.

He rests his weight on his elbows above her, his breathing hard, and presses a kiss against her lips.

"I love you," he says. His voice is hoarse. Emma can't help smiling, even as the rest of her body is limp with pleasure.

"I think I love you, too." He kisses her, this time, and pulls out. For a moment, anyways. If Emma doesn't miss her guess, it won't be long until they try again.

  Chapter Forty

It's easy to think that with her problems mostly-solved, everything might just get better. That there's nothing to worry about. Emma slept like a baby through the night. When she wasn't awake, taking care of other things.

Mrs. Weston, on the other hand, still has problems. Still has big problems. From what Senator Weston—Mr. Weston—Craig's dad—says, they were supposed to get her into surgery last night.

If doctors are to be believed, the surgery was a big success. They're fairly confident that there's nothing still there. Just in case, though, they'll go through treatment.

Which is as good as the news can get, Emma thinks. Nobody seems that excited about it, and there's very little question why nobody would be. After all, it's only good by degrees, isn't it?

She takes a deep breath and tries to ignore the smell. Tries to ignore the hospital floors and the hospital walls and the hospital bullshit. She should be thankful. She should be appreciative. And most of all, she should be happy for Craig. And his mother.

Things could have gone a hell of a lot worse than they did. It doesn't help. She settles into her chair and avoids noticing the glances coming her way from the eldest daughter. The glances of wanting to get all the gossip.

Well, she's not going to spill. Not even, she thinks, when they try to pull her out for lunch. Craig steps off to follow behind, but Allison stops him with a look.

"It's a girls' lunch. No boys allowed." She gives a petulant wink and practically hauls Emma out of the room bodily.

The SUV is big and comfortable and not entirely unlike riding in her father's truck, back in the day, except that now she's got every reason not to want to talk to these people, and they're waiting for her to say something. Anything. Waiting with absolutely rapt attention.

Emma, for her part, watches out the window and tries her best not to notice any of it. It's easier that way, if she can manage it. Sadly, however, she's managing it very poorly. Every little look over, every questioning glance is like a little barb under her skin, and she notices them all.

Which, in all likelihood, means that they're going out of their way to make her notice, because Emma has been many things, but attentive to other people's expressions hasn't historically been one of those things.

Finally, as they turn into a parking lot a few miles down the road she turns away from the window. "Well, what is it?"

"Nothing," Arianna says. She looks out the front windshield, as if she's integral to the process of finding a spot.

"Then stop givin' me funny looks."

"Well, I mean. We're just, you know. Curious. Did y'all make up, or what?"

  "Sure. I guess."

  Looks are exchanged. "You 'guess'?"

"I mean. I don't know. We weren't dating, you guys. Seriously."

"But you had, like, a thing, right? You kept lookin' at him all… girly."

  "I don't know what you're talking about."

"No? Really? You don't have any idea what we're talking about? We're just makin' all this up."

  "Well—"

  "Okay, so spill."

"I mean there was like. A little thing. Nothing big. And there was some misunderstandings."

"Oh, sure. Say no more." Allison's got a look that says that she'd be extremely interested in Emma saying plenty more.

"What the heck is this, some kind of interrogation?"

"Not at all, sweetie. Not in the least bit. No. We're just, you know. Checkin' up on you."

Suddenly, surrounded by girls who all had no less than six inches on her, realizing that they were trying to pull the 'big brother' routine…

For a moment, she almost laughed. She didn't. She managed not to panic, either, which felt a lot like an accomplishment if she were being honest.

  "So—what. You dating now?"

  "I don't know. Didn't ask."

"Well, don't you hurt him, or—"

"Or, what?" Emma tried to make herself look particularly unthreatened. It probably didn't work, but that didn't stop her from wanting to try.

"Or we'll make you regret it, sister. You don't wanna know what happened to the last girl."

The girls made a face like it was something very unpleasant. The punishments that men get up to can be real bad, but the sort of punishments that a woman dishes out are of an entirely different and entirely more threatening kind.

The way that they are looking right now, it's not hard to believe these three managed to make quite a bit of mischief, whatever the 'long story' was.

  "So you better be careful."

"Don't worry about me. I'm just nobody."

"Well, Craig doesn't bring 'nobody' around, so just you make sure that you don't do anything that you're going to regret, you got it?"

It's not easy to keep herself from laughing, now. The whole idea that she might be the harpy in this relationship, trying to suck the life out of him—that she might be the bad influence—

It's too much. She cracks a smile against her own better judgment.

  "I won't."

The girls put their smiles back on. Smiles that look the same as they did before, only now they hold a sinister air. Like they're only there to hide their machinations. Then Allison cuts the engine.

  "You drink coffee?"

"Sure," Emma says. She doesn't really recognize the name of the place. It's not Starbucks, and it's not Panera Bread, which means she's never heard of it.

"Then you'll love it here. Great sandwiches, great coffee. Salad, if you're into that kind of thing."

She follows behind. She'd follow further behind, but Arianna takes up the rear, and with her height it's not going to be easy to slip around her, even if she does have to look down to see more than the top of Emma's head.

The menu's big and complicated and not the most expensive that she's seen. Not that bad, even.

Emma orders herself a chicken salad. She can barely get the words out before Allison's handing over a credit card, in spite of her protestations and in spite of reaching into her pocket to pull out her wallet.

The man behind the counter must know them, because he swipes the card real fast and makes apologetic motions to Emma.

Emma can't help smiling as the whirlwind of ladies starts up again. Even after years of being a loner, it's strange how nice it feels. Like she's still back in California. Like she's still got a little part of the Sorority house with her.

There's going to be a hell of a lot of talk when she gets back. A lot of it about her, and a lot of it about the stuff she's going to have to tell the girls. That, or she'll get herself lynched, if she doesn't tell them.

She'll have to talk to Craig about what the hell they are, and then she'll have to tell the girls.

Not, that is, that they'll believe for a second that it just happened. No more than these three do.

Then again, maybe it's hard for her to believe any of it, too. Because even though it seems like only yes
terday she was spitting when he passed by…

Craig Weston always had taken up a lot of her thoughts. And now a lot of her time. And soon, if things kept going the way they had been…

Probably a lot more of it. She smiled. But that was what she was looking forward to.

  Epilogue

The gown is itchier than he'd expected it to be. How in the hell did people, way back in the day, wear these kinds of clothes every day? And how, in God's name, did it make him itch even through a suit?

Mom and Dad are sitting somewhere out behind him. Presumably, the girls are, as well. He takes a deep breath. It would have been nicer if Emma was here. Would have been much nicer.

But she's sitting back down in her seat, way up front. She's been fussing with that speech for the last three months and now that she's finally got it over, she'll probably feel a lot better.

He takes a breath as they continue on with the ceremony. As they start listing off names. He's not last, at least. It could be a lot worse. Students cross the stage. Emma's bright-red hair peeks out from under her cap, like a beacon as she goes across. Craig can't help smiling as she receives her diploma.

She waves into the crowd. It's subtle, but it's a nice photo opportunity, and the way that things have been going for her, the number of calls she's been getting lately, a little publicity won't hurt. Nor, then again, will 'Valedictorian' on the resume.

Nor, in a few weeks, will her last name. So there's a lot at play here. She steps off and he watches her through the crowd of people lining up, watches her head back to her seat.

She's still fussing with the ring. It's going to be uncomfortable for a while, no doubt, but there's no way she wasn't going to wear it for a big day like this.

Craig stands up and follows the line. She's going to look so beautiful in her dress. So beautiful, indeed. He takes a breath and settles himself down. They've still got almost a month to worry about that.

Craig steps onto the stage and collects his diploma. They're going to have a lot to worry about in the next few months. But then again, newlyweds always do. They'll handle it, though. Just like they always have.

Here’s a preview of the sexy love story you’re about to read…

Grant pulls me in, pressing his lips against mine. They're smooth and warm, and they feel like home.

It's unexpected, but not unpleasant. He smells like wine, and like a human. Humans have a somewhat sweet smell that draws werewolves to them, but usually that ends up being bad news.

I kiss him, biting his lower lip as gently as I can manage. He pulls away, which means it hurt him. Fuck, how am I going to make love to this man without tearing him apart? Still, I savor his taste.

It's been so long since I had sex that my joints ache for it. My stomach flips with butterflies as if I'm a virgin. His tongue glances against my neck, tickling me. I giggle, a girlish sound. That's right. A ferocious werewolf giggled.

Grant picks me up and helps me to the floor, covered by a soft carpet. He grabs the rope holding my “dress” together and unties it, leaving me fully naked below him. He stops, looking me over. His fingers slide against the bite mark on my thigh.

His hands press against my knees, pushing them wide open before he stops to take off his own shirt. My gaze travels down his chest, wondering at how he keeps his body so trim and muscular.

Grant's mouth traces up my thigh, kissing his way up my skin before nuzzling his mouth against my slit. I wonder if I smell okay, but he doesn't seem bothered by it. He licks me once, then dives in like a man wild with desire. His tongue flicks across my clit, lashing it like mad while I gasp and writhe.

My thighs press against his head with each overly-sensitive lick. Grant's tongue rubs over my smooth inner skin as he tastes me, savors me. My legs tense and relax, my back arching until finally it all becomes too much and I flow into his mouth. He doesn't stop, though. He edges me close to a second orgasm before pulling away.

He slips a finger inside of my hole. “You're soaking wet,” he remarks, wiggling his finger within me. I squirm, whining about wanting to be fucked.

Reaching up to my chest, grant grabs my breast and squeezes. Not hard, but not gently, either. He's getting frustrated, horny. He pulls off his pants and kneels between my thighs again. I look down my body to see his meat, and I gasp.

He's massive! Like, literally bigger than any cock I have ever seen, and I've seen a lot. When I was with Aimar, he let his mates use me. I'm not joking when I say Grant is big. He sees my wide eyes and chuckles.

His cock pressed against my tight, wet hole. It slipped up my slit, the warm head stimulating my clit, before going back to my hole and sliding into it s-l-o-w-l-y.

I groan and grit my teeth.

“Relax, relax. You're almost there. Once I'm inside, it won't hurt too badly anymore.”

“You could have warned me –”

“What, that I might be too big for you? I could have, but we didn't exactly have privacy.”

I nod, breathing deep. His head goes past my entrance, and then inch by inch he inserts himself into me.

“God, you're tight,” he says. I smile. At least he's enjoying this.

He starts to thrust in and out of me, slowly at first. The pain goes away quickly, though, and soon I'm moaning beneath him again. My hands wrap around his neck, my legs around his torso.

Soon, I'm the one pushing him into me, forcing him to fuck me harder and harder. I can't believe how much I'm enjoying his cock. All thoughts of murder are truly gone, and as my orgasm approaches my mind goes blank. I just lay back and enjoy the ride, with Grant fucking me harder and harder.

  Chapter 1

You came onto my land. You attacked me. And now, I will hunt you, and I will kill you!

Four bloodied silver paws slam against the ground, willing a thin, shaggy wolf forward and away from the shewolf pursuing him. Her black paws are smaller, but still she is gaining on him.

As they dash like devils through Koirankoppi Forest, their hateful growls bounce off the old and tangled trees, sending birds squawking into the evening sky.

The black wolf has eyes so yellow that they are more like a cat's than a wolf's. She pants hard, her sharp teeth glistening with blood from the silver wolf's tail. She only got one nip out of him before he dashed off. If she catches him, she'll rip his guts out.

She snaps her jaws, trying to catch his tail between them again, daring him to slow down to look back at her for even a second. A wolf that dares to step on another's land is a wolf that surely has a death wish.

The silver wolf does glance back, and pays for his mistake dearly. She grabs his tail, pulling him back enough to sink her razor-sharp teeth into his rump. A yelp pierces the air, shrill and panicked. It's so familiar that it startles the black wolf, allowing the thinner one to escape once again.

He spins, biting her front leg hard enough to make her pause before running off into the night, but she doesn't give up. The she-wolf follows his scent, quickly catching up to the wounded beast. She's too bloodthirsty to process his familiar scent and sound.

/>   Passing the wide Nymfi lake, lit up with lanterns but without the druids that usually spend the night in trance around it, the two wolves splash through soft mud and shallow puddles.

The moon is only half full on this night. If it were full, these wolves would be wreaking true havoc, destroying plants and fighting to the death. Without that full lunar power, however, they can't use the rage within them to decide a fight. If they try that now, it will be deadly for both of them.

They shoot out from the protection of Koirankoppi's trees, the silver wolf crashing through a wooden fence and into a yard. A yard where a man, tall and with broad shoulders, is playing with his young daughter.

The black wolf skids in the grass, hanging back. She knows how dangerous humans can be when confronted, and she doesn't want to cause them harm either. The silver wolf, however, pushes forward, barreling right into the little girl.

He looks back at the shewolf as the girl gasps in surprise. His black eyes seem endless, ruthless, as he turns back and bites into the girl's arm. He twists his head, pushing her away from him as she screams in agony, falling to the ground holding where he just bit her. Blood spills into the grass.

The silver wolf scrambles away, kicking up dirt and leaves behind him.

The broad-shouldered man leaps up as soon as he processes what has happened, raising a fist to hit the wolf that is already back in the Koirankoppi Forest. Behind him, a woman steps out of the shadows. She's dressed in a loosely-tied dress, kept shut with only a rope. She looks more caveman than modern woman, with her wild red hair knotted with curls and sweat.

Her yellow eyes are set on the child.

  Chapter 2

I grab the girl, pulling her arm towards me as she cries in pain. The wound looks nasty. I grimace and look into her eyes, surprised to see that she's holding back a lot of her fear and pain.
