Another thought, more disturbing, struck me. We’d been so caught up in looking for Jet and looking for the second key, that we hadn’t found Ruby. Ruby, just like Diamond was one of the three sacred unicorns, but unlike Diamond, she had been lost to time. Linara’s mother would have known, but I doubted Linara did. She would have told us. I mentally added Ruby to the growing list of things we still had to find.
I pushed melancholy thoughts of Ruby aside just like I pushed the door aside to go make ready for the next journey.
