And there was nothing to misinterpret in the kiss he gave her then, no room for anything but the bliss of their togetherness, the fusing of their emotions as she returned the kiss eagerly.
It was a kiss that lasted an instant, an hour, a lifetime, scorching and yet infinitely gentle, scalding and yet also infinitely cool and wonderful. And over far too soon, for Holly’s taste.
‘We might just have time to go find you an engagement ring before we go off to the hospital,’ Wade said finally, his eyes now alive with the love she returned. ‘Or would you mind visiting Jessica without one — until tomorrow?’
‘I’m not sure,’ Holly laughed. ‘What would we do instead?’
His hand slid down to cup her breast, fingertips aglow with that special magic that only Wade’s fingers could ever have for her. She felt her body respond, cry out for more of his caresses. She laughed, joyous in a world so full, so overflowing with everything she wanted and needed.
‘We’d better buy the ring now,’ she said. ‘There isn’t time for what you’ve got in mind.’
‘Oh, yes, there is,’ he purred in her ear, one arm pulling her even closer against him.
And there was!
