“No, you stupid bitch! No!” he screamed and she felt the knife stab into her arm, and she screamed but was determined to get free as she tumbled from the passenger seat against the metal side step and onto dirt, rocks and water in a side drainage ditch along the wooded roadway. Her head hit something hard and she looked up and saw Pete heading toward her from the seat when some guy called out. “What the fuck’s going on!” he yelled and she felt relieved but then saw Pete raise the gun and shoot at the guy. He hit him but the guy stumbled out of view. “No! No! You bastard!” Pete yanked her up by her blouse, ripping it. He held the gun to her throat, the barrel shoving so hard she tilted her head back and felt like the barrel could penetrate through her skin. Her body was weak, battered. She thought of her men, of not living and of all the women this monster raped and killed.

He shoved her against the dirt and rocks on the embankment. “I will fuck you right here, whore. Right fucking here and if anyone tries to stop me I’ll shoot them, and then let them watch me slit your whore throat,” he yelled at her as he ripped her skirt, her blouse and she cried.

“I won’t fight you. I give up. Please stop hurting me. I’m sorry, Pete. I’m sorry. I didn’t know,” she said to him. She could hear the rev of an engine in the background, was that sirens, too?

His eyes widened and he lowered the gun, pressed his mouth to her neck. “This is so you, Emerson. So sweet and innocent, kind and naive. Those men used you like Blake did. Not me, Emerson. No, I’m going to cherish this sexy body. Make you call out my name. Make you love me.”

Tears fell and she turned further away but he took it as a move of acquiescence to his mouth as he suckled her skin. She turned slightly, saw the man who had been shot, his phone to his ear, looking scared. He was on with police. Help was coming but not fast enough.

She shook with fear, and when her fingers landed on the knife next to her she was shocked. So much so that just then he cupped her breast. Had his forearm over her head with the gun, as he rocked his crotch against her mound, hurting her, pushing her body against the dirt and rocks behind her. She moaned, and he paused. He slid her right arm over her head. He didn’t hold the gun. It was above her head, too. “That’s it. That’s it, baby,” he said and licked her cheek, her neck. She was disgusted, sick to her stomach as she held the knife tight in her hand. When he used his other hand to grip her hip and lift her higher against his thighs as he rocked his hips, she made her move. She tilted her head back, gathered her strength. As tires squealed and he stopped to look, she stabbed him in the side. He lifted up, raging, slamming his fists down on her head, her face, her body. She slowly slithered to the rocks and dirt at his feet as men yelled for him to stop where he was. He dove for the gun and four shots rang out, hit his body. He tumbled down into the ditch a few feet from her. She felt so much. The pain, the blood oozing from her side, the pain in her head, her shoulders as her vision blurred. Her hearing played tricks on her.

“Emerson! Emerson!” She thought she heard Cassius’s voice. Then she heard Raven’s, Beretta’s and Harley’s, too. More sirens, people, men surrounding her. “She’s been stabbed. Has a head injury too. God, he was pounding on her body, her head, her shoulder. Oh God,” Cassius carried on. She blinked her eyes open. “Emerson. Emerson, baby, I’m so sorry. We found out too late it was Pete. Jesus, baby, keep fighting. We’re here now. We’re all here.”

  “Pete?” she asked.

“Dead. We fucking killed him. You were so brave,” Raven told her and he leaned lower and kissed her neck. She inhaled his cologne and she knew she was finally safe and alive. Then came the dizziness, the pain in her side and her head. She heard someone curse, then the word paramedic followed by darkness, silence, and then she heard the voices again.

It was strange, but she felt like she was lifted up, bouncing on air, and a “whoop, whoop” sound kept going off around her. There were things beeping, her men yelling something to her. Live. Fight. Don’t give up. It was all a blur, and then there were doctors, people asking her questions and she couldn’t hear correctly and her vision blurred.

“I can’t hear right. I can’t see. Cassius? Raven?” she called out. “Beretta, Harley, oh God, please, please.” She felt the hands on her side, doctors saying she needed surgery. Something about bleeding and a head trauma. Then a pinch to her arm. Her head rolled to the side, and at the doorway were her men, looking grim, scared, but her eyes were so heavy and then darkness overtook her vision.

  Epilogue

Emerson eased off the stool by the island in the kitchen. Her side ached a bit and her head felt funny, but she didn’t get too dizzy this time. Maybe today would be a good day.

“Whoa, what are you doing?” Harley asked, coming quickly to her, sliding his warm, large arm around her waist and holding her.

She tapped his forearm and smiled. “Okay, Harley. I can walk around on my own now, ya know?” she asked. He turned her around and made that cute scowl on his face that she knew really wasn’t supposed to be cute, but to her it was. She reached up, made her own pouty scowling face and stroked his lip. “I love you,” she said and lifted up to kiss him. He wrapped her up in his arms and kissed her tenderly right there in the kitchen. The sound of footsteps alerted them to the others coming inside.

“She handing out loving, where’s mine?” Beretta asked, placing his Stetson down onto the island before Harley released her to him. Of course Beretta slid his palm under her skirt against her ass and squeezed. “I couldn’t stop thinking about you all morning. Can’t wait for a shower and a piece of this—”

She slapped his arm and pulled back, the sensation making her head spin. “Cake. I was going to say cake,” he said and glanced toward the counter and the apple crumb cake she and Harley made together this morning after breakfast.

“Yeah, right, you were, Beretta Lawsen,” she reprimanded but then Raven came over, cupped her cheek and her neck, tilted her chin up toward him, instantly making her pussy clench and her nipples harden further. He was always looking her over. Making sure he saw improvement and that she was getting healthier each day.

“You need a little nap, is what you need,” he said and pressed his lips to hers, then slid his hand from her shoulder, down her back to her ass and pulled her close. As he released her lips, she held on to him, not wanting to let him go. “You and I after a shower can nap together.” He winked. She blushed and nibbled her bottom lip.

“Looks like I got here in the nick of time,” Cassius said, carrying in some bags of groceries which Harley and Beretta helped him with. Raven stood behind her with his hands on her hips and she stared up at Cassius as he looked her over, like the others did all the time, making sure she was healing and looking healthier. “How’s my beautiful angel?” he asked, then cupped her cheek and stroked her jaw.

“In need of some loving from my sexy Texas Ranger,” she teased.

“Oh brother. Honey, you know we all know how to use handcuffs, not just Cassius,” Beretta teased.

She blushed and Cassius winked at her. “Not yet, sugar. Not until I know you’re a hundred percent ready, and healed.”

“Cassius, I feel great. I feel nothing but safe and well-loved in my men’s arms,” she told him and slid her palms up his chest to his shoulders. “In fact, I think we all should head on up to the new bedroom, and make sure that custom bed is working accordingly,” she said to him. She saw the twinkle in his deep green eyes, and felt his hands smooth down over her ass.

“You know I can’t say no to my angel,” he said, then pressed his lips to hers and lifted her up into his arms. He started to carry her upstairs to the bedroom with his brothers talking about taking quick showers and keeping her wet and ready for her men. She hugged Cassius tight, locked gazes with Harley, Beretta and then Raven, all three smiling ear to ear, a sight most never got to see but her. They were hard men, capable men, soldiers, experienced and demanding, but they were hers, and she would make sure to love them every day fully for the rest of their lives.<
