Love Next Door
Page 11
James had really screwed things up falling for her seduction in the first place.
At least that was something else David could put to bed. James had come to find him after David had finally signed his statement. There had been a few tense words, but James had apologized. He had admitted to his wrongdoings, and he also said he was leaving for a new start. There was no need to worry about him coming over anymore.
In a sense, David was sad about that. James had been a significant part of his life, albeit some years before. But he was glad. It meant that he and James could move on, that they wouldn’t be bumping into each other whenever they turned a corner. They could move on and find someone else to share a life with.
Hopefully, James would find someone who he could be faithful to. David wasn’t sure about that, but then maybe he hadn’t really been the one who could keep James on the straight and narrow.
Their final parting had been on a handshake. James had looked like he wanted to hug him, but David kept himself at a distance. It was a cordial parting, nothing more. David didn’t want to go further than that.
It was starting to get dark when David was finally allowed to leave. He didn’t want to know where Laura was or what was going to happen. Not right then, anyway. He just wanted to go home. Reese was there, having barely left David’s side, and he was more than happy to take David away.
Their journey home was silent, David still trying to get things lined up in his head. He had been threatened with guns and knives before, but never up close and personal like that. It chilled him to think how close he had been to having his head blown apart and how Laura would have swaggered away.
At least James had been on the ball. Reese had told David it was James who realized that something was amiss when he heard the description of the shoplifter. David had to give James that for coming to his rescue. James and Reese. David wasn’t about to forget that Reese was there. He was keeping David grounded, making him feel calmer. If he hadn’t been there, David was sure he would have gone to pieces.
Reese pulled his car into his driveway. David stared at his empty driveway, making a mental note to collect his car in the morning. He was in no fit state to be driving right now. Reese turned off the engine and glanced over.
“Do you want some company?”
“Please.” David didn’t need to think. “I don’t want to be alone right now.”
Reese nodded. They got out and headed towards David’s front door. Reese slipped an arm around David’s waist, and David leaned into him. It felt good to have someone to lean on. Reese was a rock, his rock. That wasn’t going anytime soon.
Thank God for that.
They stepped into David’s house. It wasn’t until the door closed that David realized he was still shaking. The adrenaline had really worn off now, hours later, and he was feeling antsy. He wanted to get rid of it, feel calmer. But instead he found himself starting at the floor, unsure of what to do.
“David?”
Reese was by the front door, watching him warily. David stared at him. If Reese hadn’t been with him from start to finish, David was sure he would have been put through the wringer far more than he already had. Laura might have actually succeeded, or James would have turned him into more knots. Reese was the person who kept him grounded, kept him sane.
David needed more of that before he went crazy.
As if sensing that he needed this, Reese grabbed at David’s arm, tugging him close. David sank into the kiss, swiftly taking charge and shoving Reese up against the door. Reese made a grunting noise but he didn’t push him away. If anything, he was pulling David closer as he started unbuttoning David’s shirt. When he got stuck on one of the buttons, Reese took handfuls of fabric and pulled, ripping David’s shirt apart.
David shrugged his arms out of the ruined sleeves and grabbed at Reese again, untucking Reese’s shirt before tucking it up over his head. They broke the kiss briefly, Reese tossing his shirt aside as he pulled David back. David backed them into the lounge, his hands running over Reese’s chest and back. The backs of his legs bumped into the couch and Reese tried to push, but David held him back. His cock had swelled and now he was more aroused than anything else.
If this had been any other time, he would have taken his time, but David wanted to be inside Reese now.
“Get on the couch.” He growled. “Get your clothes off and wait.”
“Yes, sir.” Grinning, Reese’s hands went to his belt. “Your house, your rules?”
“Always.”
David hurried out of the room, taking the stairs two at a time. Why did the lube always have to be in a room at the other end of the house? Grabbing it from the bedside cabinet, David took off the rest of his clothes and hurried back downstairs. Reese had kicked his shoes aside, tugged off his socks and the rest of his clothes, and now he lay on the couch. He was stroking his cock, which stood up proudly from his groin. David could see the pre-cum at the tip, which Reese spread over his shaft.
David groaned. Damn, that looked good. His hands were trembling as he squirted the lube onto his cock, smearing it in. Then he tossed the bottle aside and crawled into the couch, kissing Reese hard.
“My rules.” he whispered, lifting one of Reese’s legs up by the knee.
Reese didn’t answer. He simply moaned and lifted his hips. David grasped his cock and placed it against Reese’s asshole. He thrust, Reese’s ass clamping down on him so hard David saw stars. Reese gasped and grabbed onto the arm of the couch, his leg wrapping around David’s waist as David slid in further.
David growled. He needed this. He needed Reese.
He wasn’t gentle. The urge to take Reese until he was shouting his name was strong, and David wasn’t going to take it slow. He pulled out and thrust back in hard, Reese almost knocking his head against the couch arm. He braced himself and pushed back as David pounded his ass, his hips lifting to meet David’s. David’s whole body was shaking, their bodies sliding together. He could feel his orgasm building at a fierce rate, and David reached for it, wanting to feel Reese around him as he came.
It did come, but David was caught off-guard. Reese had dragged his head down and scraped his teeth against David’s neck before biting down on his shoulder. David’s orgasm exploded before David could brace himself, and his whole body jerked and shuddered. His cock twitched and ejected his seed while Reese also came, his release splashing on David’s stomach as well as his own. Reese was shaking, his breathing ragged as he slumped back on the couch. Or was David the one who was still shaking? David wasn’t sure anymore.
He slumped onto Reese, resting his head on his shoulder. Reese’s arms went around him, his hands stroking David’s back. It was a while before David could get his breath back and his heart slowed back down.
“David?”
“I... I’m okay.” David lifted his head, managing a smile. “I needed that.”
“I could tell.” Reese stroked David’s cheek. “Better?”
“I don’t know yet.”
They lay together for a moment longer. Then Reese shifted, David’s cock slipping from his ass. Reluctant to leave Reese’s embrace, David adjusted himself. The couch was wide enough that they could lie next to each other without falling off. Reese turned onto his side, his arm still around David’s waist. His body felt cool compared to David’s heated skin. It was comfortable, content.
David could certainly get used to this. After what had happened earlier, he had come close to not experiencing this again. Laura had almost snatched everything from him.
At least she was now dealt with, and David could focus on himself. Laura was not worth the effort.
“Do you know what I said to Laura in the office before you came in?”
“What?”
David looked at Reese, who was watching him curiously.
“I said that I loved you. It’s been years since I’ve said that about anyone, and it just felt right. I know it’s only been a couple of days since we first...well, got together,
so to speak...but I’ve already got used to having someone else around.” He shrugged, aware that he was blushing. “I liked waking up next to you this morning.”
“Same here.” Reese smiled. His hand was stroking David’s side. “We’ve known each other for years, David. I guess it was only a matter of time before we got together.”
He had a point. It had only been twenty-four hours since their first kiss, but David and Reese knew each other practically inside-out. David didn’t find it scary about jumping head-first into a relationship. In essence, he already had one with Reese. Sex just seemed to be the natural progression.
“Do you…” David paused. “Do you think you could love me back? I know with Henry…”
“I already do.” Reese kissed him gently. “Demons are laid to rest.”
“Really?”
Reese’s smile widened.
“Really.” He kissed David’s forehead as his hand drifted further up David’s side, up his chest and over his shoulder before travelling down David’s front. “The only thing I’ve got on my mind is where we are going to live. Here or next door?”
“I don’t know.” David winked. “Toss for it.”
“Later. I’ve got something else I want to toss.”
As he spoke, Reese grasped David’s cock, which was already starting to wake up again. David moaned and thrust his hips up.
“Horny bastard.”
Reese chuckled as he shifted down the couch.
“Always.”
