Tak’mena looked at my fingers. “I noticed the scars on your fingers. You bite your nails too. You’ve also hurt your fingers a few times. Fractures. We found them on x-rays. With crystal therapy, we’ll be able to reverse any damage. With your cooperation, of course.”

“I used to bite them to the quick when I was young,” I said.

“I want to ask you something. Answer me truthfully, okay?” Tak’mena caught my gaze.

  “Okay,” I replied, warily.

  “Do you practice witchcraft?”

I swallowed and settled back. “No. The gift only runs on my father’s side. It’s handed down in the males.”

“We save the purple aura in you deep down inside when you were resting in the pod, right before cleansing. We’ve not seen purple auras in quite some time. We don’t have a witch here on Zuna. They’ve all gone to other planets.”

“You don’t have to worry. I don’t have powers. It’s why dad wanted to have a son. But the doctor told them I was a boy which was why I wasn’t aborted earlier in the pregnancy.”

“Are you sure you don’t have powers?”

“Even if I inherited something from my father, I wouldn’t know how to use it.”

“Maybe there’s nothing to learn…” Tak’mena leaned forward and pressed her palm against my heart. “Maybe it’s all in here. Reflection will help you connect with your true aura. Will help bring it out. We have places for that. Crystal caves. I’ll ask Vaxar to show you one day as part of your therapy.”

“In the videos from class, it said that you have crystals that can heal almost any ailment. Is it true?”

  “Most ailments.”

“You’re women still cannot give birth.”

She nodded. “We’re close to a cure, but as you can see, our women are anxious and very impatient.”

“Do they despise your method of bringing human females here to have your babies?”

Tak’mena shook her head. “Oh no. Every one of us understands that our future is dependent on our ability to reproduce and to make more of us.”

“Will human babies be just like you though? Would they be hybrids?”

“Oh, yes, they will. The seed of a Zunatorian male is dominant. Very rarely do we create hybrids. When human women give birth for our warriors, the babies have full use of their auras. They’re born just like any other baby.”

“And what about me? What will happen to me?”

“You will be very happy, I presume, with Vaxar.” She giggled. “He seems to think you’ll have no trouble finding your inner aura.”

  “My inner aura.”

  “Everyone has one. Even humans.”

“Do you want to have kids one day, Tak’mena?”

She glanced up at me and smiled. “Yes, of course.”

  “With a warrior?”

She giggled. “My mating is already arranged. He’s stationed aboard a ship collecting medicines from plant life on other planets and moons. When he comes, maybe in a year or so, I hope to have found a cure. Or else, he’ll be waiting forever probably. I don’t want to do that to him.”

I smiled. “I hope the cure is found. Are we the first human women to be taken from Earth, Tak’mena?”

She shook her head. “No. There was another group about six months before this. Your raid was well-planned. That’s why it included attacks on the city where you lived. It was a distraction for your Governor and intentional, to throw him off guard and let the rebels in. We had intel that it would help free some of the repressed citizens within those walls.”

  “Intel?”

“Yes, intel from a human woman that was captured before. Her name’s Ryleigh and she’s mated to Anik, Prince of Zunator. She’s a former Earth rebel.”

“A rebel? Oh…I’ve never met a rebel before, I don’t think. Maybe I’ll meet her one day.”

Tak’mena smiled. “I’m sure you will since she’ll soon be Queen of Zunator.”

“A human Queen to Zunatorians?” I asked.

“Why not? Human women just might be the ones to save us all…”

Tak’mena continued her examination of me, telling me it was routine to make sure that I was healthy and that my body was adjusting to their environment. She warned me of the guard watching me and Vaxar’s home and then collected her things, explaining that she had to go visit another home.

“Tak’mena, do you know when Vaxar will return?”

She placed her hand on my shoulder and said, “Do not worry much about his return. Vaxar is a fighter, as I’m sure you know. They are sent with a moment’s notice all the time. Perhaps, it’s one of the things that you will most regret as a mate to a warrior, but you’ll find ways to pass the time.”

“Like what?” I shrugged and gestured around me. “I’m trapped here. Enslaved in his home while he’s gone.”

Tak’mena threw me a challenging store. “Maybe next time he’ll trust that you can be left alone without fear of trying to run from him.”

I sighed. “I don’t think I want to run from him anymore.”

Tak’mena blushed and laughed on her way out the door.

  * * *

Two whole days passed before I got word from Tak’mena that the warriors had returned to Zunator, but by that time I had already prepared myself for bad news. After all, I thought I was cursed. After losing my entire family, what else could go wrong? Of course, fate would alter my happiness by making it so that I never see Vaxar again. And who would I admit to that I had somehow gotten attached to him, even in his absence.

I was holding a strip of fabric in one hand and a needle in the other when Vaxar walked in with another warrior after him. The other warrior seemed to be helping him to stay on his feet.

I jumped up from the chair at once, unsure what ailed him.

  “What’s going on?”

“Your warrior was injured. We could not get him to wait until a medic arrived,” the tall warrior exclaimed.

The tall warrior was right. It looked like he’d been in battle, through hell, and back again.

  “What happened?” I muttered.

Vaxar closed the distance between us and threaded his fingers through my hair. “I didn’t know I’d be gone this long.”

“I’m angry because you left without telling me, but that can wait. You need a doctor. Tak’mena…call Tak’mena.”

Vaxar grinned. “Tak’mena is female’s doctor.”

After that, a male medic rushed into the room with a bag and began applying a thick salve to Vaxar’s wounds.

“Why did you have to go? What happened to you?”

“To make peace with Zannakians. On the way back, we were attacked by space pirates—looters. They savage abandoned planets and villages.”

Vaxar cringed when the medic pulled a sharp metal from his side and dumped it into a pan.

  “Oh, God,” I panted.

“Don’t worry. My aura heals me.”

“Not if the foreign matter remains,” the medic interjected. “You should’ve not run off the ship without proper aid.”

“I only wanted to see my mate. Hurry, medicine man, I have missed her for days.”

The medic reddened and continued pulling the metal from Vaxar’s flesh. Just as they said, the skin began to heal once the material was removed.

“Careful,” the medic said, helping Vaxar come to his feet.

Another medic came through the doors, this time a female. We were momentarily separated as Vaxar was instructed to wash off any remnants of the attack under the shower. It seemed that they were all comfortable with seeing and attending to a naked warrior. Once Vaxar stepped out of the shower, the female medic scanned him with some device with long antennas attached to it from head to toe.

All the while, Vaxar was staring at me like a hungry beast from across the room.

As the medics spoke in Zunatorian language about his body and his vitals, I observed the whole thing. The process was fascinati
ng but more fascinating than the quick medical procedure was the fact that I had a seven-foot-tall alien warrior eyeing me like a five-course meal.

My gaze dropped to his growing erection and my body responded in kind.

Dear God, what was happening to me?

“Warrior shows no sign of extensive damage. All vitals are good. Aggression remains. The aura is strong. Mating instincts have been activated by the presence of human mate.”

They continued making notes about Vaxar. Beneath my silk dress, my nipples began to bead and my sex creamed. Vaxar’s nostrils flared. He yanked off a patch attached to his chest and growled, “Get out. All of you.”

The medics scrambled out of the room. The door had barely closed behind them when Vaxar crossed the room and picked me up with one arm.

  “Your injuries—,” I started

  “Are no more,” he finished.

He placed me down on the bed and my legs fell open on instinct. He stared down at me and moaned.

“Do you know how much I’ve missed this?”

I shook my head. “I thought you forgot about me.”

“Never. Ever. Never will I forget about you.”

He was rock hard and standing at full attention, nearly vertical to the ground.

“I’ve been thinking about you too,” I said, licking my lips.

He crawled on the bed and placed himself on top of me.

I opened my thighs wider to accommodate his hips. He kissed me and we came together. His granite-like muscles molded against my soft curves. He felt like heaven in my arms.

He dipped lower and took my nipple into his mouth, going from one and then to the other until I was writhing beneath him.

“Your mouth feels so good, Vaxar. I want you to take me. Like last time. Please…I imagined you here with me.”

“I am here, she-devil. I’ll always come home to you. Always.”

I couldn’t help but to question him. “But what if you don’t?”

“Then our son will protect you and keep you. You will have our memories. Don’t worry about that now. I’ll always fight to come home to you.” He kissed my lips. “You will have my son, yes? Please say you’ll give me a son. The son that was prophesied.”

  I nodded. “I will.”

A rush of excitement ran through me as he dived lower and planted kisses down my core until he reached my sex. He spread my folds with his fingers and lapped at my clit then sucked it into his mouth. I arched forward and he took me with his tongue. He teased my clit until I fell over the edge and drowned in ecstasy.

  “Please, Vaxar, now…”

He rose above me and slid his thick tip between my drenched sex. His solid chest pressed against my breasts. The same time he captured my mouth again was the moment he entered me. His big solid length took me by surprise, filling me up to the brink…and more.

He grabbed my hips, held me in place, and thrust in and out of me, slowly, ramming himself to the hilt. When I thought I would lose control, he pulled all the way out and then buried himself back inside hitting something that had never been touched before. I cried out his name and dug my nails into his back.

He growled out in pleasure, plundering me like it was his life’s mission.

“You are mine now, tiki pa.” He rubbed the side of his face against mine, dragging his lips across mine, driving me crazy with his feather-light touches and his mind-blowing strokes.

I came, shaking beneath him. He fixed his gaze on mine. As he released his seed inside me like molten hot lava penetrating the earth, my core came alive. His aura seemed to beam for both of us. We were joined as one. I could feel the power surge of his aura rising inside of me.

His forhead was pressed against my chest when we were finished, famished from our love-making.

“That was amazing, Vaxar.” I smiled.

“Yes, it was. We shall make amazing love like this all the time.”

“I am still angry with you for leaving me without a word.” I pouted my lips.

“No, you are not angry with me anymore. I can feel it. You are still aroused, she-devil.”

I giggled. “I can never lie to you.”

  “Nope.”

“Well, I was angry with you.”

“I know. It won’t happen again. I didn’t want to wake you. You looked so peaceful. It will always be hard to tell you that I am going off to battle, I know.”

I hugged him close. “That’s okay. Whenever you go, I will always wish you well with a little going away present.”

“Mmmm, I missed my present then, didn’t I?” His erection grew once again against my core.

“You will make up for it…”

He entered me again and I sighed and wrapped my legs around him.

  Chapter Nine

  Aurora

  Two months later…

I loved selling my globe art in the market. I felt like I was actually doing something for me. Making a difference. And finding my independence. I was no longer made to be a maidservant to someone else, putting their needs and wants and desires before my own.

Just as I handed off a crystal globe piece with a miniature rose inside to a customer, Vaxar came around the corner. Seeing him in full battle armor with axe and all never got old. He sought me out every day in the market, and every night we went home together and made sweet love.

He parted through the crowds and got on his knees in front of me and lifted his lips to kiss mine. Then he bent even lower and pressed a kiss against my growing belly.

“Beautiful, mate, I’ve come to collect you,” he said. He held up a bag with food. “It’s time to feed you and the bundle in your belly.”

I giggled. He was so responsible when it came to providing for me and his unborn heir. The only days I felt sad and alone were the days when he was gone on a mission and sometimes to battle. But I usually had Tak’mena to talk to and some of the other human women.

“I’m also done. Just let me pack up. I sold five globes today.”

“They are lovely.” He held up a piece. “Tomorrow, you will sell ten.”

  “We’ll be rich,” I joked.

  He smiled.

Honestly, I loved that a man’s reputation and service were worth more than physical currency on Zunator. I loved the fact that every citizen could work their way up. No one was made to remain a lowly servant until the day of their death. Although, there were some on Zunatorians who made it their life’s mission to serve others.

As Vaxar was helping me load up the unsold globes into a rolling case, a tall red-haired woman caught my attention. She was in a red silk dress. There was a rope around her wrist. A warrior was pulling the rope. The woman attached to the rope was Freya. I couldn’t believe it. It had been over a month since I last saw her at the auction, and then…nothing. No one knew where she was…and no cared to divulge that information.

I almost ran out into the road before Vaxar stopped me.

  “Where are you going?”

“That girl. Freya. She’s…she was my friend,” I said.

Vaxar looked. “You will meet her again. Let’s go home, love,” he said.

  “But…”

Vaxar warned me. “He is a rogue. Feral.” He turned around gave them a long look. “That one came on the ship, didn’t she? I recognize the red hair.”

“She did. I was her handmaiden.”

Vaxar frowned. He knew the circumstances of my punishment on Earth. He stroked my face with his palm. “I don’t want to see you upset. It seems your friend has met her match.”

  “Where is he taking her?”

“To his bed,” he stated flatly.

I swallowed. I felt inclined to help her. I looked at Freya’s back as she walked slowly behind the big hulky warrior who looked like death. I was afraid for her.

Then I shook my head. I was going to be happy for me. I couldn’t go back to the past.

Vaxar kissed me, pulling me out of my moment.

“I’d like to take you to my bed.”
<
br />   “I am too big to do anything.” I rubbed my belly.

He licked his lips. “Not to worry, love. My appetite requires something sweet.”

I giggled and hurried with the packing of the other globes.

Vaxar was my warrior. I loved him. I had welcomed my fate after all.

  Vaxar

  * * *

I rolled her basket of crystal globes into our pod-house and then stooped down to the ground to take off her shoes. She held her balance by placing her hands on my shoulders, but I quickly swooped her up and hauled her over my shoulder. I smacked her ass, and my erection hardened a bit more as she squealed. After kicking off my boots, I walked her around the room divider and laid her gently down on the bed.

“You look so beautiful today. Did I tell you that?” I asked, looking down at her as she shrugged down the straps of her dress.

“Yes, you did. I also changed my hair. There was a little girl that came by who offered to braid it for a globe. She didn’t have any money but I thought it was a fair trade. Don’t you think?” She ran her hand over her braided hairstyle.

I grinned. “Indeed. I’ll try not to mess it up.” I pressed my lips to hers.

“You lie,” she whispered against my mouth.
